He was arrested after he led a protest he described as a “one man protest against the inhumane treatment of Nigerians and Africans at large in China”.
After he was arrested, Archbishop Samson Benjamin was arraigned in court on charges of “failure to stay at home contrary to COVID-19 Regulations’ and “conduct likely to cause breach of peace”.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was subsequently granted a N1 million bail and also remanded pending fulfilment of the terms.
The popular cleric has met his bail condition and regained his freedom.
