Exotic cars recovered as EFCC parades 30 suspected Internet Fraudsters in Enugu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered exotic cars as 30 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested in Enugu.

Various exotic cars including brand new Lexus ES 350 with no registration number, Black Toyota 2.4 with registration number ENU-598-SU, Black Mercedes Benz ML 350 jeep with registration number ABJ-275-DB, Black Lexus ES 330 with registration number UWN-901-MP, Black Lexus ES 350 with registration number JJJ-900-GK were recovered from the suspects.

Other incriminating materials recovered from them include various mobile phones and laptop computers.

The suspects are: Raphael Chidiebere, Dr. Onyechiefuna Victor, Oliobi Chukwujekwu, Alozie Ikenna, Lakeru John, Chijioke Onyedika, Chikwube Nwadinobi, Eze Chukwuebuka, Nwafor Ifeanyi, Chidobelu Chidera, Ozonwu Nnamdi, Joseph Emmanuel, Chukwunonyelu Chizoba Eze and Imachukwu Ogonna.

Others are Okwesi Kizito, Onuorah Emmanuel, Promise Okpowasili, Ezeanu Ugochukwu, Ogbonna Emenike, Ibeka Nzeribe, Nike Stanley Onyekachi, Chukwubuikem, Odono Charles Chimdindu, Onyechefuna Franklin, Onyechefuna Samuel, Iluka Fernando Chike, Udemefuna Daniel, Chiedu Chike Kingsley, Ezema Ikenna and Chuka Okoye.

A statement from the EFCC said their arrest at Thinkers Corner Extension, followed actionable intelligence obtained by the Commission on their alleged criminal activities which targeted mostly foreigners.

The commission said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the investigations were concluded.

Rape in school bus! Face of driver who did the unthinkable

Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 36-year-old school bus driver, Humble Michael, for having an unlawful carnal knowledge of a four-year-old pupil in the school bus.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday after the mother of the victim reported the matter at Ogijo Divisional headquarters.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

Oyeyemi said the mother of the victim told the police that “while her husband was bathing her daughter, he discovered that blood was gushing out of her private part, and when the girl was questioned, she disclosed to her parents that the driver of their school bus was the person who had sex with her on the 21st of January 2021 on their way coming from school.

“The victim stated further that after the driver had dropped all other school children at their various homes, she was the only person left in the bus, this gave the driver opportunity to park somewhere along the road and defiled the little innocent girl.”

The PPRO added that upon the report, the DPO Ogijo Division, CSP Muhammed Sulaiman Baba detailed his operatives to go after the suspect and got him arrested.

He said, “The victim was quickly taken to General hospital for treatment and the doctor’s report confirmed that she had been sexually abused.

“On interrogation, the suspect admitted that he actually committed the crime.”

 Oyeyemi, however, said, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

He added that the CP also appealed to parents to always make the wellbeing of their children especially female ones a number one priority so as to keep them safe from those evil men lurking around everywhere.

Covid-19: Nigeria records 27 new deaths, 1,114 fresh cases

Nigeria has recorded 27 new deaths from the coronavirus, even as the country recorded 1,114 fresh infections on Friday.

This was disclosed in the report published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the early hours of Saturday.

The new cases were recorded in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with Lagos still leading with 408 new infections.

The FCT had 95 cases, Plateau-90 Ondo-66 Kaduna-63 Oyo-56 Borno-46 Imo-42 Edo-41 Ogun-37 Rivers-31 Ekiti-25 Yobe-20 Kano-18 Akwa Ibom-18 Delta-15 Osun-15 Kwara-11 Bayelsa-6 Nasarawa-6 Zamfara-4 and Bauchi-1.

102,780 are also said to have recovered, while the death toll now stands at 1,577.

Nigerian lawmaker kills gunman in midnight attack

House of Representatives member, Abdullahi Balarabe Salame has disclosed that he killed one of the Gunmen that stormed his home, on Friday midnight.

They attacked his residence in the Bado area of Sokoto around 3am.

Salame, who represents Gwadabawa/Illela federal constituency, disclosed that he killed one of the assailants.

“I was attacked in my house in Sokoto by armed robbers. But by Allah’s powers, I was able to shoot and kill one, and injured some”, he said.

The lawmaker also shared photos of the foiled attack.

Salame, a former Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, is a 2023 governorship aspirant.

“They came to destroy him. Allah (SWT) did not give them the opportunity because Allah (SWT) promised to protect anyone who stands for truth and trust.

“This attack is not the first time. It has been done to the people who stand because the society is facing this kind of challenge”, a supporter, Bilal Goronyo wrote on Facebook.

Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the incident.

The spokesman, ASP Muhammad Sadiq said the robbery attempt was thwarted by the swift response of the joint metropolitan Police Patrol.

Sadiq noted that an investigation had commenced and assured that operatives were on the trail of the gang.

“The command also calls for calm and enjoins residents of Sokoto to promptly tender any useful information that could speed up the arrest of the perpetrators or help the ongoing investigation”, he said.

DJ Babus reportedly dies from coronavirus complications

International DJ, Producer, Writer and Remixer, Dj Babus has reportedly died from coronavirus complications.

Music executive Raezy Winston, revealed that DJ Babus had been down with the deadly virus for weaks before passing on.

He wrote; ''Lord!! 3 weeks ago I learnt privately that Dj Babus was hit with Covid and was in a terrible state. From not being properly attended to, to panting and struggling to breathe even while on oxygen (even if he was paying ridiculous!).

It hurts to know he ain’t make it. RIP Babu''.

Former Future Awards co-founder, Emilia Asim is dead

Emilia Asim, one of the founding members and a co partner of Red Media and The Future Awards Africa, alongside Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo, is dead.

Emilia who was in her 30s died on Friday January 29th from an undisclosed illness.

The company she headed, AML Media, announced her death saying; “They say a Captain goes down with her ship but for us, our Captain took a bow. There are no words to describe our grief and loss. Today, a star went out and our world is dark. We will always miss you Emilia.”

Agenpo, a digital commodity trading company where she was a board member, announced her death saying, “We regret the demise of one of our Advisory Board members, Emilia Asim-Ita. On her own, Emilia was very accomplished in her field of Communications. With us, Emilia was constantly vibrant in the discharge of her duties and always sought to open new doors for us. RIP”

Emilia was a brand strategist and communicator who worked with many brands, media and non-governmental establishment. She was also the author of Digital Wealth Book.

Emilia created AML Media 10 years ago after ending her partnership with Chude Jideonwo and Debola Williams of Red Media following an undisclosed disagreement with the trio.

Paul Okoye gives more details on why P Square broke up

Paul Okoye now known as Rudeboy, and his twin brother, Peter, popularly known as Mr P, were unarguably one of the most popular twins in Africa when they both belonged to the music group known as P-Square. 

However, since the group broke up some years ago, there have been many speculations and conjectures as to what could have gone wrong with them. 

In an exclusive interview with Saturday Beats, Rudeboy emphatically stated that the issues that led to the split of the group had been around for a long time.

He said, “I actually started my career as a solo artiste and I had recorded quite a number of songs. My twin brother (Peter) also had a dance group which I was part of before but left after some time.

 He (Peter) was brought in (to form P-Square) to create a unique group that would be different from other groups in existence. I was singing while he would dance, and it was the idea of our elder brother, Jude. We only had a stage collaboration, not a music collaboration.

What made P-Square was the division of labour we practised. I was in charge of singing, Peter handled the dancing aspect and stagecraft, while Jude was our manager and he directed our videos. 

However, it got to a point when one person started making demands and called for the sack of some members of the team. Because we wanted peace to reign, we would let the affected employees go. That went on for some time but it got to a time that things could no longer continue that way.

“Our case is like that of a husband and wife whose marriage is not working but post lovely pictures on social media. People who don’t know the details would see the rosy pictures and plead for the union not to break up. But, they don’t know what is happening behind closed doors. The best thing is actually for them to go their separate ways.

“Some people think that all these started recently but it has been going on for a long time. I can confidently tell you that my first solo album was supposed to be ‘Game Over’ (released in 2007). That title, ‘Game Over’, meant I was done with the group. 

I recorded the album as a solo artiste and sent it to some people but they were surprised that I was the only one on the album. People said different things and I later shelved my plan.”

On whether a collaboration was possible between them even if they did not come back together as a group, the ‘Woman’ singer said, “The question is, does he see us together? It is not compulsory that everybody in a music group must sing. 

P-Square was never a group of two singers (rather, it was a group of one singer and one dancer). I honestly tried my best for the group to work. There are so many issues the public are unaware of that led us to this point. I choose not to say many things because I want to protect my family.”

Sarah Ofili recounts how she lost a set of twins... they were brought out dead

Sarah Odili Adukeh has recounted how she lost a set of twins and how she still groves over them.

Recounting the very sad ordeal on social media, she said every January 29th has been a bad day for her, but she is now managing to pull through. 

She says she is sharing her story to encourage a mother out there, because she also got a bit healed reading other mothers stories too.

''As today ends I have decided to stop calling 29th of Jan the worst day of my life, but now as the day I gained 2 beautiful Angels. I celebrate them! Exactly 3yrs ago, 1 month after our traditional wedding we lost our beautiful set of twins, a boy n a girl. I remember every pain n sweat and tear... I remember not even worrying about myself but staring at my husband wondering if he wld be ok, after seeing his babies go and still having to support me thru surgery how scary that most have been for him. I remember waking up from surgery n asking for him, I was told how he picked them babies up by himself put them in a box and carried them on his lap in the car all the way to the cemetery. Sat with them till all paper works were done and said goodbye to them on behalf of both of us coz he didn’t want me to wake up and deal with all that. All in one day! To God be the glory we pulled through our first year of marriage with such heartbreak, also still dealing with my mums recovery and my husband losing his own mum...Whew! As I watch my daughter today I can’t help but wonder “is this what they would have looked like too?”... how sweet to know she’s all in 1! Today we had 2 butterflies around us constantly I thought oh well there they go watching us! I decided to share this coz when I was depressed n lonely I read other mums stories on IG and they got me thru my days. So maybe there’s just 1 mum out there I can console. The memory and questions never go away, I still cry even now as I type this. U will heal slowly but surely. U will smile again when ur rainbow baby comes. Federal govt. contemplates lockdown in Lagos, Abuja, others

The Federal Government on Friday said it is contemplating a targeted lockdown in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna and major cities in Nigeria as the number of COVID-19 cases soars in the West African nation.

Although recoveries from the disease in the country have crossed 100,000, the Nigerian government is worried that with more than 127,000 infections, many citizens are not adhering to the safety protocols. 

“Certainly, even if we are going to have a lockdown, it is not going to be a total lockdown. A couple of weeks back, we analysed the data and we identified the hotspot local government areas,” the National Incident Manager of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Mukhtar Muhammad, said on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. 

“Mostly, the areas affected are the urban local governments in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Plateau. Even in most other states, it is the urban areas that are involved. So, if we are going to have any restrictions, it will be in these areas.

“The urban areas are the most affected and that is why we have these superspreaders and that is where we are going to target. We have analysed that and we are advising the states based on the data that these are the focused areas where these transmissions are more than the others.”

Pamela Anderson branded 'home wrecker' by new hubby's ex

Pamela Anderson's whirlwind romance and marriage to a builder she contracted to repair her Canadian home has broken up a family of five, his ex has claimed.

Anderson, 53, told DailyMailTV on Wednesday in a world exclusive interview that she had married Dan Hayhurst, 40 - her fifth husband.

But on Thursday Hayhurst's ex, named only as Carey, accused Anderson of being a 'home wrecker' in an interview with The Sun.

Anderson's wedding took place on Christmas Eve at her estate in the town of Ladysmith, on Vancouver Island.

'We're really happy. I'm happier than I've ever been,' Anderson told DailyMailTV.

'It's like full circle - coming home and falling in love with somebody who's pretty much exactly like me, you know, I think the rest of it was a dream.

'This seems more like reality and it's just a good feeling to be home and to be with someone that genuinely cares about me and for who I really am, who I think I am, you know, just like a girl, from the same area and we get along great.'

But Carey hit out at the star's version of events.

'This is not the lockdown love story which is being portrayed, it's all a facade,' she told The Sun.

'I decided to speak out because I want people to know that my almost five-year relationship, with three children involved, ended because of the affair Pam and Dan started while he was still with me.

'It's sad that people celebrate this and cheer them on, when it started with deceit, denials and life-shattering choices for all the people involved.'

Carey told the paper that Hayhurst had been living with her, her daughter Denise, 21, and his two young children until the summer.

The pair never married, but Carey said they were in a committed relationship.

'We did everything together, like family vacations, family fishing trips, we worked on family projects together,' she said.

'It was always us.'

Carey and Hayhurst met five years ago on a dating app and first lived in the town of Squarmish before moving to Vancouver Island.

26 year-old BBC actor hanged himself because he was jobless during lockdown

An actor who appeared in BBC crime drama Luther alongside Idris Elba hanged himself while out of work during the first Covid lockdown, an inquest has heard.

Luke Westlake, 26, had messaged his ex-girlfriend threatening to take his own life the night before he was found dead, a coroner heard today. 

After graduating from one of the UK’s top drama schools in 2017, the talented actor went on to appear in Luther and BBC dramas Doctors and No Offence.

An inquest today heard that during the first national lockdown last year, the actor was stressed about being out of work and was suffering from a long distance relationship breakdown.

Luke, from Aylesbury, Bucks., tried to take his own life in April and again in June, the assistant coroner heard.

Just over a week after the first attempt in June, Luke messaged his ex-girlfriend, Hannah Llewelyn, threatening to kill himself - something that was “not uncommon,” the coroner heard.

Tragically, the young actor was found dead the next morning on June 18. 

The cause of death was concluded as hanging following a post mortem examination, and a toxicologist discovered a substantial amount of THC in Luke’s body - indicating heavy cannabis use.

Woman helped her sister kill her partner so she could marry their dad

A woman who married her own dad spent the wedding night dismembering her ex-boyfriend.

Amanda McClure, 31, had s.e.x with her dad Larry McClure, 56 and married him on March 11, 2019.

Just weeks earlier they had murdered Amanda's ex-partner Thomas McGuire, 38.

Amanda killed her ex with the help of her sister, Anna Marie Choudhary, and her father Larry McClure on Valentine’s Day, 2019.

In a court hearing Amanda's sister revealed she had been told to "act like a happy witness" at the couple's wedding.

Choudhary helped cover-up the incestuous wedding, a sentencing hearing heard on Wednesday, reports Metro.

Choudhary went on to reveal the sickening couple exhumed and dismembered Mr McGuire's body on their wedding night.

Mr McGuire was drugged and beaten to death before being buried, Choudhary said Larry Mclure wanted to rebury his body in two different places as he wanted to sell his house.

After Mr McGuire's death, the McClure's "went on like nothing happened" and "started having a relationship as soon as he was buried," said Choudhary.

Choudhary could be jailed for up to 40 years after admitting second-degree murder in a plea deal.

Amanda has been jailed for 40 years after her sentencing in October 2020, Larry was jailed for life without parole.

The sick trio killed John McGuire by hitting him over the head with a wine bottle, injecting him with methamphetamine and strangling him with a plastic bag

After burying McGuire’s body in a shallow grave McClure later exhumed her husband’s body and mutilated it by driving wooden stakes through his torso.

McClure’s father, Larry McClure Snr, 55, has already begun a life sentence for murder. During his trial he said his daughter Amanda was the ringleader of the plot, and said it was she who wrapped a black rubbish bag around the victim’s neck.

Presiding Judge Ed Kornish told McClure, who will be over 70 when she gets out of jail, that he hoped she would get help with her drugs problems while she was inside.

He added that McClure should take full responsibility for the “heinous” murder and added: "After killing John, you dug him up later.

"When you all dug him up his body was dismembered and stakes of some kind were driven through his body.

"Then you reburied him – there was no reason for this."
