Piers Morgan storms off set after being called out for ‘diabolical’ behaviour towards Meghan Markle [video]

Beresford confronted Morgan the morning after Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired on ITV.

In the interview, Meghan revealed she had experienced suicidal thoughts due to the abuse she received after marrying Prince Harry, detailed how the palace failed to support her while she was experiencing racist abuse, and alleged that members of the Royal Family shared “concerns and conversations” about “how dark” her unborn child’s “skin might be when he’s born”.

Morgan declared on Monday (8 March) that he did not “believe a word” Meghan said during the interview. He added: “I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”

On Tuesday morning’s (9 March) GMB, Beresford addressed Morgan’s comments, saying: “This is absolutely diabolical behaviour.”

He said: “[Harry and Meghan] have had an overwhelming amount of negative press.

“I watched the programme yesterday, and yes, they had some great press around the wedding… but everything that has followed since has been incredibly damaging to Meghan’s mental health and to Harry.”

Beresford told Morgan he understands the he doesn’t “like Meghan Markle”, something he said he has made “clear a number of times on this programme”.

He added: “I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, and she cut you off.

“Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”

At this point, Morgan stood up and stormed off the set, saying: “OK, I’m done with this.”

Beresford continued as Morgan walked off, adding: “Do you know what? That’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour. I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis.

Cocaine, heroin recovered from monarch’s palace

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra State have recovered 58.5 grammes of cocaine and 13.9 grammes of heroin from the palace of a prominent traditional ruler in the state.

The agency did not disclose the identity of the monarch but said there were efforts to unravel how the illicit drugs were hidden in his palace.

Palace guards are helping to trace the drug dealer, Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Monday.

Babafemi also said a  suspected drug trafficker, Hassan Bishi Taiwo, was arrested at the weekend at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos with three parcels of cocaine concealed in a false bottom of his suitcase.

Taiwo, who was arrested upon arrival onboard Ethiopian airlines on Friday, has been trafficking drugs on Middle East routes for some time, Babafemi said.

Adultery scandal: Daddy Freeze’s partner breaks silence..

Daddy Freeze’s partner, Benedicta Elechi has shared a medical report to prove that her ex-husband Paul Odekina battered her during their marriage.

The medical report stated that Benedicta “presented to our center (Prime Medical Consultants) with complaints of neck pain, headache and voice hoarseness thought to have been due to a scuffle with her ex-husband.”

Benedicta shared the medical report a few days after Rivers State High Court ordered Daddy Freeze to pay the sum of N5 million for sleeping with her while she was still legally married.

Sharing the medical report while celebrating International Women’s Day, Benedicta also spoke about women’s rights and the fight for the “abolishment of archaic practices” that have “enslaved” women for ages.

Woman who r*ped 14 year-old boy is pregnant with his child

A woman who was spotted raping a 14 year-old boy by a shocked eyewitness is now pregnant with her victim’s child, a court heard.

 Brittni Gray, 23, was charged with s.e.xual assault on Monday after she was allegedly spotted having abusive s.e.xual intercourse with the youngster in Paragould, Arkansas, in September 2020.

 That witness told police that Gray was pregnant with the child’s child – and even took him to the hospital where her pregnancy was confirmed. 

Court documents seen by KAIT said: ‘ Video footage was obtained showing the alleged victim and the alleged offender entering the hospital together during a recent visit to the emergency room.’

Gray was also reported to police last February by a second tipster who informed police that she was s.e.xually abusing the underage boy.

 Further details on how Gray knew her alleged victim have not been shared, or how long she had allegedly been s.e.xually abusing him for. 

She has been charged with a single count of first-degree s.e.xual assault. Gray is being held in Greene County Detention center without bond ahead of her next court appearance.’

Lagos mount surveillance on public schools amidst rampant abductions of schoolchildren in the North

Amidst rampant abductions of schoolchildren in northern Nigeria by bandits, the Lagos government has mounted “constant surveillance” on public schools, Peoples Gazette reports.

While most recent mass abductions of schoolchildren for ransom took place in the North, there is a likelihood of copycat attacks in a city like Lagos, which had experienced.

But the Lagos Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo, told Peoples Gazette that the government was not under any illusions that its public schools were impenetrable.

In a terse message, Ms. Adefisayo told the Gazette that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration was working with the police command in Lagos to provide “constant” security cover for schoolchildren, particularly those in public boarding schools.

“We are working with the Police Command in the State, and the schools are under constant surveillance,” she disclosed to the Gazette.

Between December 2020 and March 2021, bandits abducted hundreds of schoolboys and schoolgirls across Katsina, Niger, and Zamfara. The bandits freed the students after they received ransoms, though the governments denied any payment.

In the past, Lagos has had its fair share of schoolchildren abductions as militants besieged the state, wreaking havoc on its outskirts.

Gunmen, on February 29, 2016, abducted pupils of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary in Ikorodu.

Later that year, on October 6, assailants described as militants attacked Igbonla Model College in Epe, abducting the school’s vice principal, teacher, and pupils.

Again, in May 2017, the Epe school was attacked by gunmen, abducting pupils and staff.

Nigeria threatens to ban flights from UAE, Netherlands over Covid testing row

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 has threatened to ban flights from the UAE and The Netherlands as a reciprocal action.

The taskforce said the Ministry of Aviation and its relevant agencies have been mandated to take the necessary reciprocal measures as may be permissible under the laws and other international obligations expected to be discharged against Emirates airlines operating from the UAE and other airlines from The Netherlands.

Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, disclosed this at the routine briefing of the committee in Abuja on Monday.

Mr. Mustapha said: “For over a month, Nigeria has been engaged with the authorities of the UAE and The Netherlands over pre-departure testing requirements passengers should meet before travelling from Nigeria.

According to him, the PTF has mandated the Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to take necessary reciprocal measures as may be permissible under the laws and other international obligations which we are expected to discharge.

In February 2021, the Nigeria government did ban Emirates temporarily because the airline violated guidelines issued by the Covid-19 PTF.

Vicar at Church of England replies Meghan and Harry... ''you didn't marry twice''

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry apparently didn’t officially marry in secret days before their lavish public exchange of vows -- as she romantically cooed in the couple’s explosive TV tell-all.

The Church of England requires two witnesses to any nuptials for them to be valid.

But Markle told interviewer Oprah Winfrey during a sit-down that aired Sunday, “Three days before our wedding, we got married.

“No one knows that. But we called the archbishop [of Canterbury], and we just said, ‘Look, this thing, this spectacle, is for the world, but we want our union between us,’” said Markle, who wed the prince in May 2018.

“So, like, the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the archbishop of Canterbury,” she said.

Church rules also stipulate that a couple must exchange their vows somewhere public — to allow for any objections to be made — so a private backyard doesn’t cut it.

A vicar for the Church of England, referring to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, tweeted after the interview, “I’ve no idea what they mean.

“You can’t get married twice. So what was the thing three days before [their public ceremony]? And if it was a marriage, what on earth are we doing ‘playing’ at prayer/holy matrimony for cameras,” the Rev. David Green wrote, according to Fox News, in a tweet that appeared to have been taken down.

Meghan Markle’s half-sister slams duchess, says she has ‘narcissistic personality disorder’

Meghan Markle’s half-sister has said her estranged sibling suffers from “narcissistic personality disorder” -- while Markle’s hubby Prince Harry is the victim of Stockholm syndrome.

“I definitely see a narcissistic personality disorder. I’m not diagnosing her. She needs to see a counselor,’’ Samantha Markle told the Australian radio show “Fifi, Fev and Nick’’ the day after Meghan and Harry’s bombshell TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“I feel sorry for Harry,’’ Samantha said. “She pulled him away from his family, all of his friends, the life that he knew.

“He reminds me of one of those kidnap victims who eventually starts to believe that their life was so horrible and they’re in love with their captor.”

In addition to taking on the royal family during the sit-down with Winfrey, Meghan ripped into Samantha, dousing shade on the half-sister’s new “tell-all’’ memoir, “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1.’’

“I think it would be very hard to tell all when you don’t know me,” Markle said.

Meghan claimed that the last time she saw Samantha “must have been at least 18, 19 years ago’’ and referred to herself as “an only child.”

“She had said, ‘I haven’t hadn’t seen Samantha for 19 years.’ Well, she was at my graduation from my bachelor degree — there was so many photos in the media that are … about that, and that was 2008, so don’t know about you, but if you do the math, 2008 to now is not 19 years!” Samantha said.

Samantha also challenged Markle over presenting herself as absolutely clueless about the royals before she met Harry.

Meghan claimed Samantha only changed her married name back to Markle after the now-royal began dating Harry — but Samantha said, “First of all, I did an interview, and I held up my college degree — my name’s been Markle since 1964 – it’s on my college degree!”

Meghan also publicly accused her dad of “betrayal’’ by selling her out to the tabloids and lamented to Winfrey, “I’ve lost my father.”

Samantha, who has the same father, Thomas Markle, said their dad watched the interview and, “He’s very hurt.

Covid-19: Five dead, 29 infected in 72 hours in Edo state

Casualty from Covid-19, has continued unabated in Edo State, as the dreaded disease has again killed persons in the last 72 hours.

A total of 29 new cases were also recorded within the same time frame.

The latest casualties bring the total number of deaths recorded in the second wave of the pandemic in the state to 68.

Edo Covid-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this during the daily virtual meeting of the State Covid-19 Taskforce, chaired by the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

He noted that the state collected a total of 950 samples within the 72-hour time frame.

He, however, disclosed that the state also recorded 123 new recoveries, with 216 active cases that are being managed at various treatment and isolation centres in the state.

According to him, “Edo State, in the last 72 hours, recorded 29 new cases, five deaths and 123 recoveries from Covid-19.”

Nigeria records 371 new Covid-19 cases, total now 158,906

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 371 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 158,906.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Monday.

“On the 8th of March 2021, 371 new confirmed cases and 13 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 158906 cases have been confirmed, 138502 cases have been discharged and 1982 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 371 new cases are reported from 17 states- Lagos (102), Enugu (65), Edo (56), FCT (23), Ogun (20), Osun (18), Bayelsa (18), Rivers (15), Kaduna (14), Plateau (10), Oyo (8), Bauchi (7), Kano (5), Delta (4), Nasarawa (3), Niger(2) and Ekiti (1),” the NCDC said.

Search engine Bing mistakenly lists Prince Philip as dead

Microsoft’s search engine Bing has mistakenly claimed Prince Philip has died in hospital. A search for ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ or ‘Prince Philip’ brings up a fact box which says he was born on June 10, 1921 in Corfu and died in 2021 in King Edward VII Hospital. 

The latest news of the Duke’s illness from Buckingham Palace came on Friday, when it was revealed he had left the NHS hospital where he had heart surgery and been moved back to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital for continuing treatment. 

The Queen’s husband, 99, underwent a procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London on Wednesday – just three months before his 100th birthday.

The Palace said in a statement: ‘Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s successful procedure at St Bartholomew’s Hospital on Wednesday, His Royal Highness has been transferred to King Edward VII’s Hospital this morning. ‘The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for continuing treatment for a number of days.’

He was initially admitted to King Edward VII’s – the royal family’s favoured hospital – in central London on February 16 after feeling unwell at Windsor Castle, before being moved by ambulance to St Bartholomew’s on Monday. It comes amid the fall-out from a bombshell interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry overnight, which the Sussexes had faced calls to postpone out of respect for Prince Philip.
