Man's skin turns bright yellow after years of drinking and smoking

A man grew a giant tumour that caused his skin to turn bright yellow – after decades of heavy drinking and smoking.

The 60-year-old man, identified only by his surname Du, was rushed to hospital in the central Chinese city of Huai'an.

Doctors discovered two tumours, one of which was located in his pancreas and blocking his bile ducts.

Du was diagnosed with jaundice, and disturbing photos show his neck and stomach turned a dark shade of yellow.

Doctors said he had been a heavy smoker and drinker for more than 30 years.

The tumour blocking Du’s bile duct was diagnosed as malignant, and doctors pleaded with him to quit the booze and fags.

Since the operation to remove the tumours, his skin has returned to its normal colour.

The medics said that biliary tract obstruction was one of the main causes for jaundice, which results in a yellowish or greenish pigmentation of the skin and even of the whites of the eyes.

Du has since been discharged and is determined to improve his lifestyle.

Two girls, 15, 'drugged and gang-r*ped by 10 men' after meeting on Snapchat

Two 15-year-old girls were drugged and gang r*ped by 10 men after meeting a man on Snapchat, a court heard.

They pleaded with them to stop during the attack in a park in Australia, it was said.

Four men have been charged with drugging and s3xually assaulting the girls in Calamvale District Park, south of Brisbane.

The court heard one man, aged 19, told one victim to "suck my d***" during the alleged sexual assault, the Mirror reports.

The man, who faces 40 charges including 16 counts of r*pe, unsuccessfully applied for bail in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police say the girls came into contact with one of the men on Snapchat, before meeting up with them on December 28.

In the park they were plied with alcohol and drugs before they were r*ped and threatened with a broken bottle by one man, the hearing was told.

Senior Constable Min Hu told the court: "They were aware of their age.

"They seduced them with alcohol and drugs and r*ped them."

He said each alleged rape lasted "10 to 15 minutes” and the 19-year-old man told one of the girls "sorry if we hurt you”.

Defence lawyer Bianca Van Heerden said her 19-year-old client was at the park on the night, but denied the accusations.

She said the charges have come as “an absolute shock” which he plans to “strongly contest”, The Courier-Mail reported.

Ms Van Heerden said her client had cannabis for his "personal use" and supplied the alcohol, which was "shared" with the group.

But he did not know the teenagers were underage and “was led to believe the girls were older than they were”, she added.

The court heard there are claims the alleged sexual assaults were filmed, although such videos are yet to come to light if they exist.

Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll said it is likely more people will be charged in the coming days.

She said: "This is an absolutely sickening incident, and something those young girls will have to live with for the rest of their lives.”

Another three men, aged between 19 and 22, have also been charged with about 40 offences each.

One appeared in court on Saturday and the other two were due to appear at Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday.

The charges include rape, indecent treatment of a child under 16, stupefying to commit indictable offence, taking a child for immoral purposes and assault with intent to commit r*pe.

Ogun Govt disowns Sunday Igboho, says we didn’t invite him

The Ogun government on Monday refuted reports on some social media platforms insinuating that it had enlisted the help of Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, to combat crimes in the state.

Igboho, had stormed Ogun on Monday on his way to Ketu in Yewa North Local Government where soldiers escorted herdsmen to graze in the community and beat up residents recently.

While addressing his supporters in Abeokuta, Igboho said any Fulani herdsman who engaged in kidnapping would be flushed out of all parts of Yorubaland to ensure there is peace.

He also said he was in the state based on the invitation of Governor Dapo Abiodun. He said he will visit the Governor after he and his supporters returned from Yewa where the herdsmen were allegedly  wreaking havoc.

But Ogun Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhj. Abdulwaheed Odusile, dismissed the report in in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Odusile said that the report which emanated from an interview granted by Hon. Remmy Hazzan, the Special Adviser on Public Communication to Gov. Dapo Abiodun, was quoted out of context.

“The interview was twisted to achieve sensational effects.

“In the interview, Hazzan had said that the state government, in its usual inclusive approach to governance, would continue to work with all the stakeholders, both within and outside the state to ensure security of lives and property.

“Sadly, however, this statement was disingenuously twisted to mean that the state had invited Mr. Adeyemo to help curb insecurity.

“This is regrettable and totally misleading.

“The Dapo Abiodun-led Administration, since inception, has been known to be inclusive in its approach, collaborating and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including security issues.

“This has resulted in the achievement of the enviable status and recognition we enjoy as the most secured state in the country.

” A recent award given to us by the Business Day Newspaper, among other organisations is a testimony to this,” he said.

Odusile recalled that the Dapo Abiodun-led Administration had taken giant strides in securing the state since it came to office.

“Upon assuming office, this administration restructured the Ogun Security Trust Fund and put the critical stakeholders (private sector) at the driving seat.

“It strengthened the engagement with security agencies in the state and provided them with 100 Hilux patrol vehicles, 200 motorcycles and other equipment to make them more effective and efficient.

“Our government also partnered with other states in the South-West region to set up the Amotekun Security Network

‘We have also appointed two Special Assistants ( on ethnic relations) to ensure smooth interface with non-indigenes on a wide variety of issues, including security.

“This constant stakeholders’ engagement approach runs through all the government activities and programmes.

“Therefore, Hon. Remmy Hazzan’s statement of working with stakeholders within and outside the state should be viewed within this context.

“For avoidance of doubt, Ogun government will continue to deploy all constitutionally sanctioned means to fight crimes and criminals in the state.

“It will continue to work with institutions that the constitution and other statutes have saddled with the responsibility of protection of lives and property.

“At all times, the government will ensure that all security agencies and indeed all stakeholders operate within the ambit of the law.

” The government will neither welcome nor endorse any initiative that amounts to self-help or one that is outside the contemplation of the constitution,” he said.

Air Force officers kill Federal poly lecturer ‘for not identifying self’, academic union kicks [photos]

Nigerian Air Force personnel attached to the 211 Regiment of the NAF Base, Neze, Imo State, have shot dead a Computer Science lecturer of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede in Imo State, Okonye Nduka.

It was learnt that Nduka was killed by the trigger-happy military personnel while he was returning from a church programme last Monday and the officers stopped him on the highway.

It was gathered that the military personnel thereafter shot the lecturer dead on the excuse that he refused to identify himself.

Apart from Nduka, they also shot dead a former student of the polytechnic who was with the lecturer in the same vehicle.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, while strongly condemning the action of the military men, has called for an investigation into the killing of its member, Nduka.

ASUP on Thursday in a statement by its Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Precious Nwakodo, also asked for the relocation of the NAF Base currently located close to the institution, saying the excesses of the military men had been a source of worry and conflict within the polytechnic community.

“The zonal secretariat of ASUP Zone D has received reports of the killing of a member of the union from Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Comrade Okonye Nduka.

“The killing of Comrade Okonye, who was until his death a lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, was reportedly carried out by armed men suspected to be from the NAF 211 Regiment Group Base in Neze, Owerri.

“Comrade Okonye was reportedly gunned down by the trigger-happy men along with an ex-student of the same polytechnic as they were on their way back from a church programme.

“The killing of our member is a brutal reminder of the stained reputation of security agents in the country, particularly in the area of extrajudicial killings,” the union said.

The union said it was not satisfied with the “excuses of mistaken identity” saying that Comrade Okonye and the other occupants of his vehicle were unarmed and never resisted arrest when the trigger-happy officers pointed guns at them.

“The killing of Comrade Okonye, a budding academic by these men cannot be swept under the carpet as the polytechnic community, as well as the people of Ukwuani in Delta State, have been robbed of the contributions of this young comrade to society particularly in his area of professional competence.

“The union is therefore calling on the government to institute a full scale “no holds barred” investigation into the killing of our comrade and his friend through an investigative panel, the unveiling of these gunmen and their prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others who are in the business of molesting and killing harmless unarmed citizens for fun.

“The union is equally demanding compensation for the families of our fallen comrade and his friend as the families have been deprived of their breadwinners in such avoidable and unacceptable circumstances.

“ASUP also called for the relocation of the 211 Regiment group, Air Force base currently located close to the institution as the excesses of the soldiers have been a constant source of the conflict between the soldiers and the polytechnic community.

“We are convinced that the current location of the base and its proximity to the polytechnic community is an error that must be corrected to forestall future killings as the soldiers have on several occasions have been reported to have overstepped their bounds by molesting citizens without provocation,” the union added.

Yemi Alade has revealed she ignored Beyonce‘s email for two months.

The sensational singer disclosed this in an interview with OSG, during which she talked about how she nearly lost out on her collaboration with Beyonce on “Black Is King” visual album.

Speaking with OSG, Yemi said she ignored “Queen Bey” for two months, thinking it was from fraudsters.

She said, “We thought it was a scam email… I wasn’t the one receiving the emails, my management was and the thing is that, you have to be a crazy beyond fan like me to know her company’s name is “Parkwood”, So you’re getting emails from “Parkwood” about a collaboration with Beyoncé?!… My manager was telling me that he keeps getting these messages from Parkwood. He sounded very irritated and he was thinking of maybe blocking the email… and I asked him what did you say? Did you say “Parkwood?” I said (screams) that is Beyoncé!!!!…”

Speaking on how long it took for them to actually respond to the email, Yemi Alade said “it took a while.. we were at the end of the collection like..they’ve been working on this for a while, maybe a month or two, I think even someone at some point came to Nigeria and they were trying to meet me but you know how some people are, they don’t want some people to meet some people.”

Immediately after learning of her manager’s error, she immediately boarded a plane to Las Vegas, and made her way to Beyoncé’s studios.

“I had no idea what was coming. When we were done with the meeting, I went back to my apartment. I just woke up the next morning I couldn’t talk, definitely could not sing. I had no voice, I pushed and I got something out of it,” she said.

Insurgents destroy electricity tower, blackout hits Maiduguri

Residents of Maiduguri and environs have been thrown into lingering blackout following the destruction of one of the towers supplying electricity to the city from the national grid.

The blackout, which has lasted for one week, has grounded many businesses that are relying on power.

Those operating on generators are managing to render skeletal services.

Some residents, who spoke to newsmen, not only condemned the action of the insurgents but lamented the continued inability of the authorities concern to restore the power.

“It’s now one week and most people don’t know why there is no electricity in Maiduguri.

“We need to know what caused it and efforts by the power company to address the matter.

“You can’t leave people in darkness without explanation,’’ a resident, Ibrahim Abubakar, said.

Also, a welder, Moses Bala, said the development has grounded his business because he solely depends on electricity from the national grid for his work.

“Because of steady supply over the months, I solely depend on power from government and now that there is no power for one week; I remain out of business.

“I can’t afford a generator as I am still young in this business,’’ Bala said.

He appealed to the authorities concern to expedite action to restore the electricity.
