The young man who seems so much interested in singer Waje asked her how old she is as he wants to date her but he is in his 20s.

But the singer  respectfully turned him down saying she’s sure he will find a lovely girl about his age to show him that she’s far older than him and can’t have a romantic relationship with him as he wishes.

Google’s Doodle honors music legend Oliver de Coque’s 74th posthumous birthday

Google on Wednesday unveiled a Doodle to posthumously mark the 74th birthday of Nigerian music legend and highlife maestro Oliver de Coque, one of Africa’s most prolific recording artists of all time.

The Doodle, created by Lagos-based graphic artist and illustrator Ohab TBJ, pays tribute to the guitarist who died in June 2008 at 61 following a heart attack.

The creative inspiration was drawn from De Coque’s love for the guitar, his energetic performance style, his unique music brand, and his love of tradition and culture.

“Oliver de Coque was a popular musician from the Igbo part of Nigeria. As a kid back in the 90s, I recalled my late dad playing his songs. I will never forget watching my uncles and aunts dancing to his music; their happiness was contagious,” says Ohab TBJ.

London court slams perpetual injunction on woman ‘defaming’ Olukoya, MFM

A London High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) has granted a perpetual injunction restraining Maureen Badejo from publishing further defamatory words against or concerning Dr. Daniel Olukoya, his family and the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

The judge, Master Gary Thornett, also ordered Badejo to pay the legal costs incurred by the Olukoyas in the suit.

He ruled that further court session(s) would be held to determine the actual cost to be awarded to Dr Olukoya, his family and the Church.

The hearing, which began at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 13, finished at about 1:05pm.

The claimants instituted the suit following several claims – no fewer than 52 – allegedly made against them by Badejo and her GIO TV on YouTube and Facebook.

They were represented by Mrs Nath Director and Solicitor of Nath Solicitors London Boutique firm specialising in defamation and by Mr Jonathan Price of Doughty Street Chambers.

In her counter-claim Badejo demandes monies allegedly lost by her from the shutting down of some of her broadcasts by You-Tube and Facebook sequel to complaints from Dr. Olukoya’s lawyers.

But, dismissing her claim, Master Thornet described it as a “frivolous”, and an abuse of process.

He held: “…it is overwhelmingly clear that the nature of this defamation is severe and serious…..and that the number of publications are considerable”.

Responding to the ruling Dr Olukoya, his family and the Church said in a statement: “These victories are a tribute to the Lord our God who would never permit evil to triumph over righteousness.”

Tuesday’s decision makes it the second time Badejo would receive knocks from the justice system for defaming the Olukoyas and the Church.

On February 9, 2021, an Abeokuta High Court awarded N250million each to the Olukoyas and MFM (making a total N500 million) as aggravated and exemplary damages for libel committed against them by Badejo.

The court also ordered Badejo to immediately pull down and erase each of the offending online publications/posts concerning the claimants from the internet.

EFCC only invited me, Okorocha breaks silence on arrest

Immediate past Imo Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha has broken silence on his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Okorocha was arrested by the EFCC operatives at about 4:10pm on Tuesday at his Unity House office located at Garki, Abuja.

But speaking through his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha said since the anti-graft agency was only doing its job he would cooperate fully with it.

“To us, the Commission is doing its job and should be given the needed co-operation. And Okorocha being a law-abiding citizen, would always cooperate with the Commission over the Matters in Courts.

“EFCC is not a slaughter House, but a very responsible institution and should be seen as such,” Onwuemeodo said.

He maintained the Imo West Senator is being investigated because of the new leadership at the commission.

According to him: “The truth is that, Okorocha left as the governor of Imo State on May 28, 2019. And shortly after his exit as Governor, Imo State Government wrote petitions upon petitions against him.

“The EFCC investigated the petitions and has been in various Courts of the land with Okorocha, to that effect.

“And if the EFCC has decided to invite Okorocha for Clarifications on the matters already in Courts, especially with a new Chairman at the helm of affairs at the Commission, there is nothing wrong with that.

“The matters between EFCC and Okorocha over his governorship in Imo, have been pending in various Courts of the land.

“At the end of the day, we would know whether the Commission will be withdrawing the Cases in Courts, or would continue with the cases already in Courts.”

20 preschool children die in school fire after being trapped

20 nursery school children died in Niger on Tuesday in a fire that trapped them in straw-hut classrooms.

“There were 20 deaths, most of them young children,” said the head of Niger’s fire service, Col. Bako Boubacar.

He said the origin of the fire in Niamey was unknown.

An official of a Niger’s teachers union said the school in the popular Pays Bas neighborhood had around 800 students, including children in the nursery section.

Brazil building new Jesus statue even taller than Rio's Christ the Redeemer

Officials in the Brazilian city of Encantado have embarked on the construction of a statue of Jesus set to be roughly 16 feet taller than the famous Christ the Redeemer statue that has overlooked Rio de Janeiro for decades.

CNN reported Monday that a Brazilian organization called the Friends of Christ Association is leading the project in southern Brazil, which has already begun the construction of a 141-foot-tall statue of Jesus Christ with outstretched arms like the Cristo Redentor statue.

The new statue is set to be titled Christ the Protector and will be the third-tallest statue of Jesus in the world following a 172-foot statue in Poland and a massive 253-foot statue being built in Mexico.

The goal of the project, which is being funded by individual and corporate donations, is to boost the region's tourism industry, according to CNN.

Tourists who visit the completed project will be able to take an elevator up to a glass lookout in the statue's torso where pictures can be taken, the project's supervisor told the news network.

The statue's head and arms were attached earlier this month, and the project is set to conclude by the end of the year. Construction for the project began in 2019.

Interesting! The dirty fight between Chet Hanks, his ex-girlfriend and the $1m suit

The ex-girlfriend of Hollywood scion Chet Hanks is suing him for $1 million, claiming he physically and verbally abused her during their relationship.

Attorneys for Kiana Parker charged that Hanks -- the 30-year-old son of actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson had shown “an ever-escalating pattern of domestic abuse,” as they announced the lawsuit during a press conference in Texas on Tuesday.

“This is about violence within the confines of a relationship between a man and a woman, a man who mentally and physically and psychologically battered, Kiana Parker,” lawyer Kevin Murray said.

The suit, filed Monday in Fort Bend County, details several alleged incidents of abuse, including a Jan. 8 fight that led Parker to file a restraining order against Hanks, which was granted later that month.

The two began dating in March 2019 and moved in together about a year later, the court documents say.

On Oct. 18, 2020, Parker claims Hanks became enraged when she wanted to leave their hotel room in New Orleans, where he was filming for the Showtime series “Your Honor.”

Later that night, he allegedly “became aggressive and hostile.” When she tried to leave, Hanks “grabbed her with great force, by her right arm causing instant pain,” the suit alleges.

“Defendant Hanks refused to release the grip, and as Parker sought to get out of the violent situation, Defendant Hanks pushed her with such force that Parker knocked over tables in the room,” the court docs say.

As she tried to get away again, Hanks allegedly pushed her, called her a “ghetto black bitch” and smashed her phone into pieces, according to the lawsuit.

He then allegedly warned her not to report the incident, saying that she should remember he was “Chet Hanks and she wasn’t shit, no one would believe her, she was just a ghetto black bitch.”

The next month, in Sugar Land, Texas, Hanks allegedly “threatened to “blow [Parker’s] brains out” in a murder-suicide, the lawsuit claims. The conversation allegedly took place while Parker’s 9-year-old twins were in the house.

The couple finally agreed to split on Jan. 6, but two days later, when Parker went to move her stuff out of the Sugar Land house, Hanks allegedly “became extremely aggressive.”

She claims he came at her with a knife and that she defended herself by swinging a pot at his head.

Footage published by TMZ last month showed Hanks accusing Parker of threatening him with a knife, not the other way around.

The video showed Parker lunging at Hanks with a pot, leaving him with a gushing head wound. He also accused her of stealing his money and credit cards.

Hanks subsequently sued Parker for assault and battery, theft and return of the money she allegedly stole from him.

He didn’t immediately respond to Parker’s lawsuit on Tuesday, but about an hour after the press conference, announced he would be dropping his “White Boy Summer” music video early.

“F–k it,” he wrote on Instagram. “I was gonna wait til Friday but I see y’all really ready for this. ‘White Boy Summer’ dropping 6 p.m. today.”

Parker’s lawyers, Murray and D’Angelo Lowe, said they had reached out to Hanks’ and his famous parents about Parker’s accusations “multiple times” in January and February, but never heard back.

“I’m sorry, Chet Hanks would have been charged by now,” Lowe added. “Instead, he has not been charged and has made a mockery of black women in the criminal justice system by proclaiming that it’s going to be a ‘white boy summer,’ and a ‘black queen summer’ while knowing he mentally and physically abused a black queen.”

Hanks’ attorney, Marty Singer, told The Post in statement that, “We consider the claims filed by Kiana Parker to be a shakedown.”

Nigerian Ifeanyi Eke jailed in New York for $3m email scam

Nigerian Ifeanyi Eke, who was resident in Sandy Springs Georgia has been sentenced by a New York court to 40 months in prison for conspiring to commit wire fraud, as part of a wide-ranging international business email compromise (“BEC”) syndicate.

Ifeanyi Eke, also known as “Luther Mulbah Doley,” pleaded guilty on Tuesday and was summarily sentenced in Manhattan federal court by U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman.

In addition to the prison term, 34 year-old Eke was sentenced to three years of supervised release.

He was further ordered to forfeit $365,205, and to pay restitution to his victims in the amount of $2,691,908.30.

Audrey Strauss, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced the sentencing in a statement by the Department of Justice.

U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said: “As he admitted today, Ifeanyi Eke played a key role in an international conspiracy that deceived and defrauded dozens of victims of nearly $3 million. Fittingly, Eke has been sentenced to prison and ordered to make restitution to the victims of the conspiracy.”

According to the allegations in the Indictment, other court filings, and statements made during court proceedings:

Between in or about 2016 and July 2018, EKE and his co-conspirators, including codefendants Cyril Ashu, Joshua Ikejimba, and Chinedu Ironuah, perpetrated a fraudulent BEC scheme through which they deceived dozens of victims, both foreign and domestic, into wiring

Between in or about 2016 and July 2018, EKE and his co-conspirators, including codefendants Cyril Ashu, Joshua Ikejimba, and Chinedu Ironuah, perpetrated a fraudulent BEC scheme through which they deceived dozens of victims, both foreign and domestic, into wiring millions of dollars to bank accounts controlled by the syndicate. The fraud was perpetrated by sending victims “spoofed” emails, which purported to be from counter-parties whom the victims knew and trusted, and which contained wiring instructions fraudulently directing the victims to send funds to accounts that were in fact controlled by the defendants and others involved in the scheme.

EKE played a broad role in the fraud. As part of the scheme, EKE personally received wire transfers of fraud proceeds from several different victims in bank accounts that he opened and controlled. One of the victims, an intergovernmental organization headquartered in New York, was defrauded into sending $188,815 into EKE’s bank account. After receiving the fraud proceeds, EKE withdrew and transferred them both for his own use and for dissemination to his co-conspirators. In addition to receiving and dissipating victim funds directly, EKE managed and supervised other members of the conspiracy, including by arranging for co-conspirators’ accounts to receive fraud proceeds, receiving and communicating wire transfer information contained in victim emails, and coordinating the acquisition and deposit of checks representing fraud proceeds.

In total, EKE is responsible for actual losses to 35 victims totalling approximately $2.7 million.

Eke, 34, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, pleaded guilty to, and was sentenced on, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1349.

The U.S. Consul General in Nigeria, Claire Pierangelo, has disclosed that the American government had provided over $6 billion since 2003 as assistance for the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

On Tuesday, Ms Pierangelo revealed this when she led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

She stated that 1.2 million Nigerians were currently under HIV/AIDS treatment, explaining that the delegation was in Ibadan for the launch of the HIV/AIDS Treatment Surge programme.

The programme is on Wednesday (today).

The consul general said the launch of the programme in the state would create additional opportunities for many people to benefit from the treatment.

“Additionally, we are looking for other ways of cooperation, whether in training or cooperation on child immunisation,” she said.

In her response, the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun, who received the delegation on behalf of Mr Makinde, thanked the U.S. diplomat and her team.

Ms Adeosun said the government had held useful discussions with the delegation on cooperation between the state and the consulate.

“With those discussions, we know that they will be keying very much into the pillars of this government, especially in training, which has to do with education.

“As well as the whole HIV surge programme and other public health programmes we will be doing, which tie directly to our health policy,” she stated.
