Oritsefemi replies his wife, Nabila Fash and ex-manager

It seems the end to the fresh messy fight between Oritsefemi and his wife might not end soon.

Recall his wife, Nabila yesterday called out a certain lady for daring to come to their house to sleep with the singer. Her longtime friend who also at a point managed the singer also came out to support her saying the singer as been a cheat all these while.

Well, Femi is now saying Kara is also a cheat and claimed she slept with her friend's husband in UK. He also went on to insult her saying men sleep with her and dump her after wards.

Slamming his wife, he said her salary is not up to the fee he collects for a mere collaboration not to talk of her feeding him. His fans who were upset about the new adultery scandal had called him out saying, he should respect himself and realize his wife even feeds him.

He denies that. His posts;

WTO to appoint Okonjo-Iweala DG next week

Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is set to be appointed as its first female and first African to lead the World Trade Organization next week.

The organisation made this known in a statement titled, ‘WTO General Council to consider appointment of next Director-General’, on its website on Tuesday.

The global trade body announced that it would hold a special meeting of its General Council on February 15 “to consider the appointment of the next WTO director-general”.

“The WTO’s General Council will hold a special meeting on 15 February at 15:00 Geneva time to consider the appointment of the next Director-General. The meeting will take place in virtual format,” the statement added.

This is coming after that US President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday offered its “strong support” to Okonjo-Iweala to lead WTO, clearing a path for her to become the body’s first female and first African leader.

The move marks another sharp split with former president Donald Trump who paralysed the organisation and opposed the candidacy of the former Nigerian finance minister who was backed by many other countries.

The US Trade Representative in a statement earlier on Friday cited Okonjo-Iweala “wealth of knowledge in economics and international diplomacy” and said she had “proven experience managing a large international organisation”.

USTR also noted that South Korea’s trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee – whom the Trump administration supported – had abandoned her bid to head the WTO earlier Friday.

The process to name a successor for Roberto Azevedo, who stepped down last August, has been deadlocked for months.

Key WTO ambassadors tapped Okonjo-Iweala back in October as the best pick to lead the organisation, but without US support the process was left at a standstill since the director-general is normally chosen by consensus among all 164 member states.

Nigeria’s first woman finance minister trained as a development economist – she has degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard.

66-year-old Iweala spent a quarter of a century at the World Bank, rising to be managing director and running for the top role in 2012, and is seen as a trailblazer in her home country.

Israel discovers 1,850-year-old coin with emperor’s portrait

A rare bronze coin, dating back some 1,850 years, was discovered in northern Israel, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) said on Tuesday.

The coin was found by an Israeli soldier during a training exercise in the Carmel coastal mountain range.

The coin was minted in the ancient city of Geva Philippi, also known as Geva Parashim, as in the Roman period, cities (poleis) were granted the right to mint their own coins.

On its obverse, the coin bears the head of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius, who ruled in years 138-161 CE.

The reverse shows the moon god Men with the phrase “legend of the people of Geva Phillipi.’’

The number marked on the coin indicates 217 years since the municipal council was evidently established, and its citizens were allowed self-government under the Roman Empire.

Oritsefemi breaks silence on wife and his ex-manager accusing him of cheating

Singer OritseFemi, has reacted to speculations that he slept with a strange woman in his matrimonial home.

Recall his wife yesterday took to social media to send a message to the woman who came to her matrimonial home that she is lucky she didn't meet her in her house.

Nabila had written; “Whoever the imbecile is that came to my house while I was away at work to have s.ex, you need to identify yourself. It was shocking news when it was posted a few months back, but now I can confirm. On a Monday morning, when people are out to look for daily bread some people, it is sex that is their problem.”

But now, Oritsefemi has denied the allegations to The Punch saying his wife's post wasn't directed at him but to his friend who is staying with them at the moment.

He said: “I have seen all the news reports about me online and I do not understand what it is all about. My wife went online to write some things but they are not about me. I do not invite women into my matrimonial home. My wife’s post is not about me. It is about my friend, my very close friend that came in from London. He stayed with me and she was upset that I allowed my friend to bring women into our house.

“I have explained to her that he is my very good friend and he accommodated me anytime I travel out of the country. Because of this issue, I had to ask my friend to leave. In fact, I also had to chase all the boys living with me even though they know nothing about this incident. I do not cheat on my wife. My wife and I do not have an issue, everything is cool at home; in fact, she left for work not so long ago,” the singer said.

The singer also addressed a lengthy post by his former manager, Kara, who alleged that she spent her money to promote him but she was never compensated.

Responding to his former manager’s allegation, the Double Wahala singer said, “Just leave Kara, I don’t want to have anything to do with her, she is my ex-manager, so I don’t want to talk about her. There is no point addressing Kara because I saw all the things she wrote and I can’t find one good point in it. She said that I left her in Europe. Is she not a citizen? Till now she is still abroad and that is where she resides. So what is she talking about? I am a Nigerian citizen and when I was done in Europe I came back to Nigeria and she stayed back because that is where she is based. So what did I do wrong?”

Ref withdraws from Premier League game after death threats

Premier League referee Mike Dean will not officiate this weekend after he and his family received online death threats following two controversial incidents.

The 52-year-old referee sent off West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek for catching Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic with his elbow on Saturday, days after dismissing Southampton defender Jan Bednarek at Old Trafford.

Dean reviewed the incidents on the pitchside monitor after consulting VAR before making his decisions. Both have since been overturned on appeal.

The referee asked to be stood down from the next round of Premier League fixtures and was not included on the match officials list for the forthcoming weekend, though he will be in charge of Wednesday’s FA Cup tie between Leicester and Brighton.

Professional Game Match Officials Board managing director and former referee Mike Riley offered Dean the organisation’s full support.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said the threats to Dean and his family were “inexcusable” and called for more action from social media companies.

Soucek also spoke out against the abuse levelled at Dean, tweeting that decisions “made on the pitch should stay on the pitch”.

“There is no place for abuse of any kind,” he said. “It is in the past and I’m now focused on the rest of the season.”

LASU postpones exam indefinitely as workers shut campus

The management of the Lagos State University has postponed the 2019/2020 first semester examinations indefinitely after non-academic staff shut the entrance of the university.

The Punch gathered that workers under the aegis of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have declared a nationwide strike.

It was learnt that members of the NASU branch of the unions shut the entrance of LASU in a bid to disrupt the ongoing examination in the school.

The workers shut examination halls and other facilities in the school.

The management announced the postponement in a statement on Monday, titled, ‘2019/2020 first semester GNS examination postponed indefinitely’, by its Head of Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ademola Adekoya.

The statement read, “As the 2019/2020 first semester examinations of Lagos State University (LASU) come to an end, the General Nigerian Studies examination has been postponed indefinitely.

“According to the Director, Centre For General Nigerian Studies, the postponement became expedient because of the ongoing industrial action by some of the unions of the Institution.

He added that a new date for the examination would be announced in due course.

“All the concerned students are advised to check the university information platforms, website, official bulletin and others from time to time on the new dates for the GNS examination.”

IGP didn’t pay N2bn for tenure extension —Police

The Nigeria Police Force has said that the tenure extension of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, was not paid for.

The Punch reported that the IGP’s tenure was extended by three months by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi who made the announcement said the extension was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor.

However, the police, in a statement issued on Monday, described as untrue a report (not by The Punch) that the tenure extension was purchased by the IGP for N2bn.

“The Police High Command has described as untrue, unfounded, defamatory and libellous, the publication dated February 07, 2021, which alleged that the IGP paid over 2 Billion Naira for the tenure extension,” the statement said.

“The Force wishes to state categorically that the extension of service of the IGP was strictly the prerogative of the President and was never paid for as maliciously reported in the publication.

“The insinuations that the IGP did not “celebrate” his extension smacks of ignorance and a pathetic misplacement of priority.

“The extension does not call for merry-making or celebration but a time for more work, rededication to duty and selfless service to the nation.

“The IGP, while assuring the nation of an unwavering commitment by the Force under his leadership, to improved service delivery, safety and security of the citizenry, enjoins members of the public to disregard and discountenance the publication as evidently untrue and unfounded. The IGP is undistracted and the Force remains motivated and committed to delivering on its mandate, especially the task of neutralizing current and emerging internal security threats.

The statement added that the IGP has directed his legal team to commence legal actions against the online news platform.

FG seals Abuja laboratory for issuing fake Covid-19 results

The Federal Government has sealed an Abuja-based laboratory for issuing fake COVID-19 results to international travellers.

The Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed this on Monday at the weekly press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He said the development followed an investigation conducted by the government after a media report last year revealed underhand dealings of some laboratories issuing fake results.

Recall that an online newspaper, The Cable, had in an undercover story in December 2020 reported that for N25,000, travellers were getting fake COVID-19 test results.

Ihekweazu said based on that report, an investigation was conducted and the affected laboratory was sealed with the assistance of the Federal Capital Territory Authority.

Ibarapaland now safe, says Oyo Amotekun commandant

The Commandant of the Oyo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, Retired Col. Olayinka Olayanju, has declared that Ibarapaland is safe and free of killers and kidnappers.

The Oyo State Government had deployed 200 operatives of the Amotekun in Ibarapa Local Government Area of the state to checkmate the crisis between Ibarapa indigenes and Fulani herdsmen.

“These operatives will launch missions to rid the forests of criminals. They will be presenting daily reports of their activities to me in the short run and periodic reports in the long run,” Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state had said.

Olayanju, who disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan on Monday, said he would personally lead anyone interested in taking a tour of parts of Ibarapaland earlier hit by herders/farmers crisis.

According to him, farmers and the law-abiding people in the area are going about their businesses without molestation.

He also denounced some audio and video posts on social media, which tend to raise what he called “clearly unfounded alarms” about the Ibarapa security situation.

“I am in Aiyete and I‘ve been moving around Ibarapaland freely, no one has reported any adverse security issue to me.

“No security challenges observed in Ibarapa Central and North contrary to rumours been peddled,” Olayanju stated.
