Ghen Ghen! Ezekwesili Is Best Alternative To Buhari, Atiku, Tunde Bakare Says

The Serving Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has described the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, as the best alternative to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who are the foremost contenders in the February 16 presidential election.

According to the cleric, among the new crop of presidential candidates seeking to upset the status quo, Ezekwesili has unmatched attributes needed to salvage Nigeria.

This was contained in Bakare’s state of the nation address delivered during the Sunday service in his church in Ogba, Lagos.


In the address, titled, ‘The prophetic portrait of Nigeria in her latter days,’ Bakare observed that things were so bad in the country that no one, including soldiers, would be willing to lay down their lives for the country.

Analysing the frontline candidates in the forthcoming presidential contest and the choice before Nigerians, Bakare said, “We have heard the incumbent (President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress) insist that Nigeria’s current problems were created within the 16 years of the previous administrations and that, little by little, they are working to rewrite the narrative.

“On the other hand, we have heard the ‘Atikulated’ side of the contest argue that the 16 years argument is now stale news. We have seen former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi, of the Peoples Democratic Party downplay the achievements of the current government.

“We have read the so-called ‘Atiku Plan,’ spanning a competitive and open economic system, public institution reform, reduction of infrastructure deficit, economic diversification, and human capital development. We have also heard Atiku Abubakar’s promise to restructure the polity with a focus on devolution of powers.”

He added, “We have seen a new generation challenging the old order and insisting that Nigerians do not have to choose between six and half a dozen.

“We have seen Kingsley Moghalu of the Young Progressives Party project his experience in economic management at national and international levels as he promises better economic management and a geo-economic restructuring of Nigeria.

“Meanwhile, Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria has eloquently promised a new Nigeria where the cost of living is reduced, power, security and health care are guaranteed, jobs are created, and law and order are maintained.”

He went further to review the performance of Omoyele Sowore, saying, “We have seen the likes of Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress criss-cross the nation, mobilising the young, especially students, in his drive to take our country back.

“However, of the new breed seeking to disrupt the political space, none gives me as much hope for the near future as does my sister, Obiageli ‘Oby’ Ezekwesili, of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria.”

Bakare identified attributes which, he said, placed Ezekwesili ahead of others as “her brilliance, experience, sacrificial service to our nation, antecedents at championing and executing pro-people and pro-good governance reforms, compassionate yet dogged belief in the Nigerian potential, and her faith in the God-ordained plan for Nigeria.”

The cleric added, “I salute her for jumping into the fray despite her seemingly limited chances and as I have said to her in times past, come what may, one day, and that day will come soon, we will fix this nation. One thing is very clear in my mind: with her candidacy, no Nigerian can reasonably say after the election that there was no credible alternative to the status quo in 2019.”

Man Kills 4 Members Of His Family With AXE, Then Attempts To Kill 8-Year Old Step-Daughter Before Police Gunned Him Down

A father was shot dead as he attempted to kill an eight-year-old girl after killing four members of his family.

Mark Leo Gregory Gago was gunned down by police officers after murdering his parents, girlfriend and their nine-month-old daughter.

Detectives revealed the 42-year-old had a large stash of weapons and swords at the home in Oregon, US, and that he did not shoot his victims.

One neighbour claimed the father had used an axe during the bloodshed but that remains unconfirmed.


The victims have been identified as Olivia Lynn Rose Gago, 9 months; Shaina E. Sweitzer, 31 years old; Jerry William Bremer and Pamela Denise Bremer, 64.

Sgt. Brian Jensen, a spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are yet to find a motive for the murders.

He said officers had used lethal force to stop Gago as he attempted to kill a child, said to be his girlfriend's eight-year-old daughter.

Two people survived the attack and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

One is believed to be a female roomate who was living at the home, while the other is the eight year old girl.

Egyptian TV Host Is Sentenced To A Year In Jail For Interviewing A Gay Man On His Show

An Egyptian TV host who interviewed a gay man on his television show to discuss homosexuality, despite previously expressing his stance against same-s*x couples, has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Mohamed al-Gheiti, who has expressed his stance against homosexuality on several occasions, was accused of promoting homosexuality and contempt of religion.

The misdemeanours court in Giza also fined him 3,000 Egyptian pounds and ordered he be put under surveillance for one year after serving his sentence, said Samir Sabri, the lawyer who brought the case against him.

The verdict can be appealed, and it can be suspended if Gheiti pays bail of 1,000 pounds pending the outcome of the appeal, said Sabri.


In August 2018, Gheiti hosted a gay man on his talk show on the private LTC TV station and discussed homosexuality on air.

During the interview, the gay man, whose face was blurred to hide his identity, said he was a s-x worker and openly talked about his relationship with another man.

After the interview was aired, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Egypt's top media body, suspended the channel for two weeks for 'professional violations'.

In a statement at the time, the council said the LTC TV had violated its decision 'banning the appearance of homosexuals or promotion of their slogans'.

The council banned the appearance of homosexuals on any outlet after a rainbow flag - symbolic of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community - was waved during a Cairo concert in 2017. Lobatan!

Man Goes Blind In Delta State Seeking 'Power' To Win Gamble

A 27-year-old man, Emmanuel (surname withheld) has lost an eye in his quest for spiritual powers to help him win lottery games somewhere in Delta state.

He reportedly sought help from a witch doctor in Ishiagu village, near Ogwashi-Uku in Delta, to acquire spiritual sight to see lucky numbers.

A friend of the victim, Osita, told NAN on Sunday in Ogwashi-Uku that the incident occurred on January 12, 2019.

“He went to see a juju man to help him acquire spiritual sight so that he could be wining lotto games, popularly known as ‘Baba Ijebu.’

“He once told me that he was worried that he had been playing lotto games without success,” Osita said.

According to him, Emmanuel later sought the help of a witch doctor who assured him of spiritual solution.

Osita narrated how Emmanuel later went to the witch doctor who reportedly prepared some concoctions for him.

He said the witch doctor gave Emmanuel the prepared substance to drink and to also rub on his eyes.

“He never told anyone what he did, but when he started feeling some discomfort in his left eye, he cried out.

“I heard about it from one of our friends; so, I went to see him, that was when he told me what transpired.

“He was taken to the hospital following a swollen eye, but no solution. Right now, he has lost his left eye,” Osita said.

An elder brother to Emmanuel, Justin, told NAN that the family is devastated by the incident.

“We don’t want to say anything about it. We are really shocked by Emma’s desperation. For now, we want to forget about the whole incident. He has his life to live,” Justin said.

The witch doctor, whose name was not given, has since gone into hiding.

Lady Nabbed For Forging Friend's Signature To Withdraw Cash

A 27-year-old woman, Rosemary Godday, has been arrested by the police for allegedly attempting to withdraw money from her friend’s bank account.

It was gathered that Godday impersonated her friend, Rosemary Onovakpuri, by filling a cash withdrawal teller for N500,000 with a forged signature.

The Punch learnt that Godday was apprehended when a discrepancy in the signature on the teller and that of the account holder in the bank’s system was discovered.

Upon her arrest, Godday claimed that she impersonated Onovakpuri because she owed her.

She said, “I went to the bank to withdraw the sum of N500,000 belonging to one of my friends called Rosemary. She was not aware that I was trying to forge her signature to withdraw the said amount. The basis for my action was annoyance of what she did to me four years ago.

“She robbed me of the sum of N3m. I did not know how she did it but all I can say is that she sometimes accompanied me to the bank. That was why I decided to pay her back by forging her signature before I was caught by security personnel.

“Since she withdrew my money four years ago, I have not seen or heard from her but I have had it in mind to pay her back in her own coin.”

Godday was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on three counts of manner likely to cause breach of peace, impersonation and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Kenrich Nomayo, said the offences contravened sections 166 (a), 378(1) and 21(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The charges read in part, “That you, Rosemary Godday, on January 3, 2019, around 2pm at Diamond Bank Plc, Oshodi Branch, Charity bus stop, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

“That you, Rosemary Godday, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did criminally impersonate one Rosemary Onovakpuri with intent to defraud her of the sum of N500,000 in Diamond Bank Plc, Oshodi branch, Charity bus stop.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs T. A. Ojo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,00 with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must be blood relatives of the accused, gainfully employed with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.

Ojo added that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till February 12, 2019.

Mum Who Breastfeeds Her Sons 7 & 4 Hits Back At Trolls Asking Her To Stop

A mum who still breastfeeds her seven-year-old autistic son has hit back at online trolls who branded her a "paedophile" and "sick".

Australian Lisa Bridger, 46, revealed in a Kidspot post in June that she still feeds her autistic son Chase, and his four-year-old brother Pheonix, who is also autistic.

She defended her choice, saying breastfeeding calms them .

Since she has been bombarded with cruel comments claiming she was damaging her child and even accusing her of child abuse and incest, in an open letter posted to Kidspot , Lisa said she would have continued to breastfeed Chase until he no longer wanted it, even if he didn’t have autism.


 She wrote: “To the adults who have commented that I am sick and need to get help, there is nothing mentally wrong with me, I am only doing what is natural.

“It's not a s-xual act, I’m not a paedophile which is what quite a few have suggested.

“My son is very independent, self-assured, not damaged. His friends and peers don't tease as they have been educated in the fact that what he is doing is ok.

“Watching and seeing all you adults bully and abuse me, telling me what I need to do for your comfort, overriding my child's comfort, I can see why so many children bully these days.”

She added that her son uses a cup for water, eats normal food - although he is “picky” and dresses himself.

This is proof, according to Lisa, that his extended breastfeeding was doing nothing to slow his development.

She added: “Breast milk contains some amazing things, antibodies, white blood cells, vitamins that my body produces and transfers to his, and no these nutrients don't just disappear because he's older. Breastfeeding offers him comfort and security among other things.”

Mum Who Fell Pregnant Via IVF, Discovers She's Already Expecting Twins, Then Welcomes Triplets!

A mum who struggled to fall pregnant for a decade had TRIPLETS after she conceived one baby through IVF and twins naturally - in the same week.

Beata Bienias, 36, had begun to give up hope of ever becoming a mother due to issues with her health including polycystic ovaries, brought on by weighing over 17 stone.

But she lost weight and the new mum got more than she ever dreamed of when she finally fell pregnant with one baby through IVF.

But miraculously she had also conceived twins just days before her embryo transfer.


The pregnancy has been described by one fertility expert as "almost impossible",

It means Beata and her husband Pawel, 40, are now parents to four-week-old Amelia and twins Matylda and Borys.

The besotted mum was told by stunned doctors her non-identical twins were conceived naturally just a few days before her IVF embryo transfer on May 2 last year.

And the stunned parents were still unaware that Beata was already pregnant at the time she discovered her IVF treatment had been successful.

Factory worker Beata, from Corsham, Wiltshire, said: "It was the biggest miracle. I never thought something this incredible could happen to me.

"I spent many days thinking that maybe I was the person who would never have a baby.

I never, ever thought there would be three in there.

"I still can't quite believe it when I look at the three of them. I'm so happy," she added.

Fertility expert Emma Cannon, who has worked in the field for 25 years and founded the Emma Cannon Clinic in Chelsea, London, was stunned to hear of Beata's triplets.

She said: "In my 25 years as a fertility specialist, I have only come across one or two scenarios in which women have fallen pregnant whilst undergoing IVF treatment.

Queen Apologizes To Prince Philip's Crash Victim, But Prince Yet To Say A Word

The Queen has intervened following Prince Philip’s horror car smash that landed two women and a nine-month-old baby in hospital.

The 92-year-old monarch instructed her most trusted lady-in-waiting to contact passengers of the other car in the collision, after complaints that the Duke of Edinburgh had not apologised.

Palace sources confirmed attempts to call them were not made until Saturday, at least 48 hours after the crash.

Emma, who turned 46 today, said she had felt “ignored and rejected” by the royals before receiving the message from the Queen.

But she insisted Prince Philip should have taken responsibility to contact her to check she was all right.

PDP Reacts To Obasanjo's Letter On Buhari, 2019 Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it has been vindicated by the concerns raised by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, detailing President Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged scheme to use apparatus of office to undermine the democratic system.

In a statement yesterday by its spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan, the party restated its position that Buhari was out for a self-succession plot.

The party added that Obasanjo’s submission has also

reinforced its position that Buhari, and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), having realised that the incumbent cannot retain his seat in a free and fair election, were now besieging all democratic institutions, including the judiciary, the legislature, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while engaging in acts that threaten the unity, peace and corporate existence of the nation.

It alleged that President Buhari and APC’s desperation for power is putting the lives of over 200 million Nigerians at great risk, saying such actions stoke violence and push the nation to the precipice.

The statement reads: “We are however not surprised that the APC, a party that has shown that it is completely anti-people, quickly rose in defence of the Buhari Presidency’s assault on our democratic order. The APC has always been a deceptive soulless mob that would rather have our nation burn than to be out of power.

“President Obasanjo’s concern is therefore a clarion call to all compatriots, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations to rise in defence of our democracy.

“He has reinforced the fact that this nation belong to all of us; that our pride as a people lies in our resilience and globally acclaimed ability to rise above and defeat every situation that challenges our nationhood.

“The PDP, therefore, calls on all Nigerians to be at alert at this critical time to stop President Buhari and the APC on their anti-democratic trails with our votes.

“We should never allow anybody to set our nation on fire just to achieve selfish ambitions. We must eschew all our differences and unite in using our votes to take back our country from this dwindling, incompetent, ineffectual, corrupt and anti-people administration.

“If we don’t take action with our votes, we would be giving up our nation to totalitarian forces at our own peril and those of generations yet unborn”.

Billionaire Jimoh Ibrahim Reacts To Mum's Death In Fire, Brother Makes Shocking Allegation

…she died from ‘family mismanagement’ –Youngest son 
Business mogul and legal practitioner, Jimoh Ibrahim, on Sunday gave an insight into the death of his mother, Theresa Jimoh, describing her as “a mother we will always love to have at all times.”

According to him, the death is “a big loss” because she was “somebody you won’t like to part with.”

Ibrahim, who spoke with The Punch from the United Kingdom, said “death must occur; something must cause death.”

He stated, “I’m not in Nigeria; I’m at the Cambridge University and not yet home. As a PhD student, I need to get the permission of the university to travel. All I can say is that mama will be given a befitting burial; she is right now in the mortuary.

“When the family announces the date for the burial, we will make it known. Her family will have to handle that because in our culture, I am to do nothing. The family takes charge and decides. At this time, I don’t do anything. I will have to wait for family instructions. So, her immediate elder brother is the one in charge.

“But we thank God that we were able to recover her remains from the fire. Her body is right now in the mortuary, but she will be given a befitting burial. She was a great mother; she did her best and was well taken care of too. My mother was once kidnapped.

“She was a lovely mother; one we will always remember and the mother we will always love to have at all times. Her words are left behind; we will take care of the training she imparted in us and what she did to us when she was alive. The death of my mother is a big loss; she was somebody you wouldn’t like to part with.

“But death must occur; something must cause death. You cannot control that; some people die while asleep or in a plane crash. Something must cause death; it doesn’t just happen. Something must cause it. The greatest thing is that we are happy that she left a good legacy.

“She usually had her prayers as a Catholic. What I was told was that she was having her prayers. She had an altar where she prayed and she lit a candle at that altar. I think that on this occasion, the candle must have ignited the window blind. She had aides; she has her own house where she stayed with a house boy, house girl and security guard.

“By the time rescue came, the fire had already had a serious impact. My mother was 78 years old; she couldn’t survive much stress because of the impact of carbon monoxide on her. We’ve taken everything like that; but the good thing is that we were able to recover her remains. What if there was fire and we couldn’t see her? That would have been more painful.”

Ibrahim’s brother, Dipo, however, said their mother died as a result of family mismanagement.

Dipo, who released a brief statement on the incident on Sunday, denied that the deceased was killed by a candle fire.

The statement read, “Dipo Jimoh (last born and the closest son to the late mother, Mrs Theresa Jimoh), who recently graduated from the Columbia University, and the MD/CEO of Barama Energy Resources, has denounced the root cause of his mother’s death as candle fire. He also denied that her remains were deposited in a morgue by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.

“Dipo has promised to face any heavy weight individual or group, which plans to misinterpret or confuse the populace about the root cause of his mother’s death. My mother died as a result of family complications and mismanagement.”

When The Punch called him for further explanation, he said he would not make any further comments for now.

Obasanjo's Letter: We'll Study It and Make Amends, says INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is not following the path of those who are attacking former president Olusegun Obasanjo for making his positions known on pressing national issues.

INEC said the commission will study the letter and make amends.
