Teen "kills best friend because she thought online 'millionaire' would pay her $9m"

A teenage girl allegedly murdered her 'best pal' in exchange for millions of pounds from a man she met online.

Cynthia 'CeeCee' Hoffman, 19, who had the mental age of a 12-year-old, was shot through the head and dumped in a river in Alaska, US.

Denali Brehmer, 18, allegedly killed Cynthia earlier this month after being offered $9million by online 'catfish' Darin Schilmiller.

Schilmiller, 21, convinced Brehmer that he was a millionaire, called 'Tyler', and promised her riches if she killed a person and sent him pictures as proof, it is claimed.

Prosecutors say he later tried to blackmail Brehmer into r3ping someone.

Brehmer is believed to have sent Schilmiller videos and pictures of Cynthia bound with duct tape and images of her dead body.

Two of Brehmer's friends, Kayden McIntosh, 16, and Caleb Leyland, 19, and two other teenagers have also been charged in relation to Cynthia's death.

The teens told police that they were supposed to get a cut of the reward from 'Tyler' by taking part in the plot, it is claimed.

Leyland said he expected to receive $500,000 for lending his car to Brehmer and McIntosh for the killing, according to prosecutors.

Cynthia's grieving family have revealed that she was disabled and had previously called Brehmer her 'best friend', The Sun reports.

The pair went to Service High School, in Anchorage, Alaska, together.

Brehmer is accused of tricking Cynthia into driving her and McIntosh to a waterfall, called Thunderbird Falls, on the false pretence of going hiking.

The pair allegedly led their classmate away from the path and jumped her, binding her hands, feet and mouth.

The prosecution claims that McIntosh then used Brehmer's 9mm pistol to shoot her through the back of the head, before dumping her body in a river.

Both Brehmer and McIntosh have been charged with murder, while Leyland faces a conspiracy charge.

A boy and a girl have also been charged with conspiracy.
