This was even as the state’s inter modal transportation system moved a notch higher with the commercial launch of LAGFERRY operations, mobile app and commissioning of 14 commercial boats by the governor.
The boats which had capacity to ferry 40 to 60 passengers would commute passengers from Ikorodu, Ebute Ero, CMS, Badore, and Ikoyi to other routes.
With over 30 jetties across the state and the in-built boats with modern technology, the state government said it had provided infrastructure to boost water transportation as the commencement of commercial operations by the agency would reduce persistent gridlock on the highways.
Speaking at the launch of the commercial boats which took place at Badore Ferry Terminal, Ajah, Sanwo-Olu said that commercial motorcycle operations remained prohibited in the listed areas, assuring residents that before the end of the year the ferry boats would be increased to 30 and more than 500 buses would be injected into the state bus transport system to ease transportation problems.
The governor described the launch of the new boats as a fulfillment of his administration’s promise to provide an effective and integrated inter modal transportation system.
