Aisha Buhari returns to Nigeria after six months in Dubai

First Lady Aisha Buhari is back in the country after spending six months in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Nation learnt that the first lady, who quietly relocated abroad after Hanan, one of her daughters, got married in September 2021, is currently at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

She was said to have returned to the country on Wednesday night.

There were concerns over her whereabouts during the long absence but the presidency avoided making comments on the issue.

But one of Hajiya Aisha’s aides, Kabiru Dodo, finally opened up on the current absence in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, in December 2020.

Dodo, who spoke on the development while presenting some items to widows on behalf of the president’s wife, faulted the report that the first lady left the country because of rising insecurity.

Covenant University on Thursday expressed readiness to prosecute its erstwhile lecturer, Dr Stephen Ukenna, for allegedly defiling a 17- year- old student of the institution.

The institution’s Registrar, Dr Segun Omidiora, said the school has taken further measures to prevent recurrence of such incident.

He said a meeting was held with students directing them on what to do to prevent such act.

“It is the truth. We had meetings with all the students yesterday on how to prevent a recurrence of such dastardly act.

“We are willing to prosecute him by ourselves,” he said.

The university set up a panel to look into the matter, which recommended sack of the lecturer.

Ukenna, who was a lecturer in the Department of Business Management, had admitted having carnal knowledge of the victim but didn’t give any reason for his action.

Mother 'kills eight-year-old son by pouring gasoline into his mouth then setting him on fire

A Russian mother has been detained by police for allegedly pouring gasoline into the mouth of her eight-year-old son then setting him on fire.

The boy died in hospital in Kursk, Russia after suffering horrific 45 per cent burns.

Anastasia Baulina, 31, a cashier, was furious that her son Andrey 'betrayed' her by telling his stepfather that she had been visited by her alleged lover, say reports.

She had a 'quarrel' with her son and took him into the courtyard, dousing him in fuel from a canister, then set the boy on fire, it is alleged.

One report said she poured the fuel into the terrified boy's mouth before using a lighter and telling him: 'Let's see how it will burn.'

His sister Natasha, 12, said: '(The fuel) was pouring into his mouth, as he was crying.'

As the girl fled in terror, the mother and stepfather Pavel Baulin, 35, a farmworker, put out the flames and called an ambulance.

But the boy was critically injured, and he died two days later from the severe burns.

A murder investigation was opened and the woman - from Zheleznogorsk district - was detained.

Neighbour Nina Chetverikova told Life: 'I saw her at the bus stop. She had a quarrel with her husband. It seems she took it out on her children.'

Baulina faces up to 20 years in jail if convicted.

A criminal investigation was also opened into why the boy was allowed back into his mother's care after he was earlier removed from her to an orphanage.

Eight-month pregnant mother, 21, killed after baby is cut out of her womb in horrific attack

An eight-month pregnant mother has been killed after her baby was cut of her womb in an horrific attack at her home in Brazil.

Pamella Ferreira Andrade Martins, 21, was found dead in the coastal town of Macae, Rio de Janeiro state, on Wednesday afternoon.

A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, told local media that the victim was found inside a locked bathroom and the door had to be broken down.

Ms Martins was discovered butchered, with her belly hacked open and her unborn child missing.

A 22-year-old woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested when she was admitted to hospital after checking into a nearby A&E carrying the dead baby.

According to reports, the woman had told the health professionals at the unit that she had given birth to the baby boy herself and had fallen down the stairs with him.

However, she was submitted to tests that proved she had not been pregnant. Local media also report that a knife and penknife were found in her handbag.

According to the police, the suspect had been pretending to be pregnant and was seen in the victim's company the day before the crime.

Ms Martins' relatives told police that the suspect said she 'would get herself a child whatever it takes'.

However, they did not believe she was capable of committing such a crime.

Ms Martins leaves behind a husband and a two-year-old son.

The police are investigating the case and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death of the baby.

The suspect was questioned at the police station last night, it is not clear if she remains in custody.

Video: Moment Sunday Igboho declared ''Yoruba Nation'' as he says all borders will be opened

Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho has declared the ‘Yoruba Nation’, claiming that South-Western states are no longer a part of Nigeria.

He made the declaration on Wednesday evening during a conference in Ibadan, Oyo state.

According to him, it was high time for Yoruba to declare the race a sovereign nation.

Igboho urged all Yoruba indigenes who are resident in Hausa/Fulani or Igbo states, to return home before war breaks out.

He added that any Yoruba king that denied backing the movement to liberate the South-west will not ‘see the light of the next day.’

Although he spoke in Yoruba, the translation of his words goes thus:

“Why are we being slaves in our fatherland?

“Why are we being enslaved in our own land?

“The people that call themselves Senators& leaders will be going in traffic & see 4 & 5-year-olds selling popcorn & puff-puff & they will buy & eat, have you seen that they are not worthy to be called leaders, therefore we reject them as leaders,”.

“The Yorubas that are everywhere are larger than most countries, therefore we call on the global community and United Nations to come & separate us, we are no longer interested in being part of Nigeria before this becomes war, they need to intervene because we want to go.

“As it stands now, we are no longer under Nigeria. If they don’t intervene, it will go beyond control. We have gone beyond the point where we keep quiet, we are no longer scared to voice out.

“We are not safe anywhere, we can’t sleep in peace, we can’t travel in peace, what have we done? Are we slaves? We don’t do wrong by existing, we only chose the wrong leaders and we are saying enough is enough!

“Tincan in Lagos, Apapa, the directors are Fulani men. The two ports we have, the controllers are Fulanis. We don’t want them anymore!

“ Seme border, we don’t want Fulani there anymore! When Baba finish talking now, we the Yorubas here will have a crucial meeting, we are going to open the borders, let’s start allowing goods to enter!

“The borders that NIGERIAN Government closed, we are opening it all, we are no longer interested in being part of Nigeria! Whatever you want to do to us, we are ready! I’m talking to Yoruba indigenes! you can stand aside & say there is no unity among us, but touch a single Yoruba man, you will see that we are united.

“All our Kings are solidly behind us, any of them that want to deny it should make a press conference, let’s see. He won’t see the light of the next day! My advice to the Yorubas in the North is to find your way back home.

“Start coming home, it is time! We have suffered enough, let’s not fight among each other, let’s unite for a common cause, it is time to come home. That’s all I have to say”

UCH doctors begin warning strike over salaries

The Association of Resident Doctors, University College Hospital chapter, Ibadan, has begun a five-day warning strike over unpaid two months’ salary of its 370 members.

A representative of the association, Temitope Hussein, said on Wednesday in Ibadan that the strike would end on Saturday.

He added that 233 of the association’s members were not enrolled in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System. This has prevented them from receiving their emoluments.

Mr Hussein noted that the hospital’s management was not responsive to the dialogue initiated by the association.

He, however, expressed hope that at the expiration of the warning strike, an agreement would be reached.

Reacting, the spokesperson for the hospital, Akintoye Akinrinlola, described as unfortunate the association’s decision to embark on a warning strike.

Mr. Akinrinlola noted that the issues raised “are national issues rather than issues peculiar to the hospital.”

NDLEA boss, Marwa asks Sanwo-Olu, other Nigerian politicians to undergo drugs test

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), has recommended drugs test for politicians in Nigeria.

“Running for public offices is a big responsibility. You shouldn’t be in this important assignment for the public, and your head is filled up because of drugs,” he told Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos during a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Marina, People Gazette reports.

He encouraged Mr. Sanwo-Olu that Lagos should take the lead in demonstrating to the country the importance of taking “integrity” drug tests.

Explaining the dire situation of substance abuse further, the NDLEA boss noted, “The drug scourge is now an epidemic in Nigeria. The prevalence is 15 percent, three times the global average. One in seven Nigerians takes drugs. We have found out that there is a nexus between drug use and crime.

“We felt that Lagos can show the way first with integrity drug test for students because it is our youths that are affected mostly; students, especially those in tertiary institutions, should do drug tests.”

However, he commended the governor for providing effective leadership in Lagos and managing COVID-19 in the state.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu said his government was building a “full-fledged” mental health rehabilitation hospital at Ketu-Ejinrin, Lagos East Senatorial District, to tackle drug abuse effects.

He added that the state would continue to collaborate with NDLEA to address the drug crisis. According to him, the state has put in place measures to tackle the drug crisis.

Many Nigerian women are OKAY with cheating men –9ice ex, Toni Payne says

Singer 9ice's ex-wife, Toni Payne has said many Nigerian women are OKAY with a cheating partner.

She said, most know their partners cheat but still stay just because of what the society will say.

She says she has a person can't because she cares so much about her health. She says she has lived all her life without an STD and not ready to take one in now from a partner that cheats.

She concluded saying the Nigerian society is anti-women and well... f3cked up too.

What she wrote on her Instagram page;

“I know a lot of Naija women are ‘ok’ with men that cheat and our backwards ass Naija society tags you as ”not strong” if you chose not to put up with it.. plus the tag ‘Mrs’ is so important to some, that they would risk their lives for it.

That whole society in my opinion is anti-woman and very f3cked up but that’s a topic for another day. As for men, I would never stay with a serial cheat because besides the emotional and mental trauma it brings, the fear of catching an std won’t let me. Yeah, some lie and hide it. That risk is surely there.

Knowingly putting my health at risk is what I cant do. I’ve gone all my life without STD and I’d like to pretty much keep it that way. Also. I put ok in quotes for a reason.. cos is anyone truly ok with it. Or they just pretend to keep up appearances.”

I wept the day I knew my son, Bolu is Gay - Doyin Okupe

Former Presidential aide, Doyin Okupe has revealed during an interview with VanguardLiveTv that he wept the day he knew his son Bolu is gay.

Okupe admits regretting letting Bolu move abroad at a young age, he lived part of his life in France a olace he described as giving a chance to what his son has become.

Recall when Bolu came out months ago as gay, his dad had said he was against it and says they will be helping him with prayers.

His words to Vanguard: “We’ve always known that Bolu was like that. He’s even much more than that. He’s incredible with what he does and capable of doing. All his other siblings are one but Bolu had designed his mind to never live in Nigeria.

Unfortunately for me, his mother took him abroad very early. He did major parts of his secondary school in the United Kingdom.

So, Bolu thinks he lives European (he’s my son) but his mind is European. I also know that he’s easily influenced by his environment. I know that for a fact because he came home one time for holiday, and this is the person that’s been questioning the Bible but all of a sudden, he’s on fire in terms of scripture having spent some months in Nigeria. His elder brother who is a pastor now helped him spiritually during that time.

I made the greatest mistake to send him to France because that’s an extremely liberal society. So, the family had known that Bolu had that tendency. The day I knew, I wept. (I) have gone past that. We’re just praying for him but I also know that, God’s ways are not our ways, and He knows the beginning from the end. Mark my words, he (Bolu) is on sojourn to the gay community in order to be an instrument of God to that community eventually. That’s what is going to happen by the grace of God.”he said

My wife still denies me sex, 80 year-old ex-lecturer laments

An 80-year-old retired lecturer, Prof. Muritala Haroon, on Thursday told a Customary Court sitting in Mapo, that his wife, Afsat, still denies him s3x.

At the resumed hearing in the suit, Haroon said: “my wife did not abide by the advice given to her by this court to allow peace to reign by agreeing to perform her wifely duties”.

However, Afsat was conspicuously absent when she was called and nobody represented her in court.

The President of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade, cautioned Haroon to exercise more patience.

“The court will work with the extended members of the family to resolve the matter amicably,” he said.

Odunade adjourned the case until May 17 for further hearing.

Haroon in February filed for dissolution of his 52-ear-old marriage on grounds of s3xual starvation and threat to life.

In the petition, he alleged that Afsat was fond of locking him out of the bedroom.

“I can no longer cope with the attitude again. Worst still, she and her relatives want me dead.

“Afsat attempted to stab me. She is misleading our six children. She has turned them against me,” he said.

Afsat had in her reply, rejected the prayer for separation.

“Prof is promiscuous. I can not have anything to do with because he slept with his close friend’s three wives.

“My lord, Haroon slept with the three wives of the man who acted as an intermediary whenever we had problems,” she said.
