Donald Trump locked out of Twitter and Facebook

Donald Trump's Twitter and Facebook accounts have been suspended after he published posts deemed to incite violence amid the deadly Capitol riots.

The US President's Twitter account is locked for 12 hours and the social media platform told him to remove three posts related to the unrest.

It also threatened to permanently ban the Republican leader if there are any future violations.

Facebook then followed suit, locking the President from posting for 24 hours, citing "two policy violations".

It came after the billionaire businessman turned politician posted a series of mixed messages as supporters stormed the US Capitol building on Wednesday evening - with one woman shot dead.

His final tweet falsely claimed his "landslide victory" over Democratic rival Joe Biden had been "unceremoniously & viciously stripped away".

In reality, Biden won the Electoral College while gaining seven million more votes than Trump on his way to receiving the most ballots of any US President-elect ever.

Kim Kardashian 'told to split' from Kanye West after Kris Jenner told her 'it's over'

Kim Kardashian's imminent divorce from Kanye West is thought to have been prompted by Kris Jenner, after the rapper's outbursts could 'not be forgiven'.

The 40-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is thought to have had enough of Kanye's outbursts and mindset.

Kanye has been staying at his $14 million ranch in Wyoming and has reportedly said that he has "no plans" to return to Kim in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old rapper targeted his wife and KUWTK 'momager' Kris in a Twitter rant a couple of months ago and sources have said that this was the final straw for the head of the Kardashian family.

The couple are thought to have 'gone to war' over their $1.6 billion fortune after Kim reportedly instructed a lawyer to thrash out the details of their split.

Kim has been living a separate life from Kanye, as she stays at their £45million Calabasas mansion with their children - daughter North, seven, and sons Saint, five, Chicago, two and Psalm, one.

Kris has now reportedly told Kim to "put herself first” and serve divorce papers on Kanye.

A source told The Sun: “Kim has been meeting with her divorce lawyer in secret for months.

"And over the holidays, Kris told Kim the situation could not drag on any longer, so Kim has officially moved to end things."

Kris is famously protective of the KarJenner 'family brand' and the source said that she feels Kanye is "out of control" and "bad" for the family.

She also "can't bear seeing how unhappy Kim is.”

Another source added: “Kim didn’t make this decision alone.

“Kris has been tugging on her daughter’s heartstrings to persuade her to do the right thing, which is to kick Kanye to the curb. He had outlived his usefulness and it’s time he was cut loose.”

Kanye has been very vocal on Twitter around the presidential election in November, as he looked to run for office and this has been a big decider on Kim wanting out,

The source added: "She no longer wants to be listening to his rants about fashion or agonising over what outfit to wear with him.

"Kim desperately wanted to help Kanye, but it was impossible for the marriage to recover after he insulted her mum and brought up the abortion.

“She hates that North will read that one day.”

More Nigerians coming for DNA tests to determine paternity of their children — Doctors

Some medical doctors in the country have said there has been a significant increase in the number of people coming for DNA (paternity) testing to establish the paternity of their child.

However, the doctors said the increase preceded the ongoing paternity scandal involving the Managing Director of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Adam Nuru, and a former employee of the bank, Moyo Thomas.

On social media, the scandal has generated conversations and questions around the prevalence of paternity fraud in marriage and the need for paternity testing to establish who the real father of a child is.

Nuru was alleged to have had a romantic affair with Moyo, and fathered her two children, while the latter was still married to Tunde Thomas, who died on December 16, 2020.

Friends of the deceased had in a petition claimed that Tunde died as a result of depression after discovering his two supposed children with Moyo belong to the FCMB MD.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, a medical doctor at the National Hospital, Abuja, said there has been an increase in the rate at which people come for DNA testing at the facility.

He, however, added that the surge preceded the FCMB MD's marriage scandal.

He said: "There is an increase in the number of people taking paternity tests because of the awareness, even privately some people call and say they want to do a paternity test, how do they go about it? Some say their friends need to take the test, so there has been an increase."

The doctor attributed the development to several factors, including the seemingly rising cases of infidelity in marriages and the need to establish paternity as a requirement during processing for migration.

He said: "A factor could be the increase in migration; a lot of people travel out, and relocate. Some of the countries they go to like the US, Canada, and so on request for DNA tests.

"Not all of these countries but some ask for it so generally it's (paternity testing has) been on the increase. Once in a while you get calls that people want to do a test and it was not like that two to three years ago.

"People are taking paternity testing now due to the increase in infidelity among partners. Some girls, even outside wedlock, might want to pin a pregnancy on a man and even when the child is born. So, a DNA test is conducted so the man will know if the child is actually his.

"Another form of DNA test can be done when the baby is in the womb, it's not necessarily only when the child is born that it can be done.

"Anytime an issue like this comes up, people tend to take action more because of the high rate of infidelity amongst Nigerians. There's a high rate of infidelity in Nigeria, we don't just like talking about it."

Also speaking, another medical doctor, Segun Bankole, noted: "Paternity testing has been on the increase for more than three years. People have been requesting for paternity testing for a very long time, especially those who have divorce issues."

An inmate of Edo State correctional centre, Obehi Ogbeh, who escaped during the #EndSARS protest, has been rearrested on Tuesday in Ogun State, an official has said.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a release on Wednesday.

He said the prisoner was arrested “following an information received by policemen at Agbado divisional headquarters that a middle aged man was seen around Angulis area of Agbado and that his looks and conduct is suspicious”.

“Upon the information, the DPO Agbado division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, detailed his detectives to the area where the man was apprehended. Mr Oyeyemi said the escapee confessed that he relocated to the Agbado area in order to avoid being re-arrested.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further profiling.

Kano stops payment of N30,000 minimum wage, reverts to 18k

The Kano State Government has reverted to N18,000 minimum wage, an official of the government has said.

The Special Adviser on Media to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, confirmed the development in a telephone interview with The Punch on Wednesday in Kano.

“Yes, the state government has stopped the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to its workers with immediate effect,” he said.

Tanko-Yakasai said the reason behind the action was due to the recession occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, the state was unable to continue paying N30,000 because what the state was currently getting as a government had reduced.

“The state government has reverted to the initial minimum wage due to the recession.

“What we are getting now as a government has reduced, and we can’t afford to pay the N30,000 minimum wage,” he said.

The official, who declined to state when the payment of N30,000 minimum wage would be restored, said the action was taken due to the reduction in what the state was getting from the federation account.

Recall that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in April 2019 signed the new minimum wage act into law, which stipulates N30,000 as the minimum wage.

Cardi B declares herself a 'horny hyena' as she shares snap of husband Offset grabbing her behind

Cardi B is feeling frisky. And she made no bones about it when she shared an Instagram snap of her husband Offset grabbing her derriere.

The 28-year-old rap diva bared a good bit of her behind in barely-there lingerie as her man reached out toward it.

Offset accessorized with a stack of bracelets for the Instagram photo, in which his wife's rose tattoos were in evidence.

'Can’t wait to get home ....HornyHyena,' wrote Cardi in her caption, though she did not specify where exactly she had gone.

Her decision to show off her curves in her latest Instagram post led to some confusion among her fans as shown in her comments.

One wrote: 'thought this was a pregnancy announcement for a sec,' and another erupted: 'I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ANNOUNCEMENT I MOVED.'

Cardi clearly read and noticed the reaction as she indicated with a tongue-in-cheek post to her Twitter page that evening.

'Not me posting a picture on IG of Set grabbing my a** cheek and people in the comments thinking he touching a pregnant belly....Sexy mission fail,' she wrote.

Four customers sue Arik Air for cancelled flight, others

Four intending travellers have sued Arik Air Limited for alleged indiscriminate cancellation of their Abuja-Yola flight without notification on October 22, 2020.

The plaintiffs – Sadiq Usman, Luqman Hussain, Muhammad Danazumi, and Zubair Usman – accused the airline of breach of contract, and violation of their rights as well as certain provisions of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regulations.

They filed their suit at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on December 31, 2020, demanding over N6.7 million as damages, refund of the fare they paid for the wasted flight tickets, and cost of prosecuting the suit.

They stated in their statement of claim contained in their suit that they bought air tickets from Arik Air for Flight W3 838 which was set to depart Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on October 22, 2020, at 11:15 a.m. and arrive Yola International Airport, at 12:35 p.m. of the same day.

The plaintiffs, however, expressed regrets that they arrived the airline’s check-in counter at about 9 a.m., more than two hours ahead of the scheduled flight, but no one was available to attend to them.

Mr Usman, who stated that he was to attend a wedding in Yola, averred that he was at the check-in counter of the airline till 12 p.m. “when he discovered that the flight had been cancelled, with no correspondence of any sort made by the defendant (Arik) to him in respect of the cancelled flight and no notice whatsoever had been given to him in advance about the cancellation.”

The plaintiffs’ joint statement of claim added, “That till 11:15hrs when the flight was scheduled to depart, there were no announcements for boarding and he had received no notices from the defendant at any point in time with reasons for the cancellation, after it was confirmed from the airport authorities that the flight was indeed cancelled.

“That the first plaintiff (Usman) paid the cash sum of N26, 391.00 (twenty six thousand three hundred and ninety one naira)for the purchase of the said flight ticket as well as the evidence of payment issued.

“That as at the time of filling this suit, there is no communication whatsoever from Defendant as to the cancelation of the flight or reimbursement of the amount spent.”

Mr Hussain, who narrated a similar ordeal, also stated that the check-in desk of the airline remained unmanned two hours after the scheduled departure time, and that “there were no announcements heralding the arrival of flight W3 838 to Yola.”

The second plaintiff stated that he had paid N51,525 for the flight ticket with the evidence of payment issued.

While the third plaintiff, Mr Danazumi, a lawyer, stated that he paid N74,772 for the flight ticket, the fourth plaintiff, Mr Usman, who stated that his scheduled trip to Yola was primarily to facilitate his mother’s medical emergencies and to attend a friend’s wedding ceremony, said he paid N51,525 to purchase the ticket.

Aside Mr Usman, whose ticket was for a one-way trip, the three other plaintiffs stated that their tickets were for return trips by which the airline was meant to return them to Abuja at different times on October 24, 25, and 27.

The plaintiffs stated that a few hours before the cancellation of the flight, Arik Air till sold tickets to intended passengers, including one Mustapha Sulaiman.

According to them, on the said October 22, other airlines were operating, and “in fact Max-Air took off to Yola at about 9:00 hours or thereabout”.

The plaintiffs who claimed that they snapped pictures of Arik’s unmanned check-in counters on October 22, 2020, stated that they tried to report the situation to NCAA, “but there was no one on seat to lodge the complaint.”

They added that “after waiting for about two hours after the scheduled departure time, it was clear the flight was cancelled.”

The plaintiffs stated that the Arik Air flight was the last flight to Adamawa and that there was no other flight available for them to fly on Friday and Saturday (October 23 and 24, 2020).

They stated that they lost N135,000 which they paid through Prof A. L Tukur for booking of rooms in Damada Hotel in Yola, as a result of the cancellation of the flights.

The plaintiffs, through their lawyer, Musa Danladi, therefore asked the court to among others declare that Arik Air “is in express breach of its contract” by failing to transport for the trips shown on the air tickets sold to them by the airline.

They also asked the court to declare that “the defendant is in direct breach of the National Civil Aviation Regulations and in violation of the plaintiffs rights when it failed to offer the plaintiffs immediate reimbursement in cash following the abrupt cancellation of flight W3 838 to Yola.”

They also asked the court to declare that the defendant violated NCAA regulation “when it failed to offer assistance in the form of hotel accommodation and transportation within the time limits set out by the regulations to the plaintiffs following the cancellation of flight W3 838 to Yola.”

They also urged the court to order monetary awards to them.

Buckingham Palace servant who stole memorabilia worth £100,000 to sell on eBay is jailed

A Buckingham Palace servant has been jailed for eight months after stealing medals and memorabilia worth £100,000.

Adamo Canto took a Companion of the Order of the Bath and a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order medal while claiming to be cleaning to prevent Covid-19.

They were among the objects the 37-year-old sold on eBay as his defense claimed he needed money to pay off debts he incurred as he tried to afford life on the Palace's "minimal" wages.

A picture signed by Prince William and wife Kate Middleton was another item stolen, while a photo album of the Royal State Banquet during US President Donald Trump's state visit was snatched up by an eBay buyer for £1,500.

The valuable objects were all stolen from the Royal Household and the Royal Shop at Buckingham Palace between November 11, 2019 and August 7 last year.

Former catering assistant Canto also took a bespoke Samsung phone which was custom made as a gift for the Duke of York.

Canto had worked at the palace for five years but was given extra Covid-19 cleaning duties which gave him access to lockers which he raided for the valuables.

At his sentencing hearing, Southwark Crown Court heard he swiped the goods so he could re-sell them to pay off payday loan debts racked up to boost his lifestyle on the Palace's 'minimal' wages.

He had no previous convictions, and had a successful career caring for the vulnerable, including those with Alzheimers.

A judge looked kindly on Canto, reducing his sentence from a starting point of 18 months, to just eight.

Judge David Tomlinson said: "This was a high culpability case because of the breach of trust and for the reasons I have already identified I cannot simply put it at the lower end of level two.

"I note the persistence with which you committed the offences. It was a period of some nine months.

"I give you full credit for your timely plea, level of cooperation, and good character. As far as I can see, you were in financial difficulty and thought this was the way out.

"I attach significant weight to what is said about your work in the care sector with vulnerable individuals.

"These offences are so serious that only a sentence of immediate custody is justified.

"I take a starting point of 18 months reduced in the first instance to 12 months which I will reduce by a further four months to address the current difficulties identified caused by the pandemic and the personal mitigation.

"The sentence of each count which will run concurrently is eight months imprisonment."

The court heard how officers who searched his parents' home, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, found stolen items, including a goldfish patterned tea set, and eBay records which showed he sold his haul for just £10,688.

A "conservative" estimate brought the total count of stolen items to 150. They have since been valued as being worth up to £100,000.

They also searched his home at Royal Mews, part of the palace, where they found items including silk pyjamas and a jewellery box nabbed from the Royal Shop.

Tragically, some of the items have still not been recovered. Canto previously pleaded guilty to the crimes at Westminster Crown Court.

Thugs kill man in Edo community over unpaid loan

The Police in Edo State is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a 55-year-old man, Enoragbon Imuetinyan, by unidentified persons in Ehen quarters, Urhonigbe community in Orhionmwon local government area of the state.

The deceased was reportedly murdered on January 3, 2021, after a protracted financial disagreement with a man identified as Omorogbe Okala.

The family of the 55-year-old man is currently seeking for justice over the gruesome murder of their breadwinner by the unknown thugs.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the matter is being investigated by the Homicide Department in state Command.

“The matter is now with the Homicide Department of the Edo State Police Command for investigation,” Mr Nwabuzor said, when inquiries concerning the matter were made.

But a family friend, who identified himself as Andrew Oboigbe, told PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday that the principal suspect, Mr Okala, stood in as a surety to one Edoghogho Otasowie who borrowed money from an association headed by the deceased since 2017.

Somewhere along the line, Mr Oboigbe continued, the borrower could not pay back the loan as agreed and the association had to fall back on the guarantor to retrieve their money.

According to Mr Oboigbe, in the course of attempting to retrieve the money, Mr Okala’s son took ill and eventually died, adding that the situation possibly led to a twist on the matter.

He said, “The deceased, Enoragbon Imuetinyan, was alleged to have engaged in a financial disagreement with Omorogbe Okala. The said Omorogbe Okala stood as a surety to one Edoghogho Otasowie who borrowed money from an association led by Mr Enoragbon Imuetinyan.

“The said Otasowie was unable to pay the money in full since 2017, a situation which made the leadership of the association to engage the guarantor for a refund. But recently, the son of the guarantor took ill.

“We learnt that the guarantor, Omorogbe Okala, met the now deceased in his house and threatened to kill him if his son dies. The said deceased, thereafter, wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police for protection, but as the police were treating the petition of a threat to life, the guarantor’s son died.”

Mr Oboigbe said possibly irked with the death of his son, the guarantor, Mr Okala, who is now at large, allegedly mobilised some persons to attack the deceased in his house in Ehen quarters.

He said he learnt that the hoodlums stormed the house around 3 p.m. on January 3, where they killed the deceased and burnt his house.

“When they came, we were told that several gunshots were fired into the man but there was no penetration. They then allegedly tied him in a moving vehicle and dragged him on the floor till he died. His mutilated body was then dumped in a flooded pit in the area,” he said.

Mr Oboigbe alleged after killing the 55-year-old man, the hoodlums returned to his house to destroy every property before setting it ablaze.

“The house of the deceased was completely burnt down by the irate persons,” he said.

He said that the children of the deceased are calling for justice for their late father.

In 2023, Nigerians will still vote us, reject you... APC tells PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said sustained criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari administration by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not earn the opposition party return to power in 2023.

National Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) APC, Sen. John J. Akpan Udoedehe made the declaration on Tuesday in a press statement.

Senator Udoedehe was reacting to Monday statement by the spokesman of the PDP, Kola Ologbodiyan where he dismissed the APC-led federal government as a monumental failure.

The Secretary of the APC Caretaker team who detailed the achievements of the Buhari administration further claimed that Nigerians were not willing to return to the 16 years of PDP administration when the collective patrimony of all Nigerians were looted by a few.

The statement read in part: “PDP has decided to play to the gallery in an attempt to play deniability and take away the gaze of Nigerians from the remarkable strides which the APC-led Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is carrying out amidst very trying circumstances. Nigerians are aware that due to the monumental sleaze and leakages of our collective patrimony actively supervised by PDP, the current administration of PMB inherited an empty treasury, coupled with the global decline in oil prices since 2014, which significantly trimmed the well-laid out plans of the APC administration.

“This is elementary economics. When your expenditure outstrips the supply of goods in the economy, inflation will occur in the long run. Just as we were able to pull through, Covid-19 came calling with worldwide economic ramifications. Nigerians understand that this was beyond us. Be that as it may, PMB went to work immediately by putting in place building blocks for a virile and sustainable Nigeria; economically, agriculturally, in the ease of doing business initiatives, infrastructural renaissance, the power sector reforms, in anti-corruption, social investment programs, and of course in building strong institutions that will outlive the present Administration.

“At the moment, these facts speak for themselves: The Treasury Single Account (TSA) is in operation and has successfully curbed the excesses of government officials who may be prone to graft.

“The government has successfully aligned the budget cycle with the JAN-DEC budget window to allow for better delivery of benefits to Nigerians.
