We Didn't Endorse Buhari, Some Impostors Did That — Afenifere

A pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, has disowned the reported endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office by some of its members, stating that it was done by impostors.

The group denounced the purported endorsement in Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Tuesday, saying those involved in the act, including Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Chief Ayo Fasanmi and Senator Olabiyi Durojaye, were not Afenifere members.

The organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, in a statement, described those involved in the ceremony as historical renegades.

He said, “We ordinarily would not respond to a gathering of historical renegades but for the sake of the unwary who may have been confused by the nefarious action of these impostors.

“We say without equivocation that minus Senator Ayo Fasanmi, who had a past connection with Afenifere till 2003 and Senator Olabiyi Durojaye, who is presently an employee of Buhari, all the others at the summit including Prof Yemi Osinbajo have never been known in Afenifere.

“If these are Afenifere, they would never have gathered for Buhari’s endorsement in any part of Yorubaland on a day the Nigerian Tribune, the legacy of Obafemi Awolowo who is the founder of Afenifere, was being relaunched.”

Odumakin accused Osinbajo of showing disdain for Awolowo’s legacy by being absent from the late sage’s remembrance activities for over three decades, despite being married to Awolowo’s grand-daughter.

He added, “The godfather of this fake group is, of course, Bola Tinubu who was made governor by Afenifere in 1999 when his real character was not known.

“We tell the Tinubu followers that we don’t deny them the right to support Buhari. If they call themselves South-West Miyetti Allah, it worries us not. They should only stop the fraudulent claim to Afenifere.”

How Businessman Hide Tramadol Inside Garri

A yet-to-be identified Onitsha-based businessman has allegedly abandoned a substance suspected to be tramadol concealed in bags of garri.

The owner ran away on sighting officers of the agency.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control said the substance was concealed in five bags of the staple.

The Director General, NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, stated this at the inauguration of the NAFDAC-Young Against Drug Abuse Awareness campaign and stakeholders’ meeting in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday.

Represented by the State Coordinator, NAFDAC, Mrs Christiana Esenwah, Adeyeye who spoke on the topic: ‘Abuse of psychoactive drugs in Nigeria: Our Problem’, expressed concern over the increasing rate of drug abuse among youths, especially in the North-West.

“It is estimated that 70 per cent of the boys in Kano are on drugs, while a lot of young girls and women of childbearing age abuse drugs in order to overcome frustration,” Adeyeye stated.

Rich Woman Who Just Returned From London Killed By Her Hotel Staff In Lagos

The owner of Etashol Hotel and Suites, located on Budland Street in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos, Mrs Abimbola Olusola, and the hotel manager, Tunji Omikunle, have been murdered.

The deceased were reportedly drugged, tied up and strangled by a gang that included some workers at the hotel.

Olusola, who had lived in London, the United Kingdom, for 35 years, was said to have returned to Nigeria recently and opened the hotel for business in March 2018.

It was learnt that the 56-year-old had issues with some of the workers, who allegedly defrauded the hotel of millions of naira.

Two of the workers were reportedly sacked after the police were invited to look into the matter.

Last week Thursday, a gang said to have consisted some of the sacked workers and some still in the employment of the hotel, allegedly conspired among themselves and drugged Olusola and Tunji.

They allegedly deactivated the Closed Circuit Television cameras on the premises, dragged the manager into a toilet, where his hands and feet were tied.

The Punch learnt that Tunji was strangled, after which the suspects proceeded to Olusola’s room and strangled her too.

Relatives of the deceased told our correspondent that the suspects fled the hotel, as family members met the lifeless bodies of the victims in the hotel.

The case was reported at the Ojodu Abiodun Police Station.

A family member of the late businesswoman, who asked not to be named, said Olusola was planning to lease out the hotel and return to London when tragedy struck.

She said, “The incident happened on Thursday night cum Friday morning. I was called that my sister had been murdered by the boys working for her in the hotel.

“From what I learnt, the manager had dragged one of them, called Light, to a police station for involvement in fraud in the hotel. There were also cases of stealing involving these guys. Two of them were sacked.

“On Thursday night, the men tied Tunji’s hands and feet and strangled him. I think it was after they had killed Tunji that they got access to the card that opens my sister’s room. They went to her bed, tied her up and strangled her.”

It was learnt that the woman’s 12-year-old son, who was to go to school on Friday morning, was the first to discover the mother’s corpse.

Around 7am when the school bus came to pick him, a vigilante member, who had tried unsuccessfully to reach the deceased businesswoman on the telephone, insisted on knowing her whereabouts from the son.

The boy was said to have found her dead on the bed in her room.

The family member added, “The child sleeps in a room in the hotel. Tunji used to wake him up and prepare him for school. But when the boy did not see the manager that morning and his school bus had arrived, he quickly got himself ready and ran out.

“However, a vigilante member, who had suspected that something was amiss after noticing some of the workers’ movements the previous night, waited at the hotel’s gate. The man had called both Tunji and the woman on their phones without getting any response.

“When the boy was hurrying to school that morning, the man said he should go and call the manager. The boy went inside and returned, saying he could not find the manager. He was hurrying to get into the school bus when the man said he should go and call his mother.

“He went to her room and raised the alarm after discovering her corpse.”

It was learnt that Olusola, who hailed from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, had separated from her husband.

Tunji’s uncle, Chief Tunde Omikunle, said the deceased was survived by his wife and twin children.

Tunde said, “He grew up with me before learning fashion designing. And when he was done, the family got a shop for him; he even had apprentices until last year when he said he had been employed as a manager in the hotel.

“His wife, a graduate, had just been delivered of a set of twins. She stays in Ibadan. In fact, he wanted to go to meet his family in Ibadan when his boss asked him to wait. It was that night that he and the boss were killed.

“From what we know, two of the sacked workers conspired with those still there to carry out the act. They drugged him and took him to a toilet, where he was strangled. Although they destroyed the CCTV in the hotel in order to cover their tracks, we still got to know that they were responsible for the killings.”

The Punch learnt that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, where one of the workers was being interrogated.

A source said the police had recovered the ropes used to commit the crime.

“There was no stab wound or anything on the corpses. The victims were strangled. We recovered the ropes used to commit the crime,” the source said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Obasanjo: Atiku Will Be President For All, He's Better Than Buhari

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar will be a president for all Nigerians unlike the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. He also said that as a president, he never embarked on a 104-day medical vacation.

He added that the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, was a better leader than Buhari.

Obasanjo, while taking a swipe at those who said he did not trust Atiku during his tenure, said no Nigerian vice-president acted in the stead of his principal more than the PDP candidate.

He spoke on Wednesday at the Lagos Island Club Quarterly Business Lecture, where he was a guest speaker. Atiku also delivered an address at the event.

The former President said Atiku presided over several Federal Executive Council meetings during his administration from 1999 to 2007.

Obasanjo said many did not notice because he was not like Buhari who went on medical vacation for 104 days and appointed “Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as acting President.”

He said, “One of the most ridiculous claims I have heard on these issues is that I did not give Atiku chance to preside over the Federal Executive Council because I did not trust him.

“That is not correct because he had occasions to preside on a few times that I was out of the country. On those occasions he was in charge of the Federal Executive Council meetings and no Nigerian chief executive has devolved power to his deputy as much as I did to Atiku.

“I did not need to designate him acting President because the constitution is clear; once the President is not available, the vice-president automatically acts with full powers.

“But since I was not absent from home for 104 days at a time, people may not know that Atiku actually stood in for me whenever I was out (of the country).

“You have a man who has what it takes in experience, exposure, lessons that he has learnt and he has learnt his lessons. You have a man who has what it takes at this time for us to have a change and we need a change for the better.”

Obasanjo added that the country was divided because Buhari said only those who voted for him would enjoy government’s patronage.

The former President noted that the difference between Atiku and the incumbent President would be that the former vice-president would be president for all Nigerians and not just for those who voted for him alone.

“Atiku has done one thing which is necessary for a leader to be believed or followed. He made mistakes and accepted his mistakes and asked for forgiveness. I forgave and I am sure Nigerians will do their part by voting for him. A leader should be susceptible to mistakes. When you have corruption under your nose and you are busy preaching against corruption. Atiku had not claimed to be a saint and I did not describe him as such. He has accepted his mistakes and that is what a good leader should do and not look for someone to pass the bulk to.

“I have been called names because of my position on Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri Adamawa. Everything I have said as far as I have knowledge of Atiku, I have not retracted and I stand firmly by them because they are to the best of my knowledge true. And neither has what I have said and written about Buhari been controverted. If anything, they have been confirmed and proved beyond any shadow of doubt.

“But Atiku has done three things which are absolutely imperative for a leader. First, know who you are and present yourself as you are – a human being in blood and flesh and susceptible to human mistakes and human frailties. Don’t cover up with sanctimonious veneer of bogus integrity, goodness and false figures and statistics, all of which are contrived to deceive and to destroy,” he added.

Atiku, while criticising Buhari for the suspension of the President of the National Judicial Council, Justice Walter Onnoghen, promised to resolve the economic challenges of the country.

He lamented that more than 21 million Nigerians, mostly youths, were without jobs, blaming the problem on the present government.

Atiku said, “The lesson we all learn from the success stories of countries such as South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and People’s Republic of China is that economic development does not happen by accident. Their experience teaches that to be successful, economic reforms require a progressive and forward-looking government that has the capacity to craft a coherent vision and to develop coherent policies that will actualise its vision.

“I have faith in the capacity of Nigeria to make a quantum leap from third world to first. We have the human and material resources required to make the leap.”

Shock As Man Is Cauht With His Sister, Brother's Wife Pants

The Ondo State Police Command, on Wednesday, arrested a man, Adojoh Ojonugwa, for allegedly stealing his brother wife’s pants in Akure.

The suspect was arrested along with a pastor, Olajide Ogunleye, who was also alleged to be involved in the crime.

Five ladies’ pants were found inside Ojonugwa’s bag, two of which reportedly belonged to his brother’s wife, while his sister owned the others.

The 35-year-old Kogi State indigene was alleged to be planning to use the pants for money-making rituals.

It was gathered that when the brother’s wife discovered that her pants had been stolen by the suspect, she reported the matter at the police station, after which Ojonugwa was arrested.

Parading the suspect at the command’s headquarters in Akure, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, said Ojonugwa, in connivance with Ogunleye, stole the pants in a bid to use them for money rituals.

He said both suspects had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court after the completion of police investigation.

Ojonugwa, while speaking to journalists, confessed to the crime, adding that he was instructed by his pastor, Ogunleye, to bring women’s pants to be used to prepare a portion for good fortune and favour.

He said, “When things were difficult for me, I approached the pastor to help me out spiritually and he first gave me something like seeds to swallow and then asked me to go and bring women’s pants as ingredients for money rituals.

“I obeyed the pastor because immediately after I swallowed the thing he gave me, I could no longer disobey him; I could not even ask him what he wanted to do with the female pants that he asked me to bring. All I knew was that I went to my brother’s house and stole his wife’s pants and those of my sister.”

Ogunleye, however, denied the allegation, saying he was set up by Ojonugwa and his brother.

Ogunleye, who claimed to be a pastor at a Celestial Church of Christ in Uso in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, admitted to helping people to solve their problems spiritually but insisted that he never met Ojonugwa.

He stated, “I don’t know him; I never set my eyes on him before now; he and his brother are just lying against me; it was his brother that I know. He wanted to buy a piece of land from me but I refused to sell the land to him, because he wanted to use the land to plant cannabis.

“I was surprised to be arrested by the police for a matter I know nothing about. It was a frame-up by his brother, because I refused to sell the land to him.”

Why Buhari Didn't Ask People To Vote APC Candidates In Imo

The Presidency on Wednesday gave reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari did not seek support for the All Progressives Congress candidates during the party’s rally held in Owerri, Imo State, on Tuesday.

It said the President addressed a mixed crowd of voters across political parties, who were united in endorsing his re-election, despite having their local candidates for other positions.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, while speaking to journalists, explained that in such a mixed crowd, the President could not speak of support for the APC candidates alone but must talk about all the parties.

Shehu noted that this did not mean that the President did not want the APC candidates to win elections in Imo State, saying that Buhari was solidly behind his party’s candidates.

“The massive crowd that gathered to welcome President Buhari in Imo State was made up of not only supporters of the APC in the state, but also supporters of other parties who are united by their love for the President and their desire to see him re-elected, despite the local candidates they support,” Shehu told reporters.

The Presidency added that in the circumstances he found himself in Imo, the President could only advise the people who turned out to receive him to vote according to their conscience.

“While President Buhari is fully behind the APC, he welcomes endorsements from those who do not belong to the ruling party but is also sensitive to their support for non-APC candidates at the local level.

“It would have been insensitive of him to offend his non-APC supporters by ignoring their local affiliations,” Shehu stated.

He said by raising the hand of Senator Hope Uzodinma, the APC governorship candidate in Imo State, at the rally, Buhari had shown where his preference was and this did not call for a debate.

Shehu added, “President Buhari is for the APC in every state and there is no doubt about that, despite the immense cross-party support he is enjoying.”

Recall that while addressing the rally, Buhari did not mince word in urging the crowd to “vote for candidates of your choice across parties” to the chagrin of the APC members.

The people reacted by cheering and clapping for the President.

Governor Rochas Okorocha, who does not support Uzodinma’s governorship bid, joined in the cheering.

When the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, realised the President’s error, he was seen trying to whisper to Buhari to make a correction.

The President then responded by telling the crowd again to vote for the APC candidates.

There is a big crack in the Imo APC, threatening its electoral fortunes next month.

While Okorocha wanted his son in-law, Uche Nwosu, to be the APC governorship candidate, the National Working Committee of the party endorsed the primaries conducted by the Uzodinma faction.

In December 2018, Nwosu, with the support of Okorocha, defected to the Action Alliance and became the party’s governorship candidate.

However, both the Okorocha group and the Uzodinma faction said they would vote for Buhari on February 16.

If You Go To This Town, Live, Have A Family... they'll give you N3.6m

An Italian town with a dwindling population is offering new residents $10,000 (about N3.6 million) to relocate and have a baby.

The mayor of Locana in the north west of Italy is offering the cash in order to attract more families back to the shrinking community.

Anyone wanting to relocate to the picturesque Alpine commune in the mountainous Piedmont region could be paid up to $10,000 (€9,000) over three years to make Locana their home.

Giovanni Bruno Mattiet, Locana's mayor, has made the offer in the hope of reversing the exodus of residents leaving the beleaguered hamlet and save the community from dying out.

He first appealed to Italians or foreigners already living in Italy but after a disappointing response is now extending it to non-Italians living abroad as well.

As the number of young couples and children has decreased, the community has seen shops, restaurants and amenities shut and its only school is facing closure.

In the early 1900s over 7,000 residents lived in Locana, but that figure has shrunk to less than 1,500 today.

Last year there were 40 deaths in the town but just 10 births, with a similar ratio in previous years.

Another Piedmont town also trying to draw in new residents is offering to give $1,144 (€1,000) to anyone who has a baby there, and another $2,288 (€2,000) to anyone willing to start and register a business.

Sambuca, which was named Italy's most beautiful village in 2016, has been suffering from depopulation, with several homes in the village left empty.

Locana mayor, Mr Mattiet, told CNN: 'People left looking for a job at Turin's big factories. Our school each year faces the risk of shutting down due to few pupils. I can't allow this to happen.

'We're looking to draw mostly young people and professionals who work remotely or are willing to start an activity here.

'There are dozens of closed shops, bars, restaurants and boutiques just waiting for new people to run them. Locana offers a healthy lifestyle, great food and folklore fairs all-year round.'

Jailed MP Faces Having Her Sentence Extended

Jailed Labour MP Fiona Onasanya could have her sentence increased after members of the public complained that it was too soft.

The ex-solicitor, who has been kicked out of Labour, was locked up for three months for perverting the course of justice after lying over a speeding ticket.

But the jail term is now being reviewed by Attorney General Geoffrey Cox, the Government’s chief law officer, under an unduly lenient sentencing scheme.

Within 24 hours of Onasanya’s jailing on Tuesday, his office received at least 20 complaints from members of the public who felt it wasn’t long enough.

If Mr Cox believes she should have been locked up for longer, he can refer the case to the Court of Appeal to be looked at again. His spokesman said last night: ‘We have received a request for the case of Fiona Onasanya to be considered. Law officers have 28 days from sentencing to consider the case.’

At the Old Bailey on Tuesday, Mr Justice Stuart-Smith said the sentence of the Peterborough MP was the ‘shortest I feel able to impose’. He added: ‘I make plain I will not treat you more severely because of your position as an MP and former solicitor.

‘There cannot be one law for those in positions of power, privilege and responsibility and another for those who are not.’

John Legend Shares Video Of Self Learning To Swim

On Monday he revealed on Twitter that he had been taking swim lessons for the first time since he was a child.

And on Wednesday John Legend took to his Instagram stories to share a video of himself in a small outdoor pool having his second session.

It showed him pushing off from the side and reaching out with his arms as he kicked.

The crooner managed to reach the other side of the pool in just one breath, probably thanks to his great lung capacity developed during his singing career.

The 40-year-old didn't say anything during the video, but he wrote 'swim lesson #2' on the video and credited @kidswimla.

On Monday John revealed: 'I can't really swim. Today I took my first swim lesson since I was like 5. My dad learned in his 60's so I feel like I'm ahead of schedule.'

25-Year-Old Panel Beater Steals Brother's Wife's Pants In Ondo [Photo]

Adejoh Ojonugwa, a 25-year-old panel beater, has been arrested in Ondo State for stealing underwear belonging to his elder brother's wife.

Ojonugwa was apprehended by officers of Ondo State Police Command after the case was reported.

The suspect was nabbed alongside one Prophet Olajide Ogunleye of the Celestial Church of Christ, Ibanujemidopin Parish in Uso Local Council Area of the state.

SaharaReporters gathered that the 53-year-old prophet is well-known in the state.

During interrogation with reporters, Ojonugwa, a native of Kogi State, said he only visited the prophet for spiritual cleansing as he needed a solution to his problem.

Narrating his side of the story, he said: "I went to seek spiritual cleansing from Prophet Ogunleye and when I got there, he prayed fervently for me. In fact, he asked me about the job I do, and I told him that I am a panel beater, which has been my trade for a very long time.

"Later, he asked me to open my hand, and he dropped something on it for me to swallow, which I did. After I swallowed it, he prayed for me and I left his place. But when I got home, I became unconscious. Later, I began to look for my brother's wife underwear and I took them to the Prophet for some ritual purposes. Sadly, hours later, my brother's wife raised the alarm that her underwear garments were missing and I was arrested.

"When the Police arrested me, I was taken to Uso Police Station before they transferred me here to Akure. Two of the items belong to my brother's wife and three belong to my younger sister.”

The Prophet, however, denied the allegation, stating that he was only being implicated by the suspect.

His words: "I am a true man of God and I have never seen the boy (Ojonugwa) in my life. He is just lying against me. The truth of this matter is that they came to me for a parcel of land and I refused to give them. I never asked him to bring any underwear for rituals. So, they feel it is an opportunity to implicate me in this crime since I had refused to give them the land to cultivate Indian hemp.

"Though, I engage in some spiritual cleansing for people, mostly pregnant women who have difficulties so they can give birth early and easily, I don't engage in rituals as it is against the belief of our church. I only see the allegation as pure lies against me.”

Visibly angry, the elder brother of the suspect, Benjamin Ojonugwa, said his younger brother had always wanted to have money “by all means, even through rituals".

"He is my own younger brother and has always been in haste to have money through any means, but I just thank God that he was exposed. He stole my wife’s underwear, and wanted to use it for ritual purpose, so that he will have more money than me,” he said.

Grace Ojonugwa, the victim, confirmed that the suspect stole her underwear from where she spread it to dry in the house.

"It was my husband's younger brother that stole the pants. He was actually trailing me to spread it and when I discovered that the pants were missing, I knew he stole it," she said

Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, said the suspect and the Prophet were arrested last week by the Police.

Joseph, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the cases of "stolen female underwear" were now becoming a trend and advised ladieas to be on their guard.

"We have to guard whatever we are putting on. I also advise parents to warn their children, particularly females, to be very careful where they keep their undergarments,” he said.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court soon.

Man With Three Wives R*pes Daughter In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command, on Wednesday, announced that its operatives had arrested a 45-year-old man, Idowu Owolabi, for allegedly raping his 21-year-old daughter.

Owolabi, who has three wives, was accused of having carnal knowledge of his daughter since last year.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta.

Oyeyemi said both the suspect and the victim were residents of the Papa Olosun area of Oja-Odan in the Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

The PPRO explained that Owolabi was arrested on January 28, 2019, following a complaint by the victim at the Oja-Odan Divisional Police Headquarters.

He said, “The victim reported that she followed her father to the farm at Fagboun village and the said father forcefully had carnal knowledge of her right there on the farm sometime in March 2018.

“She stated further that since then, her father had continuously been having unlawful carnal knowledge of her with a threat that he would kill her if she dared tell anybody about it.

“Upon the report, the DPO Oja-Odan, CSP Olayemi Jacob, led his detectives to the suspect’s residence, where he was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect, who was said to be married to three different women, confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.”

Obasanjo Gives 3 Reasons He Turned Around To Support Atiku’s Presidential Race

Olusegun Obasanjo, has again defended his decision to support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Obasanjo in a statement to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Lagos Island Club said he has been called several names for sticking his neck for his former deputy.

Recall Obasanjo had in the past described Atiku as a ‘shameless liar’ and said God would never forgive him if he supports his presidential bid.

He has since announced that he has forgiven Atiku after the intervention of some clerics.

THREE REASONS

In his statement, Obasanjo said he has not retracted his words on Mr Abubakar but that the presidential candidate “has done three things which are absolutely imperative for a leader to be followed and believed.”

“First, know who you are and present yourself as you are – a human being in blood and flesh and susceptible to human mistakes and human frailties. Don’t cover up with sanctimonious veneer of bogus integrity, incorruptibility, uprightness, goodness and false figures and statistics, all of which are contrived to deceive, to cheat, to plunder and to destroy.

“Atiku never claimed to be a saint and I never described him as such. I will never so describe any human being alive let alone calling him a Messiah. On an occasion in the past when I said that someone was not a Messiah, some Nigerians out of bad belle were up in arms. For me, as a Christian, the only Messiah I know and have is Jesus Christ and even then, the man aspect of Him was imperfect while the divine aspect of Him was perfectly messianic.

“Secondly, a leader must be honest to himself and to the people he serves or he wants to serve. He must identify and acknowledge his situation, mistakes, shortcomings and inadequacy; show remorse where and when he has erred, seek forgiveness and repent; and not passing the bulk or keep blaming others and fail to accept responsibility. Atiku accepts responsibility for his mistakes, shows remorse and seeks forgiveness from his political party and subsequently from Nigerians. He asks for forgiveness from me and as a believer, a Christian as such, I forgave him in accordance with the teaching and instruction of my Saviour, “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins (Matt 6:14-15 NIV). If anybody blames me for forgiving Atiku, I leave such a person with God Almighty, especially as both Christian and Islamic clerics joined Atiku to visit me to seek forgiveness. Anybody who does not forgive when forgiveness is sought with contrite heart cannot be a true believer and should not expect the forgiveness of God.

“Thirdly, as a leader, you must understand the fundamentals of the problems you have to solve and be courageous, visionary and ready to reach out sufficiently to build a credible team of experts, knowledgeable men and women, concerned and interested citizens and non-citizens to work hard and tirelessly for solutions that will benefit all Nigerians and indeed Africans and humanity. He must have ability to build a credible team, lead them, listen to them and give them enough leeway to achieve and make meaningful contribution without abdicating his responsibility. He must be accessible to them. From my personal knowledge of Atiku, he has these qualities.”

Woman Dies Hours After Giving Birth To Quintuplet

Emmanuel Ezunu, Head, Clinical Services and Training, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, has confirmed the death of a housewife who died 15 hours after she was delivered of a set of quintuplet.

Mr Ezunu who made the confirmation to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Asaba, said Chukwunonso Onyejekwe, 29, died of complications after delivery.

According to him, the deceased suffered acute respiratory failure and died after a successful Cesarean Session (CS) delivery.

Late Mrs Onyejekwe was delivered of a set of five female babies.

Mr Ezumu said that the woman was brought into the hospital as an un-booked patient, and due to her emergency condition, she was taken straight to the theatre.

“Also, when she came, we noticed that her blood pressure was so high and the condition put her in a high risk for a normal delivery.

“So, we recommended a caesarean session for safe delivery and she was moved to the theatre for an emergency CS,” he said.

According to the medical officer, the woman never knew she was carrying a set of five babies. THIS IS JUST SAD! POVERTY, BAD GOVERNANCE IS A NO NO.
