Akeredolu instructs principals to refund WAEC fees to parents

The Ondo state government has ordered a refund of monies paid by parents whose children are to write the 2021 West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to NAN, Lola Amuda, permanent secretary, ministry of education, science and technology, gave the directive to principals and heads of public secondary schools in the state on Wednesday in Akure.

She spoke at a meeting with the state’s executive members of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) and other stakeholders in the education sector.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had approved N360 million for WASSCE enrolment for 25,736 students in public secondary schools in the state on March 18.

The approval was in line with the free education policy of the state government.

Amuda tasked the schools’ administrators to reciprocate the government’s good gesture by putting in their best and ensuring that the students performed excellently at the examination.

She described the principals as “the eyes and ears of government’’ in their schools and tasked them with proper implementation of the government’s policies and programmes in schools across the state.

She enjoined them to build the students academically as well as mould their characters and influence their views of the society positively so that they could grow into responsible adults.

The permanent secretary directed the principals to furnish the ministry with the names of all final year senior secondary students in their schools to establish their actual number.

On his part, Johnbull Mebawondu, the state president of ANCOPPS, thanked the government for being considerate and promised that the principals would abide by the government’s policy.

Mebawondu also stressed that the government’s gesture would relieve parents and guardians of the financial burden associated with WASSCE.

Wife exposes husband who looted shoes during Katsina market inferno

The Police Command in Katsina has arrested a 43-year-old man, Muhammad Abba, who was exposed by his wife for allegedly looting women’s shoes during the Monday morning inferno at the Katsina Central Market.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Gambo Isah, who disclosed this to newsmen, said that 33 other persons suspected to have looted traders’ wares while they scurried for safety, were also arrested.

Speaking specifically on Abba, he alleged that the suspect looted seven pairs of women shoes during the incident, and kept them in his house.

According to him, Abba’s wife, after trying in vain to get her husband to return the shoes to the relevant authorities,  decided to report him to the Police.

Isah said that the suspect told the Police, during investigation, that he picked the shoes on the road in the market, and thought it was some lost property.

He alleged that the other 33 persons equally took advantage of the confusion that enveloped the market during the inferno, to loot power generators, clothing materials and shoes.

Also looted were wall clocks, cartons of spaghetti, bags of semovita flour, cartons of milk, plastics, carpets, among others.

“It is unfortunate that these people were busy looting people’s property during the disaster.

“We have reports that some people are still in possession of such looted items, particularly within Katsina metropolis.

“I am using this medium to call on the residents to report such hoodlums to the nearest Police station for necessary action,” he said.

Isah said that the suspects would face the full wrath of the law.

“We shall prosecute them. No one will be spared,” he said.

White headmaster in New York sacked after forcing student to apologize ‘the Nigerian way’

A Catholic school on Long Island, New York, has forced the White headmaster of the school to resign following reports that he had a Black student kneel before a teacher in apology last month.

The headmaster called the form of apology the “Nigerian” and “African way” to apologize.

The incident was made public after the boy’s parent, Trisha Paul went to the local press and the headmaster was removed from his job at St. Martin de Porres School in Hempstead, New York, according to New York Daily News.

The school issued a statement yesterday saying that the headmaster has resigned following the incident involving the 11-year-old boy and that a new certified school administrator has been put in charge.

The school also promised to continue to review the incident to ensure it never happens again.

Speaking with CNN, the boy’s mother, Trisha Paul explained upon his return from school, she noticed her son seemed sad and when she asked him what happened, the boy narrated how he he had been sent to the headmaster’s office for working on an assignment in his Literature class during designated reading time.

She said her son’s teacher took the assignment, tore it up, and brought her son to the headmaster’s office. Once there, Paul said, the headmaster told her son to kneel before the teacher and apologise

Trisha said that when the headmaster called a few days later and she brought up the matter, “He began to tell me a story about an African family that attended the school many years ago.”

Trisha said the headmaster told her about a former student whose father had once told him (the student) to bow when apologizing, saying it was “the Nigerian way.”

Trisha, a Black Haitian descent, added, “I was just at a loss for words. I didn’t understand the relevance. I was really sad and disappointed.”

And when she went to the headmaster’s office for clarification, he told the story again, according to her, “This time, it was ‘the African way.'”

The woman cried out that her son was “humiliated and degraded”, adding that he has become extremely quiet”, and that “his interactions with everyone family, friends, has changed. He’s sad. He has questions. He’s just trying to cope with this.”

“We are not all the same,” she said. “We are not all Africans. We are not all Nigerians,” she lamented.

There will be no 2023 if Buhari does not restructure Nigeria – Adebanjo

Leader of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has said there will be no 2023 if President Muhammadu Buhari did not restructure Nigeria.

He said Buhari must restructure Nigeria before any election could take place.

Adebanjo stated that the president could not keep this country together under the obnoxious 1999 Constitution.

“He rigs the election and heads to the tribunal and the Supreme Court which he dictates to,” Adebanjo said in an interview with Tribune.

He said Afenifere once supported Buhari because of restructuring, which he had now failed to do.

“I have no personal grudge against Buhari. The military, who gave us the constitution, have gone back to their barracks. I want you to emphasise this: for some of the misguided intelligentsia among them and among our people, I have repeatedly said that this constitution is a fraudulent document.

“The military made it in 1966. They have not rebutted that. I have said it publicly that if Buhari truly loves this country, why is he opposed to restructuring? Why is he hesitant? It is this restructuring our founding fathers: the Sardauna, Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Tafawa Balewa, Aminu, Oyibo Ojigwe, all agreed to at independence in 1960.

“Is he more Fulani than the Sardauna? Is he more intelligent than our founding fathers? I even challenged Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, who are defending all the nonsense the government is doing.

“The confusion in this country today is because the people refused to address the issue we are talking about.

When we said they are more corrupt, it is not a case of just blackmailing them. One of the reasons we supported Buhari in 2007 was when we thought he was going to do restructuring,” he said.

Terrifying moment American Idol contestant, Funke Lagoke fainted on stage while being judged [video]

American Idol contestant Funke Lagoke was rushed to the hospital after she fainted on Monday night's episode.

Lagoke's fall happened while she was receiving feedback from the judges after her performance with fellow contestant and duet partner Ronda Felton.

In a clip from the episode, Lagoke's hands can be seen shaking while Lionel Richie talks about their performance of "Tell Him," before she fell head-first on the stage.

Richie, Luke Bryan and medical staff rushed to the stage, with Bryan commenting that "she busted her chin y'all."

The show later put up a title card revealing that Lagoke had been "treated for dehydration and released from the hospital."

"She will return for the showstopper round," the statement added.

Lagoke's duet partner Felton was in tears during the whole ordeal.

Richie, 71, told the performer that she and Lagoke had both advanced to the next round.

"Both of you deserve to go through," he said. "I want you to know, congratulations, okay? I know that was traumatic, okay? But we're here for you. We're family, okay?"

Despite the happy news, Felton was focused on making sure her duet partner was okay.

"She's gotta get some stitches," Bryan, 44, said.

Katy Perry added, "But she's gonna come back tomorrow and she's gonna be singing for showstopper."

"I'm just worried about her health more than anything. I feel like that's the number one important thing right now," Felton said in a confessional. "I just want her to know that I love her, that I care about her. I want her to be okay."

There is no rift between Buhari and Tinubu - Presidency

The Presidency dismissed reports alleging a gulf between President Buhari and the APC national Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement rolled out Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, the Presidency described Tinubu as Buhari’s strong ally.

It said reports of rift between the two politicians, were the handiwork of mischief makers.

Read the full statement:

The Presidency wishes to make it clear that there is no rift between President Muhammadu Buhari and his strong ally, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The President and the Asiwaju have a very strong commitment to the All Progressives Congress, APC towards bringing CHANGE and this is a commitment they have made to the Nigerian people.

Recent reports of a rift between the two leaders of our party are false; the handiwork of some media mischief makers.

It is quite unfortunate that certain sections of the media feed on birthing controversies, providing a nexus for naysayers who work behind the scenes planting such stories which are absolutely false.

This administration is aware of pessimists and cynics who wilfully spread misinformation to create doubts in the minds of the people about the relationship between its leaders and whether the party will remain intact or not. There is no doubt that the President and the party are focused on development, peace and security, restructuring of the economy and war against corruption in the country and will not be diverted to anything else. This desperate attempt to fool the people will not succeed.

To President Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu remains one of the most respected political leaders in the country who has stuck to his principles in the face of all adversities. He was instrumental to the formation, growth and development of the APC into a formidable political party and the political alliance is waxing even stronger.

If the Asiwaju is not a frequent face in the Aso Rock Villa, it is on account of the fact that he is not a cabinet member of this government. The fact that he is not every day around the Villa does not make him less of a friend to the President and this administration.

Queen's granddaughter, Zara Tindall gives birth to baby boy on bathroom floor

Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter Zara Tindall welcomed a son with husband Mike Tindall on Sunday, March 21.

A spokesperson for the couple announced, "Zara and Mike Tindall are happy to announce the birth of their third child, Lucas Philip Tindall." The bundle of joy, who joins siblings Mia Grace and Lena Elizabeth, weighed in at 8lbs 4oz.

On the latest episode, Mike said that their son "arrived very quickly" and was born on the bathroom floor! As Mike explained, Zara's friend Dolly Maude was with them and recognized that they wouldn't make it to the hospital in time for the baby's arrival.

"So it was running to the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get a mat on the floor, towels down," he recalled, "'brace-brace-brace.'"

"Fortunately, the midwife, who was going to meet us at the hospital wasn't that far away," he explained,

"so she drove up, got there just as we'd assumed the [position]. And then the second midwife arrived just after the head had arrived."

Zara—who is the only daughter of Princess Anne and cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry—and Mike announced her pregnancy in late 2020.

Steps to Crush Time Management Working from Home

During the Covid-19 lockdown in Nigeria, it can feel like the all we have is time, some people had to get loans, so we may not recognize the need to adequately manage it and settle on cognizant choices to more readily focus on our tasks.

Executing time management is difficult to get directly under any conditions, yet add to it the intricacy of appropriated groups, organizing endeavors with others distantly, managing the detachment and dejection of the lockdown, it turns into a test that requires some imaginative arrangements.

Be proactive and obvious

Utilize Slack and other communication platforms with your teams and continually give updates to them on what you are really going after. Tell them when you are away and can't go to work. On the off chance that you can't finish something on schedule, let the pertinent individuals know ahead of time so things don't twisting crazy.

Plan your breaks – and stick to them

Build up a daily schedule

Straightforward methods like awakening and beginning work simultaneously consistently can help you kick start your productivity. You would then be able to more readily recognize the hours of day you are more productive and dispense assignments as needs be.

Communicate your schedule to your team so they have a reasonable comprehension of when you are free so you are not continually hindered while attending to different issue.

Set objectives

Separate your assignments into sensible units. You should have the option to recognize your long-term goals and make an interpretation of that into more quick noteworthy assignments. Set up a day by day responsibility that is in accordance with arriving at your objectives toward the week's end. This permits you to evaluate your advancement on different occasions and make changes as needs be. You can also go in forex trading and investment with good brokers like forextime.

Turning off and devoting time to exercises you appreciate is vital to remaining revived and motivated. Try not to feel remorseful about dispensing time in your workday to disregarding work. Take profound, significant breaks and let people know when you are. Making 'no work zones' gives you something to anticipate and permits you to return more focused.

Figure out how to say no

While working from home we feel pressured to take on whatever assignment that arises as an approach to demonstrate how hard we are functioning. Be that as it may, this can be counter-beneficial, taking on an excessive number of things can extend us far to a point where we don't complete anything as adequately as we need to. Being straightforward about what you may or may not be able to do allows noteworthy transparency and encourages you and the organization save time.

Visual time management tools to boost profitability

Time boxing

Time boxing is a time management tool that separates your day into squares of time. Each case is committed to one action or a gathering of related exercises. Rather than dispersing your day into numerous activities that you need to get off your daily agenda in in random order, timeboxing permits you to structure your activities in a more successful way so you can better plan your day. While doing this, you can also find out what is cfd in forex and how it helps in time boxing.

This is incredible in the event that you handle various undertakings and obligations that you need to switch to and fro from. It permits you to better account for interruptions with the goal that you are not constantly responding to messages or keeping an eye on things as they emerge.

Conduct a time audit

A time audit is a process of distinguishing and recording precisely what you invested energy on in a given period of time. It's an extraordinary method to recognize shortcomings in remote teams and take corrective measures. A time audit addresses three essential inquiries:

How would you like to invest your time?

How would you really invest your time?

What changes would you be able to make?

Group similar tasks together

The process of grouping similar tasks together or 'time clustering' is an extraordinary method to separate your day. For instance, setting aside time in the day to settle on decisions, make calls, check emails or react to messages can avoid steady interruptions and can be an incredible productivity hack.

BBN's Frodd shares experience with giveaway winner he mistakenly sent N50k to instead of N5k

BBN's Frodd has shared his encounter with a giveaway winner he mistakenly sent N50,000 to, instead of N5000.

The ex-reality star had wanted to celebrate mothers on Mothers Day, so he decided to give out N50,000 to 10 single mothers.

He said winners would be picked at random and this lady was lucky to be among them.

Anyway instead of sending her N5000, he mistakenly sent N50,000 and demanded the lady return N45,000 but she instead returned N30,000.

When Frodd stood his grounds that all N45,000 be returned he told him, he is lucky because she is a nice person and that another person wouldn't have refunded a kobo.

The lady wrote;

''Am sorry I can’t if it was most people they won’t even think of sending any money back to you.

Buh I did and you are telling me to go back and send the remaining 10k to you, what if you are walking on the road and you misplaced the money what will you do?

THANK U. Moreover you’re bigger than this NEXT

I even explained to you that I’m a student and also like a younger sister to you

I even sent back the money even after pleading with you, I pleaded and you accepted and I sent it.

And here you are telling me to go send You the balance of 10k''
