He said: “We want to inform oil marketing companies that NNPC will not increase the pump price of PMS in May.
“I am giving the assurance and I ask Nigerians to go about their normal businesses; we have over 20 billion litres of petrol in our custody.
“Many of you are aware of this and with the assurance with tanker drivers and NUPENG, there is no need for panic buying of the product.
“Petrol will be available in all the depots in the country including NNPC dispatched depot across the country, so nobody should panic in buying the product,” he said.

The announcement of the Super Eagles captain as Pillars’ new signing elicited excitement among fans of the domestic league, but Punch correspondent learnt that the former Leicester City forward told the club’s management in clear terms that he would not be available for away games.
Chairman of the club Surajo Yahaya confirmed that although the player would be available for every home fixture, he would not be part of most of their away games.
“Ahmed Musa is a big player and at the moment we know the economic situation of the country and the bad roads in some regions. He is going to honour all our home matches and if there is an available flight in the state we have an away game, then he is going to attend,” Yahaya told The Punch.
“He did not say that he’s totally going to be unavailable for our games on the road, but he is going to attend those matches by flight, but for the games that are close by, like a game at Katsina or Bauchi, he is ready to go. But we need to provide good facilities for him,” Yahaya added.
With the revelation, Musa is expected to make his debut for Pillars on May 5, when the Sai Masu Gida welcome Enyimba. He’ll miss the team’s next two games against Warri Wolves and Plateau United.

He was arrested by the Rachakonda Cybercrime Police in Hyderabad, India.
Opara was said to have come to India on medical visa for surgery after which he married a Karnataka lady and later joined as a part-time football coach in New Delhi.
According to the police, Opara introduced his friends to another Nigerian national, Cheema Frank and another Indian friend, Mughashe Yeptho, who committed online gift, job fraud, loan fraud, among others.

Superstar Beyonce's fans are convinced she's edited her latest Instagram offering after they pointed out some warped-looking stairs in the background.
The 39-year-old singer has been very active on her social media page in recent days, which her 172 million followers have been excited about.
However, some people suggested Beyonce's latest snap had been altered ever so slightly, as the stairs to the right of her tiny waist appeared to look manipulated, suggesting she has cinched in her physique.
In the comments section, one person wrote: "Those look like stairs in some type of stadium....."
Another asked: "How do you make a phone selfie look like it was taken by a professional cameraman?" suggesting she had tweaked the stunning image.
And another put it down to her lighting and angles, adding: "All you need is good lighting and shoot with the main camera preferably a new model iPhone like the 12 pro or a galaxy s21 ultra and you'll get the same results."
But a third person defended the star, writing: "You have to be Beyonce."
And other fans of the songstress were begging her to upload some more glamorous snaps to continue with her Instagram spree, with one asking: "Where's the rest of the pics?!"
Two nurses were confirmed dead on Sunday, while 10 others sustained injuries in a lone auto crash involving a Toyota Hiace bus around Akinale Village on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, a spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident.
He explained that the crash, which occurred at 9:20 a.m., was caused by speeding and using a mobile phone by the driver.
He noted that 18 people were involved in the crash, which comprised one male and 17 female nurses.
“One of the survivors said the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus, marked OG 49A 07, who was speeding and as well using his cellphone while driving around a bend, lost control and somersaulted several times.
“The occupants in the bus were nurses who were all heading to a party to honour a matron in one of the hospitals in Abeokuta,” he said.
Mr Akinbiyi explained that the injured were evacuated to Hope Hospital, Adigbe, Abeokuta, while the two corpses were deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaye in Abeokuta.
The TRACE spokesman urged motorists to avoid speeding, especially during the rainy season, and not to use a mobile phone while driving.
Israel ended its outdoor mask mandate Sunday, now that about 80 percent of its adult population has received both doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine, reports said.
“Being without a mask for the first time in a long time feels weird. But it’s a very good weird,” Amitai Hallgarten, 19, told Reuters.
“If I need to be masked indoors to finish with this, I’ll do everything I can.”
At the start of the pandemic last year, Israel required residents to wear face coverings while they were outside as long as they weren’t exercising. But now that close to 5 million people in Israel have received the two-dose vaccine, health officials are starting to ease restrictions, Reuters reported.
“The rate of infection in Israel is very low thanks to the successful vaccine campaign in Israel, and therefore it is possible to ease [restrictions],” Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said in a statement.
In January, Israel was grappling with about 10,000 new infections a day but amid a surge of vaccinations, that number has dropped to about 200 daily and hospitalizations and deaths are nearly non-existent, France 24 reports.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have also be quoted as saying; “We are leading the world right now when it comes to emerging from the coronavirus.”
Though he endorsed the Western Nigeria Security Network (Operation Amotekun), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the regional security outfit is useless to Lagosians.
Amotekun was established on January 9, 2020, by the six South-West states. All except Lagos had inaugurated the security outfit.
Sanwo-Olu, while speaking on Channels TV on Sunday evening, argued that the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) already performs the security functions of Amotekun.
“So it’s just a name change in the case of Lagos. I appreciate what my colleague governors are doing, and they also appreciate the peculiar nature of Lagos,” Mr Sanwo-Olu stated. “I have got over 7,000 neighbourhood watch personnel in Lagos, who are doing exactly the same thing that we have Amotekun doing.”
The LNSC is a uniformed security agency established by a law of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2016 to assist the police and other security agencies in maintaining law and order in the state. Its officers operate in the 57 LGA and LCDA in Lagos.
According to the Lagos government, the LNSC officers are locals from the various LGA and LCDA where they operate, a deliberate policy to use their local knowledge to achieve “maximum grass root” intelligence gathering and community policing.
Mr Sanwo-Olu added, “They are there at the border post giving us daily monitoring in their localities and feeding it back to the central. They are the ones feeding us with information. But they cannot carry arms and prosecute people.”
Apart from community policing, the governor explained that the LNSC also engaged in border patrol.
“The borders that I have in Lagos are outside of the Atlantic Ocean is Ogun state,” he said.
The origin of the LNSC can be traced to the military administration of Brigadier Buba Marwa, who, on October 20, 1996, established Neighbourhood Watch outfits by edict Number 12 and published in the official gazette No 34 Vol. 29 (October 29, 1996), according to information on the Lagos government’s website.
The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency said, on its website, that the establishment of “Neighbourhood Watch” was to complement police’s efforts at the grassroots level.
It explained further that former Governors Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola provided 33 Neighbourhood Watch posts with 33 repeater and base stations, patrol vehicles, defensive gadgets, and training during their tenures.
In September 2016, then-Governor Akinwunmi Ambode enacted and gazetted the law to establish the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency to “transform the unit into a full-fledged agency.”
