Prince William should be next monarch and not Prince Charles, public poll says

Prince William would skip the queue as heir to the throne if the public had their way, according to a new poll.

When the Queen’s reign ends, Brits would rather see her grandson step in than 72-year-old son Prince Charles, Deltapoll found.

Adults below 24-years-old would even have Prince Harry as king before his father and older brother.

The Duke of Cambridge took 47% of the public vote in being next in line to wearing the crown, compared to 27% of respondents who want to see tradition continue with the Queen's eldest child.

The results are a huge blow to Prince Charles' popularity after great strides were made to improve his public image over the past two decades.

Although more than half – 51% – believe Harry, 36, along with wife Meghan, 39, have damaged the reputation of the monarchy.

Pollsters Deltapoll interviewed 1,590 adults between March 31 and April 1.

The data, weighted to be representative of the British adult population as a whole, will come as a shock to the royal family, who launched a PR drive after Charles’s divorce in 1996 from Princess Diana and their handling of her tragic death in 1997.

Just over 40% believe the monarch, who turns 95 on April 21, should remain in her position until she dies.

A fifth believe she should abdicate if in good health compared to 27% declaring Britain’s longest-serving monarch should choose to abdicate if her health fails.

If given the choice on who should succeed her, William, 38, still comes out on top with Charles, 72, a strong second.

For millennials – those aged 25 to 40 –nearly twice as many people favour Harry taking over compared to Charles.

Among 18 to 24 year olds Harry is the most popular choice, beating William 23% to 22%.

Astonishingly more people would like to see scandal-hit Prince Andrew on the throne before his younger brother Edward.

Actress Tayo Sobola reveals why she married her boyfriend of 7 years secretly

Nollywood actress, Tayo Sobola, has revealed reasons why she decided to get married secretly.

The actress shocked her fans a few months ago when she posted pictures of her wearing a wedding dress on her verified Instagram account.

While some congratulated her and wished her marital bliss, some others believed that the pictures were for a movie project she was working on.

However, in a chat with The Punch, the actress confirmed that she was truly married and that she had known her husband for over seven years.

She said, “I am married. My husband is not in the movie industry. I have been married for a while. I had known my husband for about seven years before we got married. If you know me, you will know that I am the kind of person that loves my personal life. I have been with my husband for seven years.

“I read some blog’s posts and laugh; they should feel free to tag anybody. I love keeping my personal life private; that is why I decided to marry secretly. I did not get married this year; I only just posted the pictures some months ago.”

The screen goddess, who is also a fashion entrepreneur, admitted that she had not featured in a lot of movies recently because she was focusing on her clothing line ― Clean Stitches ― which recently opened a branch in Abuja.

She said, “There is time for everything and I want to believe that whatever you want to do, you create the time for it. For me, some people send me messages saying that they have not been seeing me in movies like they used to; sometimes you leave work to pursue money. There are times that I choose a time to do movies and whoever calls me at that time, if I am free, I will shoot about two or three movies.

“There are other times that I can not do movies. Trust me, this clothing business takes time, except you just don’t have that vision. I recently opened a branch in Abuja where I have a house because I have a lot of customers there. Right now, I am more into my business ― making and selling clothes.

“I have the face already. If I leave the movie industry for a while to do my business, I will return and no one will notice that I was gone. I have plenty of films that are not out yet. So, when I am busy doing some other things, those ones will come out. That is how I try to balance them. It is when I have time that I shoot movies,” Sotayo stated.

Victoria Beckham 'worried' Brooklyn's romance with Nicola Peltz 'won't last'

Victoria Beckham is said to have voiced her concerns about her son Brooklyn's romance with Nicola Peltz.

The former Spice Girls singer, 46, reportedly wants the young couple to tone down their PDAs on social media, with the duo becoming known for their gushing declarations of love on Instagram.

Brooklyn, 22, and Nicola, 26, got engaged after just nine months of dating, and Victoria is worried that things have moved too fast, it's claimed.

A source told Heat magazine : "If they keep going like this, Vic is worried that Brooklyn and Nicola could be in burnout mode by the time they get married.

"Of course she thinks all their PDAs are cute, but they are very intense, and she's worried that they are sharing far too much of their relationship and going overboard with the grand romantic gestures."

Ink-lover Brooklyn has had several tattoos done in tribute to Nicola.

And the couple left their fans baffled when they got necklaces made of each other's wisdom teeth.

The backlash is said to have worried Victoria, who believes they should "rein it in a bit", though she loves Nicola.

The source added: "She's warned him that this honeymoon period won't last.

"She's also worried that Brooklyn is throwing everything into this relationship, and could struggle to cope if things went wrong, so he needs a back-up plan."

May/June 2021 exams unlikely to hold: WAEC

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says its 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, earlier scheduled for May/June, may not hold.

The Council’s Head of National Office (HNO), Patrick Areghan, gave the hint while announcing the release of results of the 2021 first series of the WASSCE for private candidates on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to Mr Areghan, the effect of the coronavirus pandemic is still much felt in the education sector.

He noted that the entire education calendar has been distorted and, therefore, may not be possible to conduct the examination as scheduled.

He stated that a convenient international time table for the conduct of the examination will soon be released.

He then appealed to all the school principals and proprietors to keep to the stipulated timelines for the enrolment of candidates for the examination.

According to him, it is important to re-emphasise the role of Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS) in the computation of candidates’ results.

“All schools are advised to get this aspect of the registration process right, in order to make the entry processes seamless.”

Ghislaine Maxwell accused of procuring girls for Jeffrey Epstein turns her cell into a mess - she doesn't flush after using it

Accused Jeffrey Epstein madam Ghislaine Maxwell has let her Brooklyn jail cell become a mess -- and frequently doesn’t flush her toilet after using it, prosecutors alleged in a letter Tuesday.

In the letter filed in Manhattan federal court, prosecutors responded to a claim -- which Maxwell’s lawyers made in February -- that she was abused by a jail guard during a search and forced to clean as a punishment at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

In reality, prosecutors claimed that guards made Maxwell clean her cell because she let it fall into disarray -- letting a stench grow because she often doesn’t flush the toilet after she uses it, prosecutors wrote.

“MDC staff directed the defendant to clean her cell because it had become very dirty. Among other things, MDC staff noted that the defendant frequently did not flush her toilet after using it, which caused the cell to smell,” they wrote.

They added that all pat-down searches of Maxwell have been recorded and jail officials do not believe she was abused during one of the searches, as her lawyers claimed.

“After reviewing the camera footage, the MDC concluded that the search was conducted appropriately and the defendant’s complaint about that incident was unfounded,” they wrote.

Maxwell’s lawyers had also contended that their client was losing weight and her hair due to the shoddy conditions in the lockup.

But prosecutors contended that she has not dropped a significant amount of weight behind bars — and also noted she is also now vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The defendant has received the COVID-19 vaccine and is now fully vaccinated,” prosecutors wrote.

Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 and charged in Manhattan federal court with procuring underage girls for Epstein to abuse and lying about it under oath.

APC caretaker chairman kidnapped in Rivers state

The Rivers State APC has announced the kidnap of Hiasine Wiye, its Caretaker Committee Chairman in Khana LGA.

Wiye was kidnapped at his residence in Khana Local Government area on Sunday night.

The party has called for his unconditional release.

The APC spokesman, Ogbonna Nwuke said Wiye’s kidnap further reinforced the belief that no one is safe in the state.

“The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was snatched on Sunday from his home by unknown persons.

“We have been briefed that he was taken into captivity at a time when well meaning people were celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, the Son of God.

“We are appealing to those who have seized a Rivers citizen from the arms of his loved ones to release him unconditionally.

“While the identities of persons who are currently holding him hostage are not known, we have strong reasons to believe that the act was perpetuated against the backdrop of the inability of the Rivers State Government to guarantee appropriate security protection at the grassroots.

“We call on all security agencies in the State to intensify their man-hunt for those who are responsible for the sudden disappearance of a law abiding citizen”.

Kardashian team demand take-down after candid bikini snap of Khloé leaks online

The Kardashian family always ensure their snaps are perfect before sharing them with their millions of fans.

But this week a candid photo of Khloé Kardashian, 36, was leaked online that appears to not have been heavily tweaked or edited with the help of photo-enhancing software - and she was reportedly not happy.

Despite looking stunning in the snap - which was captured in a private setting with her family as they chilled poolside - the mother-of-one reportedly ensured the Kardashian PR team got to work in having the photo taken down from several sites online.

The offering was "posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant" and due to Khloé not giving the go-ahead for the snap to be released the family urged for it removed.

According to Page Six, the image that shows Khloe in a leopard print bikini with her hair in a ponytail is authentic and several online pages have been asked to take down the snap as it was unauthorized.

“The colour edited photo was taken of Khloé during a private family gathering and posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant,” Tracy Romulus, chief marketing officer for KKW Brands, said in a statement.

“Khloé looks beautiful but it is within the right of the copyright owner to not want an image not intended to be published taken down.”

A source also told the outlet that the photo was taken while the curvy TV star was in the middle of a conversation over the weekend, and "features some edits."

In recent months the Keeping Up With The Kardashians personality has come under fire from fans for her changing looks.

She recently appeared to fire back at bitter fans who continue to point out how her looks differ from the first series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians aired 14 years ago.

The Good American brand owner could be seen venting about being trolled about her appearances in scenes that recently aired on E!.

During a chat with on-off lover Tristan Thompson, she told: "My soul is at a breaking point in regards to the public thinking they're allowed to talk about my weight, my face, my personal life ."

"Actually, I don't want to hear this any more. I've always been incredibly open with this show and my life, but I just don't think I have it in me anymore. It's not healthy for my spirit," she added.

In recent weeks, the TV star spoke out about the constant comments she receives about her dramatic change of appearance after a fan of Khloe defended her following an unflattering article headline.

My husband died on Friday not Saturday, Okei-Odumakin says

Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, the wife of late Yinka Odumakin, says her husband died on Friday, April 2, 2021, and not Saturday, April 3, 2021, as earlier reported.

Okei-Odumakin, a rights activist, in another tribute to her late husband made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said it was important to immediately put the record straight in the spirit of truth that Odumakin stood for.

The tribute is entitled: “Yinka: Basking in the shadow that you cast”.

The rights activist stressed that due to the principles of truth and saying it as it is, of which her late husband lived for all his adult life, it was important to immediately put the record straight.

“Now that I am in possession of your death certificate, I can see you passed on at exactly 10.40 p.m. on Good Friday (April 2, 2021) and not in the morning of Saturday, (April 3, 2021) as initially communicated.

“The medics said his oxygen level was running low but my husband was reaching out for his tab to type out his column.

“Since no one is permitted in the Critical Care Unit, we had committed you to the care of the best qualified medics at LASUTH and the hand of God, hoping to see you next morning.

“The medics said they could not fathom how to immediately relay the message of your passage to me directly,” she explained.

Recounting some of the deceased’s times while he was alive, Okei-Odumakin said her husband was never frugal in spending that “oxygen on his Yoruba earth, his beloved and his Nigeria, his truly beloved”.

She said that if breath was the currency of life and its legal tender, then her husband spent his breath on causes.

“My memories are rousing through chains of pains; a sea surge of a romance which sprouted in General Sani Abacha’s detention.

“My husband was not a criminal, neither was I.

“Our `crime’ was standing strong for others as we always have been. We will return to the dingy detention cell in our reminiscences later,” she said.

Prince Harry, Meghan announce first Netflix series after quitting as royals

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s media programming company, Archewell Productions, has announced its first Netflix docu-series on Tuesday, Heart of Invictus.

The multi-episode series “will follow a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe, all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses on their road to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, now set to take place in 2022,” reads a statement from Netflix.

Prince Harry is set to appear in the docu-series as well as executive produce the project. Furthermore, he will team up with his patronage, The Invictus Games Foundation Director, Orlando von Einsiedel and producer, Joanna Natasegara, USA Today reports.

The cause is near and dear to Prince Harry’s heart. The Duke of Sussex created the Invictus Games – an international competition in which wounded warriors compete in multiple sports, including wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball – in 2014 to honour and provide a platform for injured servicemen and women.

“Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve,” Prince Harry said in the statement. “This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year.”

He continued: “I couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead or prouder of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential and continued service.”

“Heart of Invictus” marks Archewell Productions’ first Netflix series after the royals signed a multiyear deal with the streaming giant in September to produce scripted series, docu-series, documentaries, features and children’s programming.

Ted Sarandos, co-CEO and chief content officer of Netflix, said the couple’s first docu-series highlights “the values and causes they hold dear.”

“From the moment I met them, it’s been clear that the Invictus Games hold a very special place in their hearts, and I couldn’t be happier that their first series for Netflix will showcase that for the world in a way never seen before,” said Sarandos.

A release date hasn’t been announced yet.

AstraZeneca vaccine: Nigeria probes blood clotting side effects

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) is investigating the blood clotting in some persons who received the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Director General, Chikwe Ihekweazu, spoke to the press at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing.

On Tuesday, the European Medicines Agency announced there’s a causal link between AstraZeneca’s jab and rare blood clots.

Marco Cavaleri, Head of Health Threats and Vaccine Strategy, told Rome’s Il Messaggero newspaper that a definitive statement will be released this week.

Ihekweazu said the government was aware of the blood clotting in individuals in Europe.

“Those investigations are still ongoing. Not all European countries are adopting the vaccines for their populations,” he said.

The DG assured that Nigeria has a system to measure and monitor any side effects.

Ihekweazu said the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) are on top of the situation.

“Actions will be taken after data and circumstances are fully evaluated,” the NCDC chief added.
