Search For Cardiff City Striker & Pilot Abandoned

The search for Emiliano Sala, a pilot and a missing plane was called off on Thursday afternoon without any trace of the missing Cardiff City striker in the English Channel.

The search was called off after a fourth unsuccessful day since the aircraft disappeared off radars on Monday night north of Guernsey. After officials confirmed that the priority of the search changed from a rescue mission to a recovery operation, a statement from police said that Thursday search will focus on coastal areas of the Channel Islands and northern France, yet this turned up nothing linked to the missing aircraft.

Cardiff City have said that they are “realistic” about the fate of Sala, who joined the club in a £15m deal last weekend, and revelations about the aeroplane that was carrying Sala and pilot Dave Ibbotson continue to emerge, including a voice message left by Sala to his friends in Argentina in the final hours before he disappeared complaining about the condition of the plane and his fear for his safety.

'It's Rubbish!' French President Macron Blasts Brexit

French President Emmanuel Macron last night launched a furious attack on Brexit saying ‘it can’t be delivered’ and had ‘torn society apart’.

Rubbishing the June 2016 referendum in which a majority of the British voted to exit the EU, the head of state said: ‘Be aware of people who sell you dreams, that tell you all your anger can be solved by a referendum. I’m scared of people who manipulate you with miracle ideas.’

Mr Macron was speaking on Thursday evening to an audience in Bourg-de-Peage, south of Lyon, in a ‘people’s debate’.

Some were so-called Yellow Vest anti-government campaigners who themselves want France to leave the EU.

But Mr Macron told them: ‘Take the British. They voted for Brexit. There were people who, in good faith, were sometimes as angry as you are, and they said that the source of all their ills was Europe. It’s rubbish!’

Attacking Brexit poster campaigns that in 2016 promised more money for the NHS and other good causes, Mr Macron said: ‘There were lots of buses passing by reading that you were going to save something like 36 billion pounds if you get out of Europe.

‘And it will be done in 15 days, and then people voted. There were people who voted for Brexit, who did it in good faith, they were angry, and they thought their situation was impossible, because the system was unjust.

In a clear reference to former Conservative politicians including Prime Minister David Cameron, who resigned after losing the Brexit referendum, Mr Macron whistled as he mocked their departures.
‘The result is, it’s in fact been going on for two years now and those who promised a Brexit literally left within two weeks. They didn’t even want to govern!

2019: United States, UK Threaten Visa Ban On Nigerian Election Riggers

Ahead of Nigeria’s 2019 general elections, both the United States of America and the United Kingdom have threatened to punish anyone found guilty of either instigating violence or plotting to rig the elections.

In separate statements issued on Thursday by the Embassy of the United States and the British High Commission in Abuja, the two countries pledged their commitment to ensuring free and fair elections in the country, saying the 2019 elections “is important not only for Nigeria, but for the African continent.”

These statements are coming on the heels of agitation among politicians and particularly former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who in his latest 16-page letter, had expressed doubt on the readiness and capability to conduct free and fair election.

The U.S. statement reads in part; “The United States government does not support any specific candidate or party in Nigeria’s upcoming elections. The United States supports the Nigerian democratic process itself. We support a genuinely free, fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.

“We, and other democratic nations, will be paying close attention to actions of individuals who interfere in the democratic process or instigate violence against the civilian population before, during, or after the elections. We will not hesitate to consider consequences – including visa restrictions – for those found to be responsible for election-related violence or undermining the democratic process. Under U.S. immigration law, certain violations may also lead to restrictions on family members.”

On her part, the United Kingdom promised continued support for Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) towards making the electoral process credible and peaceful.

The statement reads in part; “We continue to provide significant support to Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission and to Nigerian civil society to help them deliver credible elections. We also regularly engage with actors across the political spectrum to encourage them to respect electoral rules and maintain an atmosphere of peace and calm. We will be deploying an extensive observation mission for the forthcoming elections, including coordinating with the EU’s Election Observation Mission.

“Our monitors will in particular be looking out for any attempts to encourage or use violence to influence the elections, including on social media. We would like to remind all Nigerians that where the UK is aware of such attempts, this may have consequences for individuals. These could include their eligibility to travel to the UK, their ability to access UK based funds or lead to prosecution under international law.”

Woman Sues Ex-Husband For Taking Children To Almajiri School

Jamila Abubakar, 33, on Thursday dragged her former husband, one Isah Aliyu, to a Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for taking their two children to an ‘Almajiri’ school.

The complainant, a resident of Rido, told the court that Aliyu divorced her three weeks ago, took their children to his village at Kargi in Kaduna, and enrolled them in Almajiri school.

“I was the one who enrolled my children in both western and Islamic school in Kaduna and they have been doing well”, she said.

She therefore prayed the court to document the divorce made to her and compel the defendant to return the children back to town so that they could continue their education.

On his part, the defendant said he divorced his wife for refusing to relocate to his village with him, adding that he did not take his children to an Almajiri school.

He added that the children were well taken care of by his parents and his new wife in the village.

The Judge, Dahiru Lawal, after listening to both parties, ruled that the court had confirmed the divorce and ordered the defendant to bring the children to court in one week.

Mr Lawal adjourned the case till January 31.

Shocking Photos Reveal How British Sailor Opened Escape Hatches In Hull Of Yacht To Drown Newlywed Wife To Inherit Her Estate

New photos reveal how a British sailor murdered his wife while on their honeymoon in the Caribbean by intentionally sinking the small ship they were on.

British-Australian man Lewis Bennett has pleaded guilty to killing his new wife Isabella Hellman, 41, at sea and prosecutors are now seeking a maximum sentence.

Prosecutors have released photos of the damage Bennett allegedly inflicted on the ship's hull in an effort to sink it and make Hellman's death look like a tragic accident.

The FBI has accused Bennett, from Poole, Dorset, of intentionally sinking the ship in a bid to inherit his wife's estate in the horrific plot which unfolded on May 15, 2017.

The photos became crucial because they showed the portholes below the waterline of the vessel had been opened and the damage was inflicted from the inside.

Bennett allegedly opened escape hatches and damaged the twin hulls of the catamaran he and Hellman were travelling on for their honeymoon, reported CBS12.

After the two went out sailing, the vessel then sank and Bennett made an SOS call saying the boat called Surf into Summer was sinking and his wife was missing.

He claimed the ship struck an unknown object while he was in a cabin inside the vessel. When he came up he did not see Hellman and the ship was taking on water.

He was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard between Cuba and the Bahamas and was found on a life raft stuffed with his luggage, stolen silver coins, and provisions.

Hellman's body was never found and Bennett said he had no idea what happened to her but suspected she was swept off and into the sea when the ship submerged.

Judge Convicts INEC Official Accused Of Receiving Diezani Bribe
A federal court in Lagos has convicted a former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) administrative secretary in Kwara State, Christian Nwosu.

Mohammed Idris, the judge, found Mr Nwosu guilty of laundering N264million.

“I find that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt in the manner required by law,” the judge said.

The judge adjourned sentencing till Friday and ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) ensure his present Nwosu in court.

The EFCC re-arraigned Mr Nwosu for allegedly accepting gratification from former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Mrs Alison-Madueke is still at large.

Mr Nwosu was re-arraigned alongside Tijani Bashir before Mr Idris.

They were charged with another INEC official Yisa Adedoyin, who had pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted following a plea bargain.

Mr Nwosu initially pleaded guilty to receiving N30million gratification from Mrs Alison-Madueke ahead of the 2015 general elections, but later changed his plea to not guilty.

Senior Chiefs Scream Sacrilege After Delta King Replaces Idols In His Palace With Jesus Status

As if in home movies, the Obi (traditional ruler) of Nsukwa kingdom in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State, HRM Kenneth Ezegbune 1, on Wednesday pulled down several shrines including a very powerful idolatry statue of “Nneoma” bequeathed to the kingdom, and replaced same with the statue of Jesus Christ in his palace.

The monarch was said to have been disturbed by strange faces and voices in his palace and was strongly advised by his pastor to destroy and do away with all forms of idolatry and shrines after he claimed to have given his life and those of his children to Christ some time last week.

Sources said the monarch’s passionate hatred for idolatry made him destroy the symbols, which attracted bad blood from his subjects including the palace chiefs who confronted him that he has committed a sacrilege.

One of the chiefs, who spoke to Daily Post on condition of anonymity, said, “the king has defiled the land. He has destroyed several years old shrines. He said he is now with Christ, which means he’s now a pastor. The gods are angry, he can’t be king without the gods. The situation is very bad and the council of chiefs frown about the activities going on in the palace in the name of Christ Jesus”.

But speaking with newsmen in the area, Obi Ezegbune said: “I was moved to pull down Nneoma statue and others, and erect the statue of Jesus Christ to remove the traces of Idolatry hitherto in my ascension to the throne in order to see the finger of God at work in Nsukwa Kingdom during my regime.

“I don’t want to see anything idolatry, shrines in my kingdom. I and my household are in Christ Jesus, and no going back on serving God. He is the all and all in my life and that of my children, my wife”.

Some elders of the community, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity, described the decision of the king to destroy the Nneoma statue as portending bad omen, warning that the consequences might be too bad unless the king retraces his steps.

“The gods are not happy at all, he has changed the traditions differently,” they said.

Obi Ezegbune however insisted that, “My palace will continue to bubble in Christ Jesus. God is the greatest ruler, God is awesome. We shall continue to worship the Lord, Jesus Christ, there is King of Kings in Nsukwa Kingdom. I invite all Deltans, especially Christians to come and experience Jesus Christ through solemn worship at the palace’s King of Kings chapel”.

Oby Ezekwesili Cries Out Over Actions By Her Party's Chairman

Madam Oby Ezekwesili, the embattled presidential candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), has described as baseless, the allegation by Abdul-Ganiyu Galadima, national chairman of the party, that she was never really serious about her presidential ambition.

Speaking through Ozioma Ubabukoh, her media aide, she said Galadima’s claim that she was contesting to negotiate to be minister of finance was a figment of his imagination.

Galadima was Ezekwesili’s running-mate until she announced her withdrawal from the race early on Thursday.

Ezekwesili said she withdrew from the race after due consultations with Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.

She added that her decision to quit the race was informed by the need to help build a coalition to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from winning.

She said neither APC nor PDP could provide the kind of governance needed to reposition the country .

Few hours after Ezekwesili’s withdrawal from the race, Galadima called a news conference, saying Ezekwesili had not shown the commitment to be president from the beginning.

He alleged that the former minister was just in the race to negotiate to be minister of finance and that she had kept the party in the dark about her real intention.

Galadima added that the candidate had used the platform of the party to get funds from donors, which she had not spent to show commitment to her ambition.

The ACPN chairman said having realised that Ezekwesili did not represent the interest of the party, the party was endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election.

Ubabukoh dismissed Galadima’s claims, saying the candidate’s decision to withdraw from the race was taken to sacrifice her personal interests.

“All these allegations are figment of his imagination. They are baseless. The decision to withdraw from the race is in the interest of the nation. It should be the nation first before anything,” Ubabukoh said.

He said it was curious that Galadima, less than three hours after Ezekwesili’s withdrawal, endorsed Buhari and added that the action showed the ACPN chairman had long had a personal agenda and never believed in the idea to disrupt the status quo in country.

Ubabukoh said Ezekwesili would soon address a news conference where she would provide details about her withdrawal from the presidential race.

Ezekwesili Drops Bombshell! I Stepped Down From Race Because ACPN Derailed From Their Vision

Former Presidential candidate for the ACPN for the 2019 elections, Oby Ezekwesili has stated the real reason she quickly stepped down from the race and left her party. According to Ezekwesili, her party derailed from the REAL vision.

Oby further went on to say, the party's immediate endorsement of President Buhari means alot and has exposed who they trully her to Nigerians.

Recall the party had asked the former minister to tend every party material in her hands and aslo asked her to give account of every donation and how it was spent? Oby has now promised to do that, but states clearly, the party is not what it portrays itself to be.

Below are Oby's words dropped on twitter shortly after ACPN released a statement saying she did not consult them before stepping down. Hopefully this fight won't escalate. By the way, Oby is in mexico at the moment, and will be having a press conference soon as she returns!

''I have also seen the reaction of ACPN leadership to my decision. Fortunately, they have divinely helped me by making the Nigerian public now fully understand why I had to swiftly depart from their midst.

''How could I upon realizing the divergence of values and vision with the leadership of the Party continue to stand on such a political platform? My abiding vision has been to mobilize citizens to disrupt the old order politics of APCPDP.

''Nigeria and Nigerians deserve a New Order of ethical, competent and capable leadership which I had mistakenly assumed the ACPN was aligned with me to offer, until it proved otherwise.

''The values and vision divergence with the Party was a key factor that triggered my withdrawal from the Presidential race on their ticket prompting me to dissociate immediately in order to help build a coalition for Good Governance.
''It is why I was instant in sacrificing my candidacy to uphold my values by withdrawing.

''The Party’s decision to immediately today endorse the candidate of APC which was announced by my erstwhile VP candidate who is also the Chairman of ACPN was their classic political entrepreneurship in full display for Nigerians to see. It is instructive.

''The Party leadership’s transactional approach to Politics began to manifest in their attitude following after the Convention that adopted me as their Presidential Candidate. All who know me can attest that I detest transactional mindset.

''I would have none of such and therefore extremely delighted to part ways after a tumultuous three months of hoping that the ACPN leadership would elevate to the new values of disruptive politics that one had desired for and preached within the Party.

''As for the defamatory statements made against my person by the ACPN leadership in their malicious statement, I want Nigerians to know that there is NO IOTA of truth in any of them. Everything ACPN wrote or said of the campaign donations is fabrication&outright lies.

''Our Campaign was conducted with the highest level of transparency and accountability with impeccable evidence. I know and can guarantee that at all times because, these standards firmly underpin my commitment to lasting values and professionalism.

''Only those who pretend ignorance of my legendary and uncompromising passion for accountability would give heed to such baseless statement.

I Did Every Unthinkable Job Even While Pregnant, Omoni Oboli Tells Instagram Beggar

Omoni Oboli has addressed a young lady who is a professional beggar telling her that it is not the best way. According to the actress, the young lady is fond of always begging for N1k on her posts and she is sure she does it on other people’s posts too. Omoni replied her message advising her to stop while using her own life as an example to her. Her messages below….

These are the issues...

I have never responded to begging comments ever because I know first hand that we’ve all needed a little assistance and maybe even still do so we have to ask but...

You are asking for assistance for what exactly? What is the end game? Is it to start a business that will eventually give you some financial freedom? If so, fantastic! I applaud you!

When it becomes a lifestyle is when it gets worrisome. How do you for months or years drop the same comment on hundreds or thousands of posts? It reminds me of those days nicely dressed guys would come to you outside business places and say they lost their wallet and they just needed transport fare. You will then know you’ve been had, when the same guy meets you the following week with the exact same story. It’s now online.

We all know country hard. Leave o, it’s really hard for many people and we try in our small capacity to help as many people as we can...But if you are an able bodied young person, think of what you can do and then you can beg for the money to do it. I know free money is sweet. Believe me, as hard as I work for my money, the kind of dance I dance when I get free money nor be here but...there’s dignity in making your own money. Dignity in doing something that will not only give you money but bring satisfaction and fulfillment.

My darling young lady deleted her comment after my response to her. Luckily I had screenshot it. I had thought she would come to my DM asking for assistance to start something but she deleted her comment. What does that tell you?

Please my fellow hustlers, nobody owes anybody anything! Stand up and do something! God bless our hustle

President Muhammadu Buhari has said it is not true that his government has been marginalising Igbo people.

He also assured the Igbo of a seaport in Onitsha if re-elected. He announced that the  River Niger  portion in Onitsha would be  among the rivers that would be dredged for seaports in his second term

Others, he said, included Warri and Lokoja, which he said  when done, would  decongest the Lagos seaport and open economic activities in Anambra and the South-East in general.

Buhari made this pledge at an interactive session with traditional rulers  and presidents-general of Anambra communities at the palace of the Obi of Onitsha on Thursday during his campaign visit to the state.

He said, “My government is determined to complete the ongoing federal projects in the state, especially the Second Niger Bridge and the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

Man Nabbed For Stealing Pants, Bras In Lagos

Some residents of Ikeja area of Lagos State, on Thursday, apprehended a man for allegedly stealing bras and pants from where they were spread.

It was learnt that some residents, who saw the man while allegedly collecting the underwear, accosted him and demanded to know the content of the bag he was carrying.

He was said to have threatened to deal with the people for insulting him, but unmoved by his threat, some youths forced the man to open the bag.

An eyewitness, Bayo Ojo, said when the man finally opened the bag, bras, pants and other clothing items were found in it.

Reactions As US, UK Vow To Deal With Nigerian Leaders Who Rig 2019 Elections

The United States and the United Kingdom have warned that politicians, who instigate violence or are involved in electoral fraud, will be refused visas to enter their countries.

In statements issued by the US Embassy and British High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Thursday, both governments called for free and fair elections, announcing that politicians working towards scuttling the exercise would not only face a number of sanctions but would also have their family members face visa bans to the US and the UK.

The US Embassy in its statement, said, “The conduct of the upcoming elections in Nigeria is important not only for Nigeria, but for the African continent.

“The United States Government does not support any specific candidate or party in Nigeria’s upcoming elections but supports the Nigerian democratic process itself. We support a genuinely free, fair, transparent and peaceful electoral process.

“We and other democratic nations will be paying close attention to actions of individuals, who interfere in the democratic process or instigate violence against the civilian population before, during or after the elections.

“We will not hesitate to consider consequences – including visa restrictions – for those found to be responsible for election-related violence or undermining the democratic process.

“Under US immigration law, certain violations may also lead to restrictions on family members.”

While making its own call and pledging support for the Independent National Electoral Commission, the British High Commission said, “We and our international partners remain committed supporters of Nigeria’s democracy.

“We do not support any party or individual and believe that the Nigerian people should be able to choose their leaders in an environment free from hate speech and insecurity.

“We continue to provide significant support for the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Nigerian civil society to help them deliver credible elections.

“Our monitors will in particular be looking out for any attempts to encourage or use violence to influence the elections, including on social media.

“We would like to remind all Nigerians that where the UK is aware of such attempts, this may have consequences for individuals.

“These could include their eligibility to travel to the UK, their ability to access UK based funds or lead to prosecution under international law.”

PDP, CUPP back UK, US
Meanwhile, opposition political parties on the platform of the Coalition of Political Parties welcomed the decision of the UK and the US.

The coalition’s first national spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, stated this in a statement in Abuja.

While lauding the foreign governments for their decision, Ugochinyere described them as the true gatekeepers of democracy.

He said, “We, the opposition parties, are in full support of this decision by the UK and the USA, the true gatekeepers of democracy.

“On Monday, we will be releasing a list of 15 Buhari/APC associates involved in pre-election crisis.

“This statement from the UK and the US couldn’t have come at a better time. We have on many occasions reiterated the need for this visa ban on perpetrators of election violence and we are glad that finally, it is going to happen.

“For the past few months, Buhari and his APC-led administration have tried to create many pre-election crises by spreading fake news about the opposition in other to instil hate and unbelief in the minds of innocent citizens.

“There are many cases, from their rally of blood in Lagos where they sent goons to attack citizens, to the arrest of innocent activists, opposition politicians, journalists, and the recent baseless lie by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the opposition is plotting to commission bandits and Boko Haram to disrupt the 2019 elections.

“All these are few of the many election triggers done intentionally by the APC to create pre-election crisis, and we will unveil the culprits on Monday.”

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have thrown their weight behind the UK and the US decision to sanction anyone caught interfering with the elections.

However, the Social Democratic Party, which also supported the plan, said apart from violence and rigging, the foreign governments should add vote-buying to the list of electoral irregularities they would be on the lookout for.
