4 year-old girl tragically dies after being mauled by pack of five stray dogs in Saudi Arabia

A four-year-old girl has been mauled to death by a pack of five stray dogs in Saudi Arabia.

It's understood the girl, identified only by her first name Shahd, was away on holiday at the time of the attack.

Witnesses described hearing her screams as the animals savaged her in the suburb of Al Washaila, some 25 kilometres (16 mi) south-west of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on the evening of March 12.

Passers-by managed to chase away the dogs, and the girl was rushed to hospital. Due to coronavirus restrictions, her family was forced to wait outside while doctors attempted to safe her life.

Her uncle, Abdullah Hazzam Al Abd Al Salam, told local media that medics reassured him that his niece's condition was stable.

But hours later they were told the devastating news that she had died.

He said: "We rushed my niece to the nearest hospital, and we reached the hospital at around 5.30pm.

"The medical staff confirmed her condition was stable. We kept waiting outside the hospital due to Covid-19 precautionary measures, but at 7.50pm, we were informed that the girl had passed away. It was a shock to everyone."

Al Salam complained to local media that the suburb had long had a problem with stray animals and the local authorities had not done anything to address it.

He urged the authorities to cull stray dogs in the area, which is frequented by families with children on weekends.

Shahd was buried at the Al Mansouriya Cemetery on March 14.

Lagos carpenter flees after allegedly defiling customer’s daughter

A carpenter on Shittu Bashiru Street, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos is on the run after he was accused of defiling an 11-year-old girl.

The suspect, simply named as Wasiu, reportedly molested the girl on Thursday, February 25, while he was fixing a kitchen cabinet at the minor parents’ house in the community.

Punch correspondent learnt that the girl was preparing to have lunch after returning from school that day when Wasiu allegedly went to her room and forcefully had s.e.x with her.

Her father, Anayo Chijioke, said his wife contracted Wasiu to fit the cabinet, adding that they were not at home when the incident happened.

He said, “My wife asked him to put up a cabinet in our kitchen but he did not complete the work on time. That Thursday evening when my wife returned from work, my daughter told her how Wasiu molested her when she came back from school around 3pm that day. She said he had done the same thing to her on Monday. The man is married with children.

“When I returned from work that day, I went to the Isheri-Osun Police Station to report the case but police asked me to come the following morning. When we got to Wasiu’s house, he had run away.”

Chijioke said his daughter was taken to Mirabel Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, for tests and was given some drugs.

“They told us the result of the test will be sent to the police,” he added.

The girl told Sunday Punch that Wasiu came into her room under false pretences that he was looking for a plank he wanted to use to make the cabinet.

She stated, “I wanted to eat when I came back from the school that day. He came to my room and said he was looking for plywood which he couldn’t find. He also checked the visitor’s room. He came back to my room and started touching my b.r.e.a.s.t.s. He quickly removed his trousers and pushed me to the bed.

“I asked him to stop but he did not listen. he ‘slept with’ me and warned me not to tell anyone. He did the same thing to me on Monday and asked me not to tell my parents.”

The police spokesperson in the state, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command had launched a manhunt for the suspect.

He stated, “We got a report like that but the suspect is at large. He fled before the police got there (to his home). The victim has been taken for treatment and assessment. We still await the report of the examination. The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the fleeing suspect must be apprehended for proper investigation.”

Kylie Jenner branded 'cheap' for asking fans to help fund make-up artist pal's surgery

Billionaire Kylie Jenner has been criticised for asking fans to chip in for her friend's life saving brain surgery - after donating just $5,000 of the $120,000 target.

The make-up mogul mum-of-one, 23, was slammed for making a public plea for donations to ailing Samuel Rauda, 26.

Rauda is a make-up artist who has previously worked with Kylie, her half-sister Khloe Kardashian and family friend Chrissy Teigen.

But after a reported car accident last week, his family had no choice but to make a public plea to help pay for his treatment and for future expenses during his long recovery.

Clearly wanting to help, Kylie posted a photo of Samuel along with a link to the Rauda family's Go Fund Me page, writing: "May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his families go fund me."

But the post was later deleted as fans called out the 'billionaire' for asking her much less affluent fans to help when she could just pay the whole bill in the blink of an eye.

One commented: "Hey @KylieJenner! Why don’t you “go fund” your friends financial needs rather than asking your fans to do it."

Another similarly outraged fan tweeted: "wait so kylie jenner’s make up artist got into a car accident and needed $60k for emergency brain surgery and she asked her fans to donate???? and then only donated $5,000 when she’s a literal billionaire? the wrong people have money."

Another echoed: "kylie jenner promoting her friend’s gfm and only donating $5k when shes a whole billionaire and can easily help her friend reach the goal instantly... whats wrong with rich people and hoarding their money????"

President Buhari orders ‘transparent ‘ probe of Ortom attack

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered ”an open and transparent probe” of the assassination attempt on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue.

Buhari made the call Sunday night in his reaction to the attack that has shocked Nigerians.

Ortom said he was attacked by about 15 gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, in the outskirts of Makurdi, the Benue capital on Saturday.

Buhari strongly condemned the attack, said Garba Shehu, the SSA to the president on media.

Buhari said the string of brutal attacks on individuals and communities in the state, with the latest one targeting the governor, was unacceptable.

“The President welcomes the dispatch of a high level team of crack investigators to the state from the Police headquarters in Abuja”, Shehu said.

Buhari, he said, urged the officers to uncover who, or whatsoever, was behind the attacks and bring them to justice.

In expressing his sympathies, and that of the government of the federation to Governor Ortom and all Benue indigenes, President Buhari said the unfortunate incident must not be politicized.

He reiterated that an attack on one Nigerian is an attack on all Nigerians.

The President directed the Police to undertake a thorough investigation into the incident involving the governor and into all such incidents affecting individuals and communities in the state.

“Let there be open and transparent investigation and whoever is linked to it should be caught and be made to face the law,” the President directed.

God gave me two SUVs after investing in church project – Actor William Uchemba [photo]

Nollywood actor, Williams Uchemba has narrated how God blessed him with two Sport Utility Vehicles, SUVs, after investing huge money in a project in the Church.

Though he did not mention the name of the church, Uchemba said in February, he wanted to buy an SUV because he needed one in Lagos, especially as for going to site.

He said that same period, a church building project came up, so, he was left with the choice of either buying his SUV or giving the money for the church of God to be completed (where people’s life will be changed for good and souls saved).

He wrote on his Instagram: “So I was led in my spirit to give it for the church project and used the rest to buy a car for someone who didn’t have one. A month later God blessed me with Two SUVs at once.

“In as much as I am writing this with a heart of gratitude to God I am also not surprised because this is not the first time God has done something like this. The problem is we (especially this generation) have allowed distractions to blind us from what the word of God is saying about our lives and the promises that come with it.

“We have been chasing shadows, seeking wealth in the wrong places and neglecting the purpose for which God has created us, we have completely forgotten Matthew 6:33. We have allowed people that claim to know God but contradict His words lead a lot of people far away from the kingdom of God discouraging them from giving to God and honouring his prophets.

“Some even call Christianity a “white man’s religion” and try to deceive people to go back to idol worship. Listen to me ladies and gentlemen I am a product of Grace, His words, and the blessings he has given me through the prophets He has placed in my life.”

According to Uchemba, the word of God still works tremendously as it has been from the beginning for those who believe and have chosen to walk with him.

“Stop playing religion and find God in spirit and truth, stop listening to people that only talk but don’t even have their lives together.

“There is a lot God wants to do with you and for you but you need to have a relationship with him and know his words for yourself. Jesus Still saves, all you have to do is accept him as your lord and saviour,” he said.

We’ll invade your palace – Sunday Igboho’s spokesman tells Alake, Yoruba Obas

The spokesman of Sunday Adeyemo (Aka Sunday Igboho), Olayomi Koiki, has threatened that angry youths would invade the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and other Yoruba Obas who are against the secession of Yorubas from the Nigerian nation.

Oba Gbadebo, on Friday admonished that Nigeria’s failure could spell doom for the black race.

The monarch, who said a war should not be allowed to break out in Nigeria, appealed to secessionists to have a rethink, saying “If Nigeria failed as a country, the entire black race had failed.’’

This Paramount Ruler of Egba’s comment came a few days after Sunday Igboho declared that Yoruba land is no more in Nigeria, giving many the impression that the monarch was sending a message to the activist.

Reacting in a viral video, Koiki said: “Let’s send a message back to the Alake of Egbaland. My name is Olayomi Koiki. We starting with you, we will break the coconut on your head. I said. If you think what we have in our hand is a child’splay, we are almost done to send out people; just a little more time.

You will know that ‘water pass garri’. By the time we invade your palace, you will know. You think we are joking. We have blown it to a level, just a little more time to release the hair. You will hear ‘gbos’.

“Thinking that this issue will not turn into trouble is a lie. The trouble is coming; we are just postponing it. Whoever has the might can wait; who doesn’t have the power will hear it when did noise get to its stage.

“Some of the Obas, aside those who have spoken out well, those who have not spoken out, we will pursue them and they will run. Look at me very well.

I am Olayomi Koiki. If you think you have something (spiritual power), you’d better start using it because what we are dragging with you is not a joke. It is you that will go into exile because most of you sent us into slavery, now you are saying that we should not start a war in Nigeria.

Don’t you know there is war already since the creation of Nigeria? You will hear madness by the time we send out ‘boys’. We will use your head to break coconut, except the good ones among you, who have spoken up.

“Tell all Obas and politicians that this is not a joke. I am a confirmed Ijebu-Ode indigene. Let’s continue with the awareness, but at a stage you will know it.

“The South-west governments have been given 30 days. Before 30 days and after 30 days, it will be very hot. We are not going any where, we are here; unless God does not know about this.

“How can somebody be telling us from his palace that we should not start a war. There’s war in Nigeria. You think there is no war in Nigeria and the governor of Benue state was almost killed? You didn’t talk when Yoruba indigenes became refugees in Benin Republic.

“Whatever you have, bring it out and let’s drag it on. Yoruba nation, there’s no going back!” Koiki submitted.

We won’t allow hijab in our schools – Kwara Baptists insists

Members of the Kwara Baptist Conference on Sunday staged a peaceful protest in Ilorin, the state capital against hijab-wearing in grant-aided mission schools.

The protest took place in the premises of First Baptist Church Ilorin in Surulere, Ilorin with members wielding placards.

Some of the placards read: ‘no hijab in Baptist schools and other mission schools,’ ‘give us back our schools,’ ‘let peace reign in the state of harmony’ and ‘no religious violence in Kwara.’

Addressing reporters President, Kwara Baptist Conference Rev (Dr) Victor Dada said: “We want to reiterate that under no circumstances will we allow the wearing of hijab in our schools. The schools are our heritage and legacy bequeathed to us by our forefathers.

“We are requesting that the state government should immediately reopen our schools without wearing of hijab.

“What we are saying is ‘give us back our schools.’ But if the state government is bent on running the schools, we want to say we will henceforth not allow hijab or Muslims in our schools.

“If peradventure, the government’s posture does not allow our children to do their WAEC this year, posterity will judge those who are at the helm of affairs accordingly.”

We killed mother, son for money ritual – Herbalist confesses in Ogun

A 29-year-old herbalist, Baoku Gbuyi, has confessed to the police that he, on behalf of a 27-year-old bricklayer, Olamide Odulaja, killed a woman, Modupeola Folorunsho, and her 4-year-old son, Peter Folorunsho, for money ritual.

Police said the herbalist revealed that he had burnt the woman’s head with some other herbal materials, saying he gave it to the bricklayer, who contacted him for the ritual.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, informed Daily Post that the two were arrested by detectives following a report received at Ijebu Igbo division, from the victim’s husband.

Oyeyemi said the husband reported on February 14 that his wife and son went out the day before, but did not return; adding that efforts to locate them proved abortive.

This, it was gathered, caused the DPO, Kazeem Solotan, to incident a case of missing persons, as he detailed his crack detectives to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the missing persons.

The technical and intelligence based investigation of the detectives, Oyeyemi said, led them to the arrest of the bricklayer, Olamide Odulaja, at Ibadan.

“On interrogation, Olamide confessed that he and one herbalist abducted the victim and her son on the 13th of February 2021, and that the victim and her son were killed for money ritual at the house of the said herbalist. He stated further that it was the herbalist who burnt the woman’s head which he used for him,” the PPRO said.

The bricklayer’s confession led detectives to the herbalist’s house at Araromi Street, Japara in Ijebu Igbo. But, he had fled.

However, he was eventually trailed to Kajola village, where he was apprehended by the DPO of Awa Ijebu with the aid of hunters and local vigilantes.

“On interrogation, the herbalist confessed that it was Olamide Odulaja, who approached him for money making ritual; following which he asked him to bring a head of human being as one of the materials to be used.

“He stated further that they both conspired to abduct the woman and her son and slaughter them for that purpose.

“He confessed further that he burnt the woman’s head with some other herb materials which he gave to Olamide to use.

“When asked about the little boy, he said that his head and remains were dumped inside a pit latrine,” Oyeyemi explained.

While commending his men for their display of investigative intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, ordered the immediate transfer of the matter to the State CIID for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

Veterinary council cautions against consuming meat roasted with tyre

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) has warned against the consumption of meat roasted with tyres, saying that tyres contain cancer-causing substances.

Deputy Registrar of the Council, Dr Fadipe Oladotun, gave the warning in Abuja on Sunday when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Oladotun, who decried the continued use of tyres to roast meat in abattoirs, said that the warning became imperative in view of its growing health and environmental hazards.

He said that the trend was growing because a lot of people were ignorant about the health consequences.

“The more we eat those meats roasted with tyres, the more we are prone to health risks.

“There are alternative and healthy ways of de-skinning meat rather than using tyres. Burning tyres contaminate the meat, degrade the environment and pollutes the atmosphere,’’ Oladotun said.

He said that the council would intensify efforts to sensitise people to understand the dangers inherent in consuming meats roasted with tyres.

“When you burn tyres, they release bad fume that pollutes the air. And when you use tyres to roast meat, they deposit substances on the meat that cause cancer when consumed. It is a slow killer.

“Slow killer in the sense that it is when you take it in small quantities and it accumulates and then it becomes an issue,’’ he said.

Oladotun expressed the Council’s determination to prosecute those who engage in the practice.

“The regulation of practices at abattoirs is what the Council will engage in soon.

“We all need to join hands to stop this menace. I am giving a very strong warning to all the offenders that they should watch out because very soon the hands of the law will catch up with them.

“The Council is carrying out awareness to give them enough time instead of aggressively arresting people,’’ Oladotun said.

My hubby trusts me, not bothered about gossip –Nkechi Blessing

Actress, Nkechi Blessing, has had her fair share of controversies, thanks to her voluptuous shape and outspoken nature.

However, as ‘loud’ as the actress could be, she maintained that she kept her marriage off social media for privacy and spiritual reasons.

She told Saturday Beats, “My marriage is the part of my life I wanted to be quiet about. I know that I have always been loud about all my relationships but I also like and deserve privacy too.

I only show people what I want them to see. It is my marriage and everyone should not know who I am married to. My husband does not like social media. Before some people bombard him with messages on social media, looking for what is not lost. He does not even comment on my Instagram posts.

I know I am a loud person but even spiritually, it is advisable not to always have too much buzz around everything one does. I gave birth and no one knew until they saw my child.

Everything is possible as long as one has people who are not selling one out. It is one’s friends that often sell one out, and once one cuts that down, one’s secret would be safe.

“My husband knows what I can do and he is not bothered about gossips he reads online. He is what people call the ‘ginger partner’. He knows the truth about me and that is why I can be unapologetic of my actions. I think it is important for one to marry an understanding partner.”
