Anthony Joshua insists he would defeat Fury in blockbuster fight

Unified Boxing champion, Anthony Joshua has vowed again that he would defeat WBC title holder Tyson Fury in their forthcoming match to hold later this year.

Joshua told the Jonathan Ross Show, on Saturday when asked if Tyson could win but said unfortunately, he would lose the match.

Asked if Tyson could claim his three major belts, Joshua laughed: “Unfortunately he’s not going to win.”

Joshua also assured that the match would hold this year hinting that it may be by the end of July or early in August.

He also explained that the deal has been stalled due to finding a venue.

“I’m pretty sure it’ll be this year. End of July, early August,” he said.

“Where? That’s what’s the delay, because of this pandemic. We want to have people coming to the venue. It’s just finding the right location. For me, Wembley would be ideal.”

The Unified boxing champion also said thathe would be retiring from boxing in five or six years time.

At the age of 31, Joshua has become a two-time world champion, but believes he still has plenty more to achieve before eventually bowing out of boxing.

When asked how long he wants to remain in the sport, Joshua replied: “Five to six years left.”

No man is responsible for my success –Mercy Eke

The winner of BBNaija Season 4, Mercy Eke, is not happy with the claims in some quarters that a man is responsible for her success.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, the reality star said, “In this part of the world, people believe a man is behind the success of a woman, whether she is married or single.

I work hard for everything I own today. When people say a man is behind these things, I find it appalling. However, it does not get to me anymore because what else would one say? It only shows that my success is visible.”

When a fan asked her about the state of her relationship with Ike Onyema, she said, “Break up happened. We are done. That ship sank a long time ago. I am in a happy place and he is good as well. Stop flooding my timeline with this silly question; we are over. So, let’s just keep it moving.”

Eke also stated that the fear of failure makes her stronger. She said, “My biggest fear in life is failure. I don’t want to fail and go back to the streets. I don’t want to roast corn anymore. I just want to keep doing what I know how to do best. God has blessed me.

The fear of failure makes me stronger. I want to be a better person. I want today to be better than yesterday.

That is why no matter what is thrown at me, I would never stop growing. I would never stop establishing myself and I would never stop dreaming,”

According to the former BBN contestant, she sometimes forgets that she is a celebrity.

She added, “I worked hard for this fame and I won’t let the fame get to me. Sometimes, I even forget that I am a celebrity. I drive myself and do things a normal person does.”

Musa to play for free at Pillars

Ahmed Musa will not be paid in his short stint at Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League, Saturday PUNCH reports.

Musa, 28, signed for the four-time Nigerian champions under the Elite Players Programme of the League Management Company, which encourages top Nigerian internationals to play for local clubs.

According to LMC boss Shehu Dikko, the programme works in two ways.

A club can identify and sign such players, or the LMC itself can sign the player and assign them to a club of their choice.

It was the latter for Musa.

“We spoke to him about coming back home to play, and as someone who is always ready to give back, he did not hesitate,” Dikko told ESPN.

“Once the agreement was signed, the choice of which club to play for was up to him. A number of clubs wanted him. We put everything in front of him and he made the decision to go to Kano Pillars.”

Musa has been a free agent since October 2020, when he left Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, with whom he won the Saudi Pro League title and Super Cup after joining them from Leicester City in 2018.

Police take over venue of Yoruba self-determination rally

The police have taken over Mapo Hall, Ibadan the venue of the rally organised by the Prof Banji Akintoye-led Ilana Odua to sensitise people about Yoruba self-determination.

Akintoye, who is an 86-year-old Emeritus Professor of History, was scheduled to lead the rally but punch correspondent observed that the venue is surrounded by armed policemen and armour personnel carrier.

There are more than 20 police vehicles including patrol vans in Mapo Area.

The organisers have also not been seen at the venue although some members were said to have come earlier and left because of the situation there.

However, a truck-mounted with a megaphone was later seen with a few Yoruba agitators going towards Oritamerin from Bere side.

Calls put across to some of the organisers were not picked. But it was gathered that they were strategising for the next line of action.

Enugu police arrest woman for allegedly killing her stepson

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command attached to the 9th Mile Police Division have arrested one Mrs. Nnenna Egwuagu for allegedly murdering her stepson.

Command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, said the 29-yr-old suspect, who hails from Umulumgbe in Udi Local Council of the state, “administered a noxious substance to her three-year-old stepson, Wisdom Egwuagu, thereby causing his sudden death.”

Ndukwe disclosed that Nnenna’s husband and father of the deceased, Justine Egwuagu, reported the incident to the Police, alleging, “the unusual actions of the suspect towards the child caused his death.”

“She claimed that her action was due to her husband’s inability to take care of her and their daughter, and that she wanted the child to become sick, so her husband could spend money to treat him.

Meanwhile, the Police have revealed that the container of the noxious substance and syringe the suspect used to administer the substance to the child had been recovered, while further investigation into the case was ongoing at the State Criminal and Investigation Department (CID).

Russia detains Ukraine’s consulate general for ‘spying’

Russia has detained Ukraine’s consulate general Oleksandr Sosonyuk for “spying”

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Oleksandr Sosonyuk received classified information from law enforcement agency databases.

The spying claims come amid high tension between the two ex-Soviet countries with fears the situation could deteriorate into war.

A statement from the FSB said he was “caught red-handed” in a meeting with a Russian citizen “receiving classified information from law enforcement agencies and FSB databases”.

The FSB said: “The foreign diplomat will be handled in accordance with the norms of international law.”

The security service said his activities were incompatible with his status as a diplomat.

He “has a clear hostile nature in relation to Russia.

“This activity is incompatible with the status of a diplomatic worker and is clearly hostile against Russian Federation”, the message reads.

Meanwhile, Russia has massed almost 100,000 troops on its borders with Ukraine in recent days, sparking fears of a full-scale invasion.

How I strangled creditor disturbing me to repay N100,000 — Suspect

A revenue collector in the Umuleri area of Anambra State, Ifeanyi Ezinwa, is being held by the police for the murder of his relative, Chukwuebuka Iloegbunam.

Ezinwa reportedly strangled 19-year-old Iloegbunam for persistently demanding repayment of N100,000 he borrowed from him.

City Round learnt that Ezinwa, 29, asked the victim to meet him at a bush path near a secondary school in the town around 8.30pm on the pretence of paying the debt.

It was said that Ezinwa hid a knife in a loaf of bread and aimed the weapon upon Iloegbunam’s arrival.

In the ensuing altercation, Iloegbunam reportedly managed to collect the knife from Ezinwa and stabbed him. The debtor later overpowered him and strangled him. Ezinwa was said to have gone to the town, claiming that he and the deceased were attacked by robbers.

He was consequently arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Awka.

The case was later taken over by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team led by DCP Abba Kyari, following a petition by the deceased’s family.

“It was at the IRT office that he finally confessed to the crime. He said he committed the act alone on January 15, 2021 around 8.30pm. He lured the deceased to a lonely path near Umuleri Technical School, stabbed and strangled him,” a police source told City Round.

Ezinwa, who collects levies at markets in the town on behalf of elders, explained that he took N100,000 from the revenue. He said he borrowed N100,000 from the victim so he could turn in the revenue on the designated date.

He said, “I am married with three children. I dropped out of secondary school at SS2, months after my father died. I learnt how to drive and started driving commercial buses. It was not easy for me. About two years ago, some of our kinsmen invited me to work for the community. I am a revenue collector for the elderly men in the community.

“We have markets and every trader is expected to pay a certain amount of money. I spent part of the money I collected. I knew I would lose my job if they noticed a shortage. It was out of desperation that I approached Chukwuebuka (Iroegbunam) who ran a provision store in our village. He is my relative. We are from the same kindred in Umuleri. I borrowed N100,000 from him in December 2020 and promised to pay back on January 10. I could not meet up with the deadline and he kept disturbing me and threatened to report me to the Igwe (king).

“I made up my mind to silence him. I bought a loaf of bread and hid a sharp knife in it. I called him to meet me at Aguleri junction around 8pm. He came with an okada man and I asked the rider to go.”

Ezinwa said they both took a walk under the guise that they were heading for where to get the money, adding that along the way he lied to Iroegbunam that he wanted to urinate.

He stated, “There are bushes around the school and people hardly pass through the route. I immediately brought out the knife. He saw me on time and started fighting. He took the knife and stabbed me before I grabbed his neck and strangled it. I ran to the palace and the Igwe of Umuleri was not around. I told the security men I met that I was attacked by armed robbers and they asked me to go to the hospital for treatment.

“The next day, the chairman of security in our community came with the police and arrested me. They found Iroegbunam’s body but I insisted that we were attacked. I eventually told the police the truth. I cannot explain the devil that entered me.”

Pep Guardiola snubs Yaya Toure’s letter of apology

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has confirmed he wrote a letter of apology to Pep Guardiola in order to find peace.

Toure, 37, is regarded as one of the club’s greatest ever players winning three Prem titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups during his eight-year stint at Man City but left almost unsung.

While City built a statue of David Silva and also planning to build one for Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure feels he is not welcome back at the club.

The midfielder’s exit at the Etihad in 2018 was tarnished with comments accusing Guardiola of having a problem with African players in an explosive interview with France Football.

He is now trying to repair his relationship with the club but Guardiola and owner Khaldoon Al Mubarak did not reply to his letters of apology.

Reported by the Daily Mail, Toure said: “That interview was my big, huge mistake.

“This one was wrong. I want to apologise for what happened, I want to apologise for doing something wrong.

“We decided we would try to communicate with some important people at the club to apologise and say I’ve been indecent to the club.

“Since then, it has been a very, very long while waiting for an answer, but we don’t get it.

“And, of course, if he feels like that, I cannot do anything.

"Of course, I’ve been in touch with some people there. But the people at the top, it’s impossible.

“I want peace. We don’t want this (acrimony) all the time.

“For the love of the fans, for the love of the club, sometimes things have to be settled the right way. I’ve been in touch with some people there.”

Toure also played under Guardiola and Barcelona but lost his place in the side to Sergio Busquests.

In his explosive interview, Toure said: “It feels like he was jealous of me, he saw me as a rival… as if I was taking the limelight away from him.

“He was cruel with me. Do you really think he could’ve been like that with Iniesta?

“It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour.

“I’m not the first, other Barca players asked the question too. Maybe us Africans aren’t always treated the same by certain people.

“When you see the problems he [Pep] has often had with African players, everywhere he has been, I ask myself questions.

“He’s too intelligent to be caught. He’ll never admit it [not liking Africans].

“But the day he picks a team with five Africans in, I promise I will send him a cake!”

Forces against FG’s NIN policy behind attacks against me – Pantami

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has explained that forces against the Federal Government policy of compulsory National Identity Number (NIN) registration for all Nigerians and those residing in the country are behind the attacks against him.

Pantami in an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES dismissed all the allegations against him, describing them as ‘untrue’.

He further denied links to extremist views, saying criminals and other ‘entrenched interests’ are behind the attacks on him. He said, “I have no doubt about this. It has to do with the National Identification Number. Do you know one thing? This policy was started in 2011, it was not successful. Why? It was fought.

“In 2015, it came up, it was not successful. In 2018 there was a time that there were meetings between government and mobile network operators.

“And it was actually announced that by the agreement with government, the deadline was January 2018. It is there online, I will share it with you if you like. By January 2018, it was not implemented, because there are forces against it. There are forces!

Pantami explained that the National Identification Number registration is not only meant for Nigerians and that it could be obtained by anybody in Nigeria.

“Now they have started coming with the news that people are coming from neighbouring countries to register. What they fail to understand is that the National Identification Number is not only for Nigerians; anybody in Nigeria can obtain it.

“Section 16 and 17 of the Act mention the registrable people in the country – citizens, legal residents, legal permanent residents, and legal residents for a minimum of two years. So, it is not only for citizens. And it is also important to know that this is not just an indication that they are citizens of Nigeria.

“It is rather an indication that you presented your biometric data, so the government has control over your data.

“And that data of NIMC (National Identity Management Commission), nobody has access to it in any way he likes. Getting access to it illegally is 10 years in prison. It is there in the law. But people will like to discredit it, because they don’t like it.

“As long as it is implemented by the government, it will go a long way in reducing crime and based on the statistics we have been seeing now, it’s really encouraging.

“As government, our priority is the protection of the lives and property of our citizens. Security is our priority as a government – whether in agric, digital economy, education or in health, in whatever. President Muhammadu Buahari is so passionate about security, and he directed me to do that because he knows I try to persevere despite challenges and do what is right in the interest of our citizens and humanity.”

“You know as a government appointee, and at this level, if you say you are going to be intimidated by everything, then you cannot do the work. You cannot do the work. I was with the Minister of Foreign Affairs this week, on April 12. I was with the minister. I was with the ambassadors of the U.K., the U.S., South Korea, and many other countries.

“Even this issue that we are talking about, based on our findings, preliminary investigation, many people are not happy with what we have been doing – linking National Identification Number with SIM. Because a situation will come that all the people using SIM to commit crime will not be able to do that.

“If they do that, the government will be able to intercept them easily. This is what they don’t want to happen.”

And this is a mandate given to me by President Muhammadu Buhari. He personally signed the letter that ‘you are mandated to do that’.

“As his appointee, I should either do it or say I cannot. So, since I am willing to serve my country, I must continue to do it to the best of my ability.

“So, in my meeting with them, they even encouraged me to push it and make it very successful.”

Emmanuel TV: UK organisation reported TB Joshua to YouTube

UK civil rights organisation, OpenDemocracy, masterminded the blocking of Emmanuel TV channel on YouTube, reports have shown.

And Pastor T.B. Joshua’s claim that he could cure gays and lesbians of their s.e.xual orientation was what provoked the group to file a complaint to YouTube, accusing him of propagating hatred.

UK-based openDemocracy filed a complaint after reviewing seven videos posted on TB Joshua Ministries’ YouTube channel between 2016 and 2020, which show the preacher conducting prayers to “cure” gay people.

One of the videos is an update of a prayer session of a woman called Okoye, first broadcast in 2018.

In it TB Joshua slaps and pushes Okoye and an unnamed woman at least 16 times and tells Okoye: “There is a spirit disturbing you. She has transplanted herself into you. It is the spirit of woman,” openDemocracy reports.

The video which was viewed more than 1.5 million before the YouTube channel was taken down, later shows her testifying before the congregation that “the spirit of woman” had been destroying her life but she had been healed after the preacher’s prayers.

She declares that she had stopped having “affection” to women and “now I have affections for men”.

A YouTube spokesperson told openDemocracy that the channel had been closed because its policy “prohibits content which alleges that someone is mentally ill, diseased, or inferior because of their membership in a protected group including s.e.xual orientation”.

The preacher said he was appealing against YouTube’s decision.

A post on TB Joshua Ministries Facebook account said: “We have had a long and fruitful relationship with YouTube and believe this decision was made in haste.”

According to BBC, Facebook has also removed at least one of the offending posts showing a woman being slapped while TB Joshua says he is casting out a “demonic spirit”.

His YouTube account had 1.8 million subscribers.

Anthony Ikpeama in custody over pregnant wife’s death – Police

The Police in Lagos says Anthony Ikpeama, a man accused of killing his wife, Adaeze, is still in custody.

Anthony allegedly murdered his 28-year-old pregnant spouse, a Barrister, while on admission bed at Doyen Hospital in Ajah.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement confirmed the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for investigation.

“The suspect has not been released. It is a capital offence and the police will not grant him an administrative bail for whatever reason.”

The spokesman assured that the command will do justice to the case which sparked outrage.

In his first statement, Adejobi said Adaeze died on April 10 after she was admitted for pregnancy-related complications.

“The suspect still went to the hospital to remove the oxygen mask on her, before she finally gave up the ghost.”

“Anthony Ikpeama, who had been alleged of constantly assaulting the deceased has been arrested”, he noted.

Anthony allegedly beat Adaeze to a coma at their Lagos residence last Saturday. Neighbours, who had witnessed previous assaults, rushed her to the hospital, where she was placed on oxygen.

The husband fled but the Police apprehended him after a manhunt. The couple got married in 2014 and have two kids.

I get more respect as a married woman –Tayo Sobola

Actress, Tayo Sobola, aka Sotayo Gaga, has said that as a married woman, there is a limit to how intimate she can get with fellow actors on set.

Sobola, who was recently bestowed with the title of Sarauniya (Queen Mother) of Uke Kingdom in Nasarawa State, told Saturday Beats, “Even before I got married, I was selective about the kind of roles I portrayed as an actor.

My husband is quite understanding and he knew I was a filmmaker before we got married.

However, as a respected wife, I would not play any role that my husband won’t be happy with, such as being too intimate with the opposite s.e.x.”

Describing her experience in marriage so far as ‘sweet’, Sobola said, “It has been a sweet experience since the day we started dating till now that we are a married couple. Obviously, there will be ups and downs, just like in any relationship, but we are mature enough to handle things.”

On what lifestyle changes she has had to adopt as a married woman, Sotayo said, “I had known my husband for about seven years before we got married and I am still the same person. I usually call myself the ‘lane minder’. The most important thing is that being married attracts a lot more respect than when I was single. It is a phase in life and we are flowing gradually with it.”

Revealing how her new title of Sarauniya came about, the actress said, “I believe the palace saw some qualities in me and deemed it fit to give me the title. According to the Emir of Uke Kingdom, his father’s twin sister was the first person to be bestowed with that title and since her demise, no one has been given that honour. I am more or less a role model to women in that community.”

Sobola also emphatically stated that she did not have to engage in any fetish practice before she was bestowed with the title. She added, “That is wrong to say. I am a religious person who does not joke with prayers. I would not dabble into anything that would rob me of (a good relationship with) my creator.”

AKA’s fiancée: Nellie Tembe’s father says daughter did not commit suicide

Moses Tembe, the father of AKA‘s fiancée has negated the reports that his daughter, Anele “Nelli” Tembe, committed suicide.

Moses made this known at Anele’s funeral which took place at the Durban International Conference Centre on Friday. The service was also live streamed on YouTube.

An emotionally-charged letter from Moses was read out by businessman Sandile Zungu, who said the letter was a reflection of a “heartbroken father”.

“I wasn’t there when Anele met her fate last Sunday. I neither seek to attack any person nor cast aspersions or suspicions nor stigmatise any mental condition. However, I can’t allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged. A narrative that irks me no end as a father, which maliciously pervades some circles, is that Anele, my daughter, was chronically suicidal or had suicidal tendencies,” he wrote.

“All I can say is that until she turned 21, Anele wouldn’t consider taking her own life as a solution. Not a single member of my family, Anele’s family, would have ever associated Anele with suicide. Anele loved herself so much. She wanted to live more rather than less.”

Moses also spoke on dealing with what he termed a “scourge” of substance abuse “that bedevils our youth”: “Ladies and gentlemen, we need to understand the forces that put us in a situation that we find ourselves. Of course, we must as a matter of extreme priority, deal with the scourge that bedevils our youth. Alcohol which is overused, and drugs, especially if we envision our youth contributing meaningfully to our nation-building and economic development efforts. Fellow South Africans, we had better wake up and smell the coffee. We have a serious problem with substance abuse and add to that other social ills, and we are in a crisis.”

22-year-old Tembe died after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Central Cape Town on Sunday, April 11, 2021. By afternoon, the family of Anele and AKA, confirmed the death in a joint statement which said that both families were still in “shock and dealing with our emotions”.

Parents of abducted Kaduna students ignore El-Rufai, begins talks with bandits

Parents of the abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna, have resolved to employ all possible ways towards the release of their abducted children not minding the position of Governor Nasir El-Rufai on the matter.

Spokesman of the parents, Mr Friday Sani, while addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Friday, said, “It is better for us, the affected parents to be arrested than not to allow us negotiate for the release of our children, who are in conditions that are unknown to us.

“As we are talking to you, we (affected parents) are already under arrest because some of us, since the abduction of our children cannot sleep, eat and above all, we have developed psychological problems that are far beyond any other consequence of our planned action for negotiation.”

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has continued to insist that he would not negotiate with bandits and has vowed to prosecute anyone who does that.

He added, “For 36 days since the abduction of our children, we have been arrested emotionally. We want to let the government know that we are not afraid of arrest of any kind. If our children can be released today and are in their houses and l am detained, l think, l will be one of the happiest persons on earth.”

The parents lamented that their children are faced with guns and threats to life, stressing that there is no way they would remain silent when their children are going through such traumatic experiences and the authority wants them to keep quite without saying anything or seeking the release of their children.

The parents noted that with the released of just 10 students, the government appears to be satisfied, appealing to the security agencies to expedite action to ensure the release of their children.

The spokesman pleaded, “We are appealing to the government and security agencies to have mercy on us, the parents, to do whatever they can do to ensure they release our children from the hands of their abductors.”

He explained that the bandits have started calling individual parents to pay ransom to have their children released.

He called on individuals, private and public organisations to please come to their aid with financial assistance to help them rescue their children from the bandits so that they will continue their normal lives again.

“The bandits are threatening us the parents everyday with calls that they will kill our children or marry the girls if no ransom is paid for their release.”

Queen orders Harry and William to walk apart behind Prince Philip's coffin

William and Harry will not walk shoulder to shoulder behind their grandfather's coffin when he is laid to rest tomorrow.

The estranged brothers are both in the small party of close family members who will follow the Duke of Edinburgh's body.

But they will be separated by their cousin, Peter Phillips. And when the coffin is carried into St George's Chapel in Windsor, William will move ahead of his younger brother as they take their seats separately.

The extraordinary turn of events will be seen by some as a missed opportunity to show family unity in the wake of Prince Philip's death. Others questioned whether the princes were being kept apart deliberately at their own request.

But a Buckingham Palace spokesman said: 'This is a funeral [and] we will not be drawn into those perceptions of drama. The arrangements have been agreed and reflect Her Majesty's wishes.'

It came as details of Philip's royal ceremonial funeral, which will take place at 3pm tomorrow, were publicly released. These included:

The Queen will wear a mask, sit socially-distanced from her family and follow the coffin of her husband of 73 years in the state Bentley;

The 30-strong congregation comprises of all of Philip's children and grandchildren, their spouses and close relatives including Princess Margaret's son the Earl of Snowdon;

The only non-family member of the group is his close friend and carriage driving companion Countess Mountbatten of Burma, Penny Knatchbull;

Other royals including the Duchess of Kent have not been invited after Covid rules meant a 1,000-name list was whittled down;

The Land Rover hearse specially designed by the duke to carry his coffin was unveiled.

William and Harry, 36, were last seen in public together at a Commonwealth Day service in March last year where they could barely look each other in the eye following Harry and Meghan's acrimonious split from the Royal Family.

Relations were further soured by the couple's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, in which they attacked senior royals while Philip, who died on Friday aged 99, lay in hospital.

It had been quietly hoped that the loss of their beloved grandfather, who both men loved deeply, might start the process of rapprochement.

Tomorrow is likely to be particularly difficult for the brothers as it will evoke memories of having to walk behind their mother's coffin when they were just 15 and 13.

But today royal biographer Hugo Vickers said that Peter Phillips, Philip's eldest grandson, may have been deliberately chosen to help his two younger cousins find a way forward with their relationship, which has become badly strained in the past year.

He said: 'Peter Philips was incredibly good with the boys when Diana died, so I think it will be very good for them. Sometimes I think that when people behave very well in public, which I think they will do, they find it easier to behave better in private. Prince Philip and the Queen were conciliators all their life so I'm sure that is what he would have wanted'.

Roma defender Smalling robbed at gunpoint while at home with family

Chris Smalling and his family were robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of Friday morning as armed men entered his home just outside Rome and stole watches, jewellery and cash.

The Roma defender missed his side's Europa League quarter-final tie against Ajax on Thursday as he was recovering from knee discomfort.

According to Italian news agency Ansa, three men entered the home in the Appia area just outside of the capital after removing a grating from the window of the player's bedroom.

They then forced him to open the safe at gunpoint, taking away three Rolex watches, jewellery and around 300 euros in cash.

Smalling's family members were also present during the robbery, with his wife calling the police at around 5am.

The police are now examining video surveillance cameras to shed light on what happened.

Smalling and Roma have not commented but former Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford tweeted his support.
