A Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside the order it made on November 4, 2020 freezing accounts linked with some promoters of the #EndSARS protest that took place across the country last year.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in a ruling on Wednesday, also ordered all affected banks to “immediately defreeze the affected accounts.’
Justice Mohammed proceeded to strike out the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1384/2020 filed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and in respect of which the ex-parte order freezing the accounts for 180 days was made on November 4, 2020.
The court’s decision was informed by the withdrawal of all processes filed in relation to the suit by lawyers to all parties.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Tuesday alerted Nigerians to the merchants of malpractices in the centres of its 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in some Northern parts of the country.
According to the organisation, examination scam syndicates in the Computer-Based Test centres, which used to be in the Southern part of Nigeria, has now crept into the North.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, who stated these during a press conference in Abuja, said over 400 candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria had been tracked for admission fraud,.
JAMB also paraded one Buhari Abubakar, who was reportedly caught in an attempt to impersonate one Muhammad Sanusi, his alleged accomplice, in examination malpractice.
Both suspects, from Kano State, were arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Oloyede said JAMB would expend about N100m on the prosecution of 200 of the over 400 persons involved in impersonation in the 2020 UTME.
While alleging that some tertiary institutions were accomplices in the widespread irregularities, he said the first 64 cases of CBT infractions treated by JAMB were from the North, with some having multiple cases of up to 96 irregularities.
He said, “In Nigeria, people don’t copy good things but the bad things. The cases of exam malpractices which used to be in the South has now crept to the North and the first 20 of such cases we tracked came mostly from the North, especially Kano.
“This year, we had over 400 people that were caught whereby those who wrote the exams were different from those who applied. About 200 of the candidates would be prosecuted, five from each state of the federation, as JAMB does not have the resources to prosecute all the 400 candidates. Prosecuting a candidate would cost the board over N500,000.”

It seems the end to the fresh messy fight between Oritsefemi and his wife might not end soon.
Recall his wife, Nabila yesterday called out a certain lady for daring to come to their house to sleep with the singer. Her longtime friend who also at a point managed the singer also came out to support her saying the singer as been a cheat all these while.
Well, Femi is now saying Kara is also a cheat and claimed she slept with her friend's husband in UK. He also went on to insult her saying men sleep with her and dump her after wards.
Slamming his wife, he said her salary is not up to the fee he collects for a mere collaboration not to talk of her feeding him. His fans who were upset about the new adultery scandal had called him out saying, he should respect himself and realize his wife even feeds him.

Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is set to be appointed as its first female and first African to lead the World Trade Organization next week.
The organisation made this known in a statement titled, ‘WTO General Council to consider appointment of next Director-General’, on its website on Tuesday.
The global trade body announced that it would hold a special meeting of its General Council on February 15 “to consider the appointment of the next WTO director-general”.
“The WTO’s General Council will hold a special meeting on 15 February at 15:00 Geneva time to consider the appointment of the next Director-General. The meeting will take place in virtual format,” the statement added.
This is coming after that US President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday offered its “strong support” to Okonjo-Iweala to lead WTO, clearing a path for her to become the body’s first female and first African leader.
The move marks another sharp split with former president Donald Trump who paralysed the organisation and opposed the candidacy of the former Nigerian finance minister who was backed by many other countries.
The US Trade Representative in a statement earlier on Friday cited Okonjo-Iweala “wealth of knowledge in economics and international diplomacy” and said she had “proven experience managing a large international organisation”.
USTR also noted that South Korea’s trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee – whom the Trump administration supported – had abandoned her bid to head the WTO earlier Friday.
The process to name a successor for Roberto Azevedo, who stepped down last August, has been deadlocked for months.
Key WTO ambassadors tapped Okonjo-Iweala back in October as the best pick to lead the organisation, but without US support the process was left at a standstill since the director-general is normally chosen by consensus among all 164 member states.
Nigeria’s first woman finance minister trained as a development economist – she has degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard.
66-year-old Iweala spent a quarter of a century at the World Bank, rising to be managing director and running for the top role in 2012, and is seen as a trailblazer in her home country.
A rare bronze coin, dating back some 1,850 years, was discovered in northern Israel, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) said on Tuesday.
The coin was found by an Israeli soldier during a training exercise in the Carmel coastal mountain range.
The coin was minted in the ancient city of Geva Philippi, also known as Geva Parashim, as in the Roman period, cities (poleis) were granted the right to mint their own coins.
On its obverse, the coin bears the head of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius, who ruled in years 138-161 CE.
The reverse shows the moon god Men with the phrase “legend of the people of Geva Phillipi.’’
The number marked on the coin indicates 217 years since the municipal council was evidently established, and its citizens were allowed self-government under the Roman Empire.

Singer OritseFemi, has reacted to speculations that he slept with a strange woman in his matrimonial home.
Recall his wife yesterday took to social media to send a message to the woman who came to her matrimonial home that she is lucky she didn't meet her in her house.
Nabila had written; “Whoever the imbecile is that came to my house while I was away at work to have s.ex, you need to identify yourself. It was shocking news when it was posted a few months back, but now I can confirm. On a Monday morning, when people are out to look for daily bread some people, it is sex that is their problem.”
But now, Oritsefemi has denied the allegations to The Punch saying his wife's post wasn't directed at him but to his friend who is staying with them at the moment.
He said: “I have seen all the news reports about me online and I do not understand what it is all about. My wife went online to write some things but they are not about me. I do not invite women into my matrimonial home. My wife’s post is not about me. It is about my friend, my very close friend that came in from London. He stayed with me and she was upset that I allowed my friend to bring women into our house.
“I have explained to her that he is my very good friend and he accommodated me anytime I travel out of the country. Because of this issue, I had to ask my friend to leave. In fact, I also had to chase all the boys living with me even though they know nothing about this incident. I do not cheat on my wife. My wife and I do not have an issue, everything is cool at home; in fact, she left for work not so long ago,” the singer said.
The singer also addressed a lengthy post by his former manager, Kara, who alleged that she spent her money to promote him but she was never compensated.
Responding to his former manager’s allegation, the Double Wahala singer said, “Just leave Kara, I don’t want to have anything to do with her, she is my ex-manager, so I don’t want to talk about her. There is no point addressing Kara because I saw all the things she wrote and I can’t find one good point in it. She said that I left her in Europe. Is she not a citizen? Till now she is still abroad and that is where she resides. So what is she talking about? I am a Nigerian citizen and when I was done in Europe I came back to Nigeria and she stayed back because that is where she is based. So what did I do wrong?”

Premier League referee Mike Dean will not officiate this weekend after he and his family received online death threats following two controversial incidents.
The 52-year-old referee sent off West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek for catching Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic with his elbow on Saturday, days after dismissing Southampton defender Jan Bednarek at Old Trafford.
Dean reviewed the incidents on the pitchside monitor after consulting VAR before making his decisions. Both have since been overturned on appeal.
The referee asked to be stood down from the next round of Premier League fixtures and was not included on the match officials list for the forthcoming weekend, though he will be in charge of Wednesday’s FA Cup tie between Leicester and Brighton.
Professional Game Match Officials Board managing director and former referee Mike Riley offered Dean the organisation’s full support.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said the threats to Dean and his family were “inexcusable” and called for more action from social media companies.
Soucek also spoke out against the abuse levelled at Dean, tweeting that decisions “made on the pitch should stay on the pitch”.
“There is no place for abuse of any kind,” he said. “It is in the past and I’m now focused on the rest of the season.”
