Drogba separates from wife after 10-year marriage

African football icon, Didier Drogba said that his ten year-old marriage to Lalla Diakate is over.

The Ivorian retired footballer broke the news on Instagram following a viral video, which captured him in bed with a mystery woman.

The Chelsea legend, 42, met Lalla Diakate in the late 1990s in Paris and they tied the knot in 2011.

Drogba wrote on Instagram: “I’m not in the habit of discussing my private life.

“But, because of speculation in the media today, I can confirm that sadly, after 20 years together, Lalla and I took the difficult decision to separate last year.

“We remain very close, and our main priorities have been to protect our children and our family’s private life.

“May God bless you.”

Drogba, one of the most decorated African footballer, enjoyed two spells at Chelsea, first arriving at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho in 2004. He spent eight years.

Then he returned in 2014 for a year-long stint and helped to take his tally to 104 goals in 254 top-flight matches for the club.

Drogba won many honours at Stamford Bridge, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2012.

‘I don’t know why the f*** I bought a Lamborghini’, Sergio Aguero rants

Sergio Aguero raged 'I don't know why the f*** I bought a Lamborghini' and admitted his £361,000 Aventador 'has cobwebs'.

The Manchester City striker regrets coughing up for his unused luxury supercar - hinting nice wheels aren't all they are cracked up to be.

The 32-year-old Argentine told TV show Santo Sabado: "I don't know why the f*** I bought a Lamborghini.

"It must have done about 1,200km (745 miles) in six years - I've barely used it.

"I've been thinking for two years about what the f*** I bought that car for.

"Now the only thing it does is get cold from the rain; it has cobwebs and everything."

Aguero collects a cool £250,000 a week at the Eithad with an annual income of £13million.

So the former Atletico Madrid forward is well placed to invest in the best four wheels money can buy.

Woman who traded in husband for her stepson had plastic surgery to make herself attractive to him

A weight-loss influencer who traded in her husband for her stepson - whose baby she is expecting next month - has admitted she underwent plastic surgery to make herself attractive to him.

But Marina Balmasheva, 35, from Russia, also insisted on a prenup so that she keeps all her money and assets in case of divorce from her new husband Vladimir 'Vova' Shavyrin, now 21.

She has known him since he was seven, calls him 'the most charming blue-eyes in the world', and was previously married to his father Alexey Shavyrin, 45, who now cares for their five adopted children.

The Russian blogger - with more than half a million followers - revealed her before and after pictures, explaining she underwent abdominoplasty a year ago to remove excessive skin after losing weight.

She also had face and neck lifts, a blepharoplasty, and Botox on her forehead.

'How a person can change,' she said. 'On the before photos I am 32-33, this February I will be 36.'

'So many people tell me to use makeup because of my young husband.

'But there is one thing - he fell in love with me with all my scars from plastic surgeries, cellulite, excessive skin and personality.

'And I do not want to seem better than what I am.'

Her ex complained that 'she seduced my son…He had not had a girlfriend before her. They were not shy to have sex while I was at home.

'I would have forgiven her cheating, if it wasn't my son. She was running to my son's bed from our bedroom when I was sleeping.

'After that she was coming back and lying in bed with me as if nothing had happened.'

She now says her previous marriage was 'not living but pretending,'

Balmasheva told her followers: 'Did I have regrets that I destroyed the family? Both yes and no.

'I was ashamed that I killed the stability of "mum and dad." Did I want to return to my ex? No. Do I feel anger and hatred to him? Not any longer.

'He is a good person and a wonderful father to our children. How did the children take the changes? Absolutely calmly.

'What [do I have] today? I am married. I moved to a bigger city. I love and I am loved.'

But she seems nervous that her new relationship with the trainee manager may not last.

'He is only beginning to settle down,' she explained. 'We now share everything but he understands and admits that it is me who earned for our car and first mortgage payment.

'We will have a child. Perhaps, more than one. I am hoping for a strong marriage, but it does not stop us from having a marriage contract with everything registered to me remaining mine in case of divorce.

'Why? Because we are together, but I am not his sponsor. Yes, now, while he is finding his feet, all expenses are on me. We know clearly who is earning what.

'I knew what I signed up for, and so did he [...] I will simply guide him and support him.'

She said that Vladimir's mother - another ex-wife of Alexey's - would help them care for the baby.

'I have an interesting experience given that my former mother-in-law was a former mother-in-law of my current mother-in-law,' she added.

China records first coronavirus death in eight months

China has reported its first Covid death in months, as a World Health Organisation (WHO) team arrived in the country to probe the pandemic’s origins.

The latest death raises the toll to 4,635 among 87,844 cases.

China’s relatively low case figures are seen as a testimony to the effectiveness of strict containment, tracing and quarantine measures.

However, the figures have also raised questions about the tight hold the government maintains on all information related to the outbreak.

CGTN, the English-language channel of state broadcaster CCTV, reported the WHO team’s arrival in the early hours of Thursday.

A government spokesman said this week they will “exchange views” with Chinese scientists but gave no indication whether they would be allowed to gather evidence.

The WHO team will undergo a two-week quarantine as well as a throat swab test and an antibody test for Covid-19, according to a post on CGTN’s official Weibo account, but will start working with Chinese experts via video conference while in quarantine.

NIN deadline stands, as NCC awaits government’s advice

The Nigerian Communications Commission on Wednesday said it was awaiting the advice of the Federal Government as regards the deadline for the integration of Subscriber Identification Modules with valid National Identity Numbers.

It also stated that the earlier announced deadlines were still in force despite the clamour for extension or outright suspension of the registration process.

Calls for deadline extension were mainly due to the large crowds that gather daily at the various offices of the National Identity Management Commission.

The Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Ikechukwu Adinde, told Punch correspondent in Abuja that no deadline extension had been approved.

He said, “Right now, apart from the recent information that we made concerning the extension, no further update yet.

“The information on this matter was the one that talked about when we moved the extension to January 19 for those who have NINs and February 9 for those who do not have.”

When probed further on whether there had been moves to either extend or suspend the exercise, Adinde replied, “No, no, no; if you follow the opinion of the public, it is in favour of extending it.

“And then, of course, recently there have been concerns on the effect of COVID-19 and all that. But I am sure government is listening and once we are advised, we will go to the press and announce the new position.

“However, as it is now, we are waiting to see what happens at the end of the day, as the recent deadline extension still stands.”

Randy lecturers attempted to sleep with me – Bayelsa first-class law graduate

The first female first-class law graduate of the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Ebizi Eradiri, has claimed that some randy lecturers almost scuttled her ambition of making first class.

Eradiri, who repeated the same first-class feat at the Nigerian Law School, spoke during a homecoming reception, tagged ‘#Schoolnobescam’ held in her honour by the Sele Eradiri Foundation in collaboration with other non-governmental organisations in Yenagoa on Wednesday.

Governor Douye Diri had on Monday formally received the Bayelsa-born female lawyer in company of her father, and announced the award of automatic scholarship for her master and doctorate degrees in any university in Nigeria or abroad.

Diri equally offered her automatic employment to lecture at the law faculty of the state-owned NDU and also declared her as the New Face of the Bayelsa Girl Child with a view to making her a role model for young girls in the state and the entire Ijaw nation to emulate.

Eradiri, who hails from the Yenagoa Local Government Area, said prayers, hard work and dedication to her studies helped her overcome the frustration by some s.e.x-for-marks lecturers.

She said, “I was very conscious of my dressing, which enabled me to get the best dressed female student in the Faculty of Law, in the year l was graduating. I made sure I didn’t wear skimpy things that would expose sensitive parts of my body.

“I felt that was the starting point for me not to even attract the wrong lecturers to myself. I would say it was prayer because there was a time when we had a borrowed course and a particular lecturer was trying to do something funny.

“When I sensed it from that particular lecturer in the first semester, l called home and told them what was going on and we all prayed.

“At some point, l had to escalate the issue to my HoD and told her what the lecturer was doing; she called and warned him. These are some of the challenges the girl child is likely to face, but through prayers and escalating them to the appropriate quarters, l think they can scale through.”

Eradiri said the lowest grade she had during her university days was a ‘C’ which was given to her by a lecturer who insisted on having s.e.xual intercourse with her.

She promised to deploy her appointment as the New Face of the Bayelsa Girl Child as a platform to propagate reading culture among the youth in the state.

Bullets sent in mail to Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou

Top Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou has been sent bullets in the mail while under house arrest in Vancouver, according to court testimony.

It was one of several alleged death threats revealed on Wednesday by the company providing her security.

Ms Meng was detained in 2018 on charges relating to allegedly misleading HSBC about Huawei's dealings in Iran.

Her case has created a rift between China and Canada, with Beijing repeatedly calling for her release.

The chief financial officer of Huawei was arrested at Vancouver International Airport on a warrant from the US, where she is facing charges of bank fraud and potentially causing HSBC to break US sanctions.

Days after she was released on bail, she was placed under house arrest in Vancouver. She has been fighting against her extradition to the US, which wants her to stand trial.

The threats were revealed at the British Columbia Supreme Court by Doug Maynard, chief operating officer of security firm Lions Gate Risk Management.

He said Ms Meng received "five or six" threatening letters at her residence in June and July 2020 and that the letters were "easily identifiable by markings on the outside". He added that "sometimes there were bullets inside the envelopes".

The role of the Vancouver police and any investigations is unclear.

Ms Meng has been in court pushing for conditions of her bail to be loosened, including dropping the daytime security detail that constantly follows her.

She is permitted to leave home between 6am and 11pm and pays for a round-the-clock security detail. She also wears a GPS tracking anklet as stipulated by her bail conditions.
