Archbishop Samson Benjamin Who Protested At Chinese Embassy In Lagos Released

The presiding cleric of Resurrection Praise Chapel, Archbishop Samson Mustapha Benjamin has been released after he was arrested while protesting at the Chinese Embassy in Victoria Island, Lagos, on April 21, 2020.

He was arrested after he led a protest he described as a “one man protest against the inhumane treatment of Nigerians and Africans at large in China”.

After he was arrested, Archbishop Samson Benjamin was arraigned in court on charges of “failure to stay at home contrary to COVID-19 Regulations’ and “conduct likely to cause breach of peace”.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was subsequently granted a N1 million bail and also remanded pending fulfilment of the terms.

The popular cleric has met his bail condition and regained his freedom.
