The suspect, who studied Mathematics/Computer Science at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos, was reportedly arrested after he robbed one Omolola Adesina, an agency banking operator using the Point of Sale terminal in Ijoko.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta.
Oyeyemi said the complainant told policemen that the suspect walked up to her shop and pretended to be a customer who was desirous of carrying out a transaction.
He said, “Having realised that the victim was the only person in the shop, he grabbed her on the neck and brought out a UTC knife with which he forced her to submission.
“He, thereafter, ransacked the drawer and took the available sum of N42,000 and ran out of the shop.
“The victim, after regaining her consciousness, raised the alarm, which alerted the policemen from the Agbado Division, who were on routine patrol.
The cops chased after the suspect and got him apprehended with the help of the people around.”
Oyeyemi explained that after the suspect was apprehended, it was discovered that he had earlier robbed one Abimbola Oyebolu in April and one Ibrahim Oluwadamilola in May this year.
He said the suspect inflicted varying degrees of machete cuts on the duo before he forcefully dispossessed them of their phones and money.
