Search engine Bing mistakenly lists Prince Philip as dead

Microsoft’s search engine Bing has mistakenly claimed Prince Philip has died in hospital. A search for ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ or ‘Prince Philip’ brings up a fact box which says he was born on June 10, 1921 in Corfu and died in 2021 in King Edward VII Hospital.

The latest news of the Duke’s illness from Buckingham Palace came on Friday, when it was revealed he had left the NHS hospital where he had heart surgery and been moved back to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital for continuing treatment.

The Queen’s husband, 99, underwent a procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London on Wednesday – just three months before his 100th birthday.

The Palace said in a statement: ‘Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s successful procedure at St Bartholomew’s Hospital on Wednesday, His Royal Highness has been transferred to King Edward VII’s Hospital this morning. ‘The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for continuing treatment for a number of days.’

He was initially admitted to King Edward VII’s – the royal family’s favoured hospital – in central London on February 16 after feeling unwell at Windsor Castle, before being moved by ambulance to St Bartholomew’s on Monday. It comes amid the fall-out from a bombshell interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry overnight, which the Sussexes had faced calls to postpone out of respect for Prince Philip.

Queen and Prince Philip not behind Archie skin colour remarks, Oprah says

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were not behind comments about the colour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s child, according to Oprah Winfrey, who conducted the interview in which the startling revelation was made.

In the interview aired in the US on CBS on Sunday night, Meghan said that when she was pregnant with her son, Archie, there were “conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”. Prince Harry added that he was “a bit shocked” by the comments but said he wouldn’t identify who made them.

Winfrey said on Monday Harry would not share the identity of the person but had stressed “it was not his grandmother or grandfather who were part of those conversations”.

She added: “I tried to get that answer, on camera and off.”

The interview, in which Meghan also said she contemplated suicide while pregnant and Harry revealed Prince Charles stopped taking his calls once the couple decided to step away from royal duties and move to the US, has been widely regarded as a disaster for the royal family.

On Monday, CBS aired further clips from the interview, which Winfrey said spanned three hours and 20 minutes but had to be edited down to a much shorter length.

In the new clips, Harry said racism was “a large part” of why the couple decided to leave the UK, though he said he thought the British press are bigoted, rather than the broader population.

He added: “I’m very aware my brother can’t leave that system, but I have.”

Meghan said that she was subjected to a “wild, wild west” of criticism via social media and rejected the argument that other royals have also faced attacks.

“Rude and racist are not the same,” she said.

Ex-power minister, Wakil, sent to prison over alleged corruption

A former Minister of State for power in the country, Muhammad Wakil, is to remain in prison custody till March 31, 2021 on the order of a Federal Capital Territory High Court over his alleged involvement in the mismanagement of the N27 billion set aside for the payment of the retirement benefits to staff of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.

This action followed the two-count charge bordering on corruption and abuse of office slammed on Wakil on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before Justice S.B.Belgore of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja.

Wakil, a former lawmaker, was charged alongside two companies-Corozzeria Nigeria Limited and Pikat Properties Nigeria Limited, for allegedly receiving N148 million as gratification from Bestworth Insurance Brokers Limited out of the N27.1 billion approved outstanding insurance premiums and claims of deceased and incapacitated staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.

Count one of the charge reads: “That you Muhammed Wakil, while being Minister of Power and managing director of Corozzeria Nigeria Limited, and Corozzeria Nigeria Limited, on or about 22nd December, 2014, in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did corruptly receive the sum of N118 million through Corozzeria Nigeria Limited’s Polaris Bank Account No. 4010023658 from Bestworth Insurance Brokers Limited out of the sum of N27.1 billion being the sum approved for the payment of outstanding insurance premiums and claims of deceased and incapacitated staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria( PHCN), and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 8(1)(a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 8(1)(b)(ii)of the same Act.”

When the charges were read, the defendant pleaded “not guilty.”

Counsel for the prosecution, Benjamin Manji, asked the court to set a date for commencement of trial and for the remand the defendant at a Correctional Centre, pending trial.

However counsel for the defendants, B.C Igwilo SAN, prayed the court to grant bail to the 1st defendant. “My lord, our humble application is for the first defendant to be admitted to bail, “he said

But the prosecution counsel opposed the oral application, while urging the court to order the defendant to file the application formally.

Justice Belgore adjourned the matter till March 31, 2021 for determination of bail application and remanded the defendant in the custody of the EFCC.

Mum who says she got pregnant despite never having full s.e.x nicknamed 'Virgin Mary'

A mum who says she fell pregnant without ever having had full s.e.x has been nicknamed "Virgin Mary".

Nicole Moore couldn't believe it when she learned she was expecting a baby eight years ago as she says she was still a virgin at the time.

The supply teacher from Portsmouth, Hampshire, suffered from a condition called vaginismus which causes the vaginal walls to involuntary constrict. It's believed to affect roughly one in 500 women at some point in life.

This meant she was never able to insert a tampon, have a pap smear, or ever have full se,x.

When she got together with her partner, Nicola says they found other ways to be intimate with each other that didn't involve penetrative s.e.x, and against the odds she still managed to conceive.

So it came as the shock of her life when she took a pregnancy test one lunchtime at work and it came back positive.

"I’d spent all my teenage life not being able to insert a tampon, so I knew something was not quite right," Nicola, now 28, said.

“But doctors told me I was fine, so I just believed for a while that there was something wrong with me.

“When I was 18 I got into a relationship with my daughter’s dad. We began trying to have s.e.xual intercourse, he was a few years older and more experienced.

“We tried but it was impossible. I didn’t understand why it couldn’t happen.

“The only way I can describe it is like it felt like he was hitting a brick wall.

“I went back to the doctors who then gave me an examination but again told me everything was fine.”

When Nicola started suffering heartburn and other tell-tale signs, her colleague suggested she might be pregnant but she laughed it off, she says.

But when the test revealed she was expecting, she began panicking about how she would be able to give birth - and more puzzling still, how she had come to be pregnant in the first place.

“I couldn’t believe it, I was so shocked and confused," she said.

“All I kept thinking was how on earth am I going to deliver this baby if I couldn’t even have intercourse?

“I was worried my partner would think I’d cheated on him, as it seemed so impossible.

“But thankfully he knew me and my body, and he didn’t doubt me for a second.

“So many people still tell me I’m the Virgin Mary which really makes me laugh. It was crazy.”

Medical professionals who Nicola initially asked for help couldn't believe that she had never had full s.e.x, she says.

But after seeking a second opinion, it was confirmed that while rare, foreplay and other activity can introduce s.e.xual fluids to the vaginal area.

“I really struggled throughout my pregnancy with professionals believing my story," Nicola said.

“My boyfriend at the time often had to come with me to appointments to explain that we really hadn’t had s.e.x.

“I remember going for a check-up at the hospital and not being able to have an internal examination because the nurse couldn’t insert her finger.

“I tried explaining to her that I still hadn’t had s.e.x and she said to me ‘don’t be ridiculous of course you have.’

“I thought I was never going to get anyone to believe me or get answers.

“I had a routine check-up at the doctors for a pregnancy related illness and happened to be seen by a student doctor who had recently been studying vaginismus.

“I told him about my struggles, and he told me that I likely had this condition.

“I went home to google the symptoms and couldn’t believe what I was reading."

The unexpected pregnancy turned out to be a blessing, with Nicola finally able to get some of the answers she had been searching for her whole life.

She was diagnosed with vaginismus when she was four months along and began seeing a therapist who helped her talk through the issue.

At five months pregnant, Nicola was finally able to lose her virginity.

And despite her fears about labour, she gave birth to a healthy little girl Tilly, now 8, with no complications.

Nicole is now sharing her story to help raise awareness of vaginismus.

Aisha Buhari breaks her silence as she wishes Nigerians a Happy International Women's day

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, broke her long silence as she sent a goodwill message to Nigerian women on International Women’s Day.

Outspoken Mrs Buhari had gone off the radar around September 2020 shortly after the wedding of her daughter, Hanan.

It had been reported that she relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, citing security issues.

But shortly after, one of her aides, Kabiru Dodo, said Mrs Buhari was on a foreign medical trip.

No word was heard from her even when she turned 50 years old on February 18.

But on Monday, she posted a goodwill message on her Twitter handle, @Aishambuhari.

The message which she signed personally was titled “Message of the First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2021.”

The President’s wife lamented the continued abduction of women and girls in Nigeria by bandits and terrorists.

She called on all stakeholders to continue to exert their different levels of influence and bring the abductions to an end.

The message read, “Today marks the 2021 edition of International Women’s Day. The day offers yet another opportunity for humanity to review and reflect progress made on issues of women and girls.

“This year’s theme: Women In Leadership: Achieving on Equal Future in a COVID-19 World is a strong call to appreciate the efforts of women and girls in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 has had a huge impact on women; disrupted education and careers, lost jobs, descent into poverty, and proliferation of domestic violence. Many have also died or suffered due to lack of access to basic information on the pandemic, It is therefore important, not just to continue spreading the message of the COVID-19 protocol, but to remember and support those who have been affected negatively by the pandemic in one way or another.

“Away from COVID-19, women and girls in Nigeria have continued to suffer abductions both in the hands of insurgents and bandits.

“As a mother, I share the sorrow and agony of the victims and their families. I am also not unaware of the impact that these abductions could have in reverting many successes we have hitherto achieved, especially in terms of girl-child education and early marriages.

“I call on all stakeholders to continue to exert their different levels of influence and bring these abductions to an end and to assure us that girls are safe anywhere they may find themselves.

“My best wishes to women all over the world for their resilience, hard work, and commitment to the progress of humanity. Happy International Women’s Day. “

Man dies after suffering three-hour erection from blood clots due to COVID-19

A coronavirus patient in the US suffered a painful three-hour erection due to a rare complication of the disease.

The unidentified 69-year-old, from Ohio was diagnosed with the condition, known medically as priapism, while in hospital with a severe bout of Covid last autumn.

He was admitted to the Miami Valley Hospital in August with severe breathlessness and inflammation, which had caused fluid to build up inside his lungs.

The patient, who was obese, was sedated and put on a ventilator when his condition deteriorated and his lungs started to fail after 10 days of treatment.

Medics placed him face down in the prone position for 12 hours as an emergency technique to help get air around his body. When he was turned onto his back later in the afternoon, nurses noticed he had developed an erection.

Writing in The American Journal of American Medicine, medics who treated him said they believed Covid had caused blood clots in his penis.

An ice pack was applied to the patient’s penis to try to bring the swelling down but the stiffness persisted for three hours. Doctors then had to drain the blood from his penis using a needle. While the priapism did not return, the patient died in ICU when his lungs eventually failed.

They said the corpora cavernosa the chambers of tissue inside of his penis were rigid, yet the tip was flaccid.

The man was diagnosed with low-flow priapism when blood becomes trapped in the erection chambers, which is believed to have been caused by clots in his blood.

Because the patient was unconscious, he was unable to answer questions about how much pain he was suffering.

But the condition which can cause permanent damage unless treated quickly is known to become excruciating.

The swelling subsided 30 minutes after his penis had been drained and the patient was put on a drip which included medication to prevent blood clots.

Covid has been found in many patients to damage blood vessels, causing dangerous blood clots.

Woman doused in acid after rejecting proposal at 15 marries man she met in hospital [photos]

An acid attack survivor has tied the knot with the man she met in hospital while recovering.

Pramodini Roul, 28, married Saroj Sahoo, 29, on March 1 in her hometown of Jagatsinhpur, Odisha, after first meeting in 2018.

Saroj's friend was a nurse and would regularly visit the hospital that brave Pramodini was being treated and the pair quickly fell in love.

Pramodini had suffered horrific burns to her face and was left bald with just 20 per cent of her eyesight.

But that didn't stop her from enjoying the best day of her life this month with over 1000 guests, including other acid attack survivors.

Pramodini, who wore a wig on her wedding day, said: "I feel so blessed to be married to Saroj, it's an amazing feeling.

"We had so many guests at our wedding to celebrate our special day with us."

The couple were engaged in 2018 and had plans to marry in April 2020 but the pandemic outbreak last year delayed their plans.

Pramodini said: "After visiting the hospital on and off during my recovery in 2018 we fell in love and he gave up his job to help care for me.

"A lot of people were surprised that he would want to marry me but we fell in love and our families did come around to the idea."

Pramodini was just 15-years-old when she was doused in acid - something she claims happened due to a rejected marriage proposal.

The attack caused severe burns to her face and blinded her in both eyes.

But after suffering with pain for almost a decade and undergoing five reconstructive surgeries including one to correct vision in her left eye, she met the love of her life in hospital.

Pramodini added: "After meeting in hospital we lived together in New Delhi at first before contemplating on getting married in two years.

"The first time I'd seen Saroj was this September when I had undergone the first surgery in left eye but I had fallen for his charms.

"He loves me like the way I am. He always encourages me to live life happily."

The two now work for rehabilitation of acid attack survivors in Odisha through Chaanv Foundation, an NGO that works for acid attack survivors in the country.
