Kate Middleton 'was in tears at Palace' after wedding day secret was leaked

Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton was watched and enjoyed around the world, and people came together to celebrate with the happy couple and their families.

Excitement grew in the months leading up to the special day back in 2011, and fans were fascinated by every detail.

They wanted to know about the venue, the decorations, the reception, the guestlist - but of course the most interesting detail with every wedding is the bride's dress.

Like all women preparing to walk down the aisle, Kate wanted to keep the designer creating her dress a secret and did everything she could to keep the details out of the press.

But there was a leak and the name of the woman behind the dress - Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton - got out in the lead up to the big day.

Speaking on Channel 5 documentary Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers, royal expert Katie Nicholl discussed how much this upset the future Duchess of Cambridge.

She said: "Behind the scenes I think that caused tears at the Palace because Kate had done everything she could to keep the wedding dress a secret."
