Super Eagles moves up to 32 in FIFA ranking

Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles are now rated as the 32nd best football playing nation in the world.

The 2013 African champions climbed four places in April’s rankings released by the Federation of International Football Association on Thursday.

In the month under review, Nigeria garnered 1487 points to become the third-best team on the continent after overtaking Algeria and Morocco.

This leap is not far- fetched from the country’s impressive results during last month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Paul Onuachu’s last-gasp header helped Rohr’s team silence the Squirrels at the Stade Charles de Gaulle, Porto-Novo. Three days later, they defeated Thabo Senong’s Crocodiles at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Despite dropping two places, Senegal are ranked first in Africa and 22nd in the world with 1542 points while Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles – who are unmoved – remained 26th globally and second in Africa after accruing 1512 points.

Guinea Bissau are the biggest mover in April – moving a massive eleven places to the 108th position in the world while Nambia are ranked 111th with a 10-place move.

For Africa Cup of Nations debutants Comoros, losing 4-0 to Mohamed Salah’s Egypt on the last day of their Afcon qualification drop a place in the ratings – to be ranked no. 36 in Africa and 131st worldwide.

The order of the top six has not changed, with Belgium leading the pack while France, Brazil, England, Portugal and Spain follow in that order

European side Armenia (90, +9) are the most improved side in terms of points thanks to a gain of 40.28 points, while African side Malawi (115, +8), Cape Verde (73, +7), and Ethiopia (140, +6), also made significant progress.

Woman with the world's longest nails cuts them after nearly 30 years

A woman who held the Guinness World Record for the world's longest fingernails has cut them short after almost 30 years of growing.

Ayanna Williams from Houston, Texas, entered the Guinness World Records in 2017, for the 'longest nails on a pair of hands'.

At the time, her nails measured a combined 18ft in length. Before the trim they were 24ft long, with the longest individual nail measuring 38in.

Ayanna, who needed to have professional cut the nails with an electronic rotary cutter due to the scale and thickness, admitted it was a 'relief' to have the nails gone.

It also means she will be able to do every day tasks like wash the dishes and change the bed for the first time in years.

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Ayanna said: 'The last time I measured my nails the longest one was 38 inches.

'I get so many different kinds of reactions from growing my nails, it's unbelievable. The majority are good, people are excited and they don't know what to think or say actually because it's something you don't see on the norm.

'I'm going to always be the queen with or without my nails because my nails don't make me, I make my nails.'

Ayanna joked that her mother thought her nails were long when they were just 2in at the beginning of her attempt to grow them.

She admitted that she was worried about breaking a nail before having them cut and that she will miss having them - despite taking more than 20 hours and two bottles of nail polish to manicure.

The nail artist said she would encourage others who wants to grow their nails because everybody should be allowed to be themselves.

'If you want to grow your nails long, do it. Why not?,' Ayanna said.

'It's your life do it. The main thing is don't worry about what people say because people are going to talk at the end of the day, if you're doing good or doing bad.

'If you want to grow your nails do it. I'll encourage you, hit me up. You know where to find me.'

She used an electronic device to trim each of Ayanna's nails.

Ayanna said she felt 'relieved' to have her nails cut, saying: 'My knuckles seem like they just loosened up.'

The great-grandmother added that she's excited to see her nails on display, and is happy for Guinness and Ripley to own them because it's history for her children.

12-year-old boy dies after jumping from 15-story apartment building

A 12-year-old boy jumped from the roof of an Upper East Side building in New York City on Tuesday, killing himself.

The unidentified boy landed on a parked car when he leapt from the roof of the 15-story apartment building at 1045 Park Avenue.

The NYPD tells DailyMail.com they responded to the scene following a 911 call around 3:45pm.

The NYPD won't reveal more details while it investigates.

While the police haven't released details, the apparent suicide comes at a time when mental health professionals have expressed worry over the effects of a year's worth of lockdown - and no school - on younger people.

Officers came across an unconscious and unresponsive male with body trauma atop of a car.

The boy landed on a parked car, shattering the front window of the vehicle according to the New York Post.

EMS was called to the scene and transported the boy to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the police. A medical examiner will determine cause of death.

The NYPD did not officially reveal the age of the victim as the investigation is ongoing.

Piers Morgan slams Khloe Kardashian for 'blowing scam' after leaked unedited photo

Piers Morgan has taken aim at the entire Kardashian clan, with Good American entrepreneur Khloe Kardashian first in the firing line.

The former Good Morning Britain star, 56, has accused the mum-of-one, 36, of blowing the family's "scam" after her unedited picture was leaked online.

Over the weekend, a picture of Khloe in a bikini was shared online without her authorisation, only for her team to request the image be removed.

Depicting Khloe in a leopard print bikini by the poolside, the reality star looked naturally radiant in the unedited snapshot.

In his latest column for MailOnline, Piers suggested the sharing of the candid image would have "horrified" Khloe, claiming her other images have been heavily edited.

"The photo of Khloé Kardashian in a leopard print bikini that's gone viral this week is truly jaw-dropping," he wrote.

"Because it's real. No filters, no airbrushing, little make-up, hair scraped back in a ponytail - just a picture of how Ms Kardashian actually looks."

Piers then went to compare the image to the other bikini photos shared on her social media, saying "her waistline is significantly less defined, her curves less dramatic and her skin not so impossibly smooth".

The broadcaster suggested the picture was "refreshingly normal" compared to her other bikini photos, which he claimed were "substantially worked on".

"With one carelessly released genuine photo, the scam's been blown," Piers added.

Khloe's team requested the picture be taken down after it was posted online, explaining it had been shared with the public "unlawfully".

Khloe's grandmother MJ Shannon had taken the picture during a private family gathering.

Prince William ‘auditioned’ Kate Middleton to be his wife and working royal

Prince William 'auditioned' Kate Middleton before asking her to marry him, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke reportedly wanted to make sure she'd be a right fit for the Royal Family and be prepared for the highs and lows of royal life.

Before the pair married in April 2011, William had known Kate for almost 10 years after they met as students at St Andrews.

Royal expert Robert Lacey claimed he felt he had to 'audition' his wife before he proposed while appearing on The Day Will and Kate Got Married on ITV.

He said he was 'auditioning' her for her future role as Duchess.

He explained: "It's been said that William was auditioning Catherine for her future role.

"And I think there's a truth to that. William is the future King of Britain and the Commonwealth and, like it or not, part of his job was to choose a consort who would do the job well."

After the couple dating for four years, they briefly split up in 2007, which royal expert Katie Nicholls says the prince initiated.

"It was William who instigated that split," she said. "Kate wanted a sense of commitment and at that point in time, William wasn't able to give it to her."

Mr Lacey also claimed in his 2020 book, the Battle of Brothers, that Prince William dumped Kate over the phone while she was working as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw.

However, they got back together after a couple of months.

The Queen is reported to have advised Kate to get involved with charities and the Duchess started working for Starlight, which works with terminally ill children.

Addressing their break-up in their 2010 engagement interview, William said: "We were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff, it was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up."

Additionally, Kate Middleton said it was difficult not to be "consumed" by the relationship at first.

Giving insight into how she dealt with the split, she added: "At the time, I wasn't very happy about it but actually it made me a stronger person.

"You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realised, or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn't think it at the time. Looking back on it."

Covid rule-breaker DIES after Philippines police 'made him do 300 squats as punishment'

A Filipino man has died after allegedly being forced to do 300 squat thrusts by police as punishment for breaking Covid rules in his home country.

Darren Manaog Penaredondo, 28, died in General Trias city, on the outskirts of the capital Manila, on April 3 - two days after he was caught by police buying a bottle of water from a local shop after the 6pm curfew.

Partner Reichelyn Balce said he and a group of other curfew-breakers were forced to do 100 squat thrusts - but had to repeat the exercise if they failed to do it in unison.

By the time Mr Penaredondo arrived home the following morning, Ms Blace said he had performed 300 of the exercises and was barely able to walk.

'When he came home on Friday, around 8am, he was assisted by a fellow quarantine violator who was arrested with him,' Ms Balce told local news site Rappler.

'I asked if he was beaten up. He just smiled but it was obvious he was in pain.'

Ms Blace said he was unable to stand for the rest of the day, and was crawling across the floor because his legs and knees hurt so much.

Then, while trying to use the bathroom, Mr Penaredondo began suffering seizures and had to be revived by a neighbour using CPR.

He regained consciousness for a short time afterwards, but eventually passed away around 10pm without ever reaching hospital.

Cousin Adrian Lucena announced the death on Facebook, writing: 'We love you so much. We will not allow those responsible to escape justice.

'Sorry I can't go home because of these times. I love you so much.'

Rodolfo Cruz Jr, head of local village guard units, confirmed that Mr Penaredondo was arrested for breaching curfew on the night of April 1 - but said he was handed over to municipal police shortly afterwards.

Lieutenant Colonel Marlo Solero, head of the local police force, denied that squats are used as a punishment for curfew violators and said officers are supposed to give lectures to rule-breakers.

If police are found to have ordered Mr Penaredondo to do squats then it will not be tolerated, he added.

Mayor Ony Ferrer released a statement on Facebook as news of the death spread, pledging to carry out a full investigation.

'We want to know what really happened for the family’s sake,' he said.

He added that he had been in contact with Mr Penaredondo's family to offer his condolences.

It comes as Rodrigo Duterte extended a lockdown by another week after an alarming spike in coronavirus infections in the Philippines.
