One social media user said: ‘Beautiful. Picture of the year,’ while another added: '[This] steal's my spirits, so cute!'

Judge Orders Arrest Of Nollywood Actress Monalisa Chinda

A Lagos High Court in Igbosere has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of actress and producer, Monalisa Chinda Coker, over a tax evasion charge running for a period of six years.

Justice Adedayo Akintoye made the order on January 21, following an application by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, alleging that she had repeatedly failed to honor a court summons.

The application flowed from a two-count charge accusing the actress of a six-year failure to file annual tax returns and failure to pay income tax in respect of her company, Monalisa Code Productions. The company carries on its business from Lekki in Lagos.

Prosecution counsel, Y. A. Pitan told Justice Akintoye that Monalisa had not appeared in court since 2017, when the charge was filed against her.

“The defendant has been served with hearing notice. The proof of service is in the court’s file,” Pitan said, while making an application for the bench warrant.

Granting the application, Justice Akintoye adjourned further proceedings till February 2.

But on February 2, the court heard that the bench warrant had yet to be effected. It ordered that the warrant should continue and adjourned till April 1.

The particulars of the count stated that the popular actress “of Monalisa Code Productions, being a taxable person in Nigeria and carrying on business at… Lekki… failed to furnish and file tax returns on your personal income for the years 2011 to 2016.”

Okorocha, Amosun's Suspension By APC: INEC Reacts

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken a stand. The body said the suspension of Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun State) and Rochas Okorocha (Imo State) by the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no bearing on their fresh status as senators-elect, saying the disciplinary action was an internal party affair.

For the avoidance of doubt, INEC said only the
election petition tribunal could restrain it from issuing a certificate of return to anybody declared by it as winner of an electoral contest under the Electoral Act 2010 as altered.

The electoral commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Festus Okoye, made these clarifications yesterday in Abuja while responding to enquiries from ThisDay over the suspension and possible expulsion of the governors by their party as well as the court order former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, secured, restraining INEC from issuing certificate of return to his opponent that defeated him in the Akwa Ibom North-west senatorial district, Mr. Chris Ekpeyong.

He said it was a common knowledge that whenever the country was within the orbit of post-election challenges and litigation, no new matter could be filed or adjudicated upon by the various courts arising from the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Justice Valentine Ashi of a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, had on Friday restrained INEC from issuing certificate of return to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Ekpeyong.

Justice Ashi gave the restraining order in a short ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Akpabio.

However, Okoye said he was not aware the commission has been restrained from issuing certificate of return to any candidate.

He stated: “I am not aware that the commission has been served with any order relating to the issuance of certificate of return to any of the candidates returned as duly elected and arising from the conduct of the February 23, 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections.

“I am also not aware that the commission has been restrained from issuing certificate of return to any of the candidates returned as having been elected during the February 23 elections.”

Okoye explained that the commission is not a court of law or election tribunal, adding that the electoral body was only empowered to issue a certificate of return to candidates that were validly elected in the presidential and National Assembly Elections.

He explained further that when the commission is served with a court order, it will deliberate on it as a commission, satisfy itself that the order is from a properly constituted court of law and relates to the issues within its statutory and constitutional mandate.

According to him, the commission does not sit on appeal over orders from the various courts and does not pick and choose which order to obey and which one not to obey.

Okoye added, “However, it is a matter of common knowledge that the country is now within the orbit of post-election challenges and litigation and no new matter can be filed or adjudicated upon by the various courts arising from the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.”

How Deputy Commissioner of Police Escaped Being Beheaded During Presidential Election

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Bayelsa State, Kolawole Okunola, who was abducted by armed thugs during the last presidential and National Assembly election, and brutally manhandled, was at the point of being beheaded when rescue came for him, it has been revealed.

In one of the viral clips that emerged during the first round of elections, the visibly terrified police officer was shown being dragged away by a furious mob.

The officer, who was on election duties at the time he was dragged away, said he was seriously assaulted, and was at the point of being beheaded when succor came.

“It was like what happens in an action film. They manhandled me, and I was attacked severally with clubs and was at the verge of being beheaded when I was rescued,” he said.

Sources revealed to The Guardian that it was the timely intervention, and efforts, of a Nigerian Army captain that saved Okunola, in the nick of time.

DCP Okunola, who had served in almost all the parts of the country, said he was invited to the scene after armed hoodlums in large number attacked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who earlier arrived the community with electoral materials, in Bassambiri community, of Nembe Local Government Area.

Okunola said the hoodlums had reportedly hijacked and allegedly carted away electoral materials meant for seven wards in the area, and took them to a popular hotel in a bid to manipulate the results. They brought back the alleged fake results to the INEC office when another opposing group who were alerted of the development, started protesting.

According to Okunola, while the group was protesting, the armed thugs that earlier hijacked the INEC materials arrived at the jetty accompanied by a great number of armed youths and insisted that INEC officials must authenticate the manipulated results before leaving the community.

“Since I was on duty in the area, I was alerted to the scene after hearing loud noises coming from the INEC office. I later got to know that the noise was voices being raised by INEC officials and party agents who were having disagreement over election materials and results, which was escorted by party agents from Bassambiri to INEC office. While the party agents were arguing that there were no elections in Bassambiri, and wondered where the results came from, I tried to calm them down, and ask that they write their petition to INEC, but all efforts proved abortive.

“Then in order to avoid imminent breakdown of law and order by the thugs around, I informed the Commissioner of Police and he directed that both officials of INEC and the materials should be moved to the state capital, Yenagoa, for safety. This was agreed with the military officers on duty,” he added.

It was however learned from another officer that it was in the process that party candidates led youths in a large number, and attacked Okunola, dragging and assaulting him with threats to kill him if he failed to direct the INEC officials to go back to the office and continue collation of results.

The officer narrated that as soon as the thugs abducted Okunola, they dragged him to an unknown place where they subjected him to threats, torture, and severe beatings. In the process, his uniform, including its accoutrements, were torn to pieces. They later sat him down in a wooden box and brought out daggers and other dangerous weapons, in preparation of a beheading, in spite of pleas, and the intervention of an army officer.

“Luckily, while they were waiting for the final order by their leader to carry out their threat, mother luck smiled on Okunola, as a message came from one of them that INEC officials have gone back to authenticate the manipulated results. That was how they left the police officer and trooped to the venue to complete their mission,” he said.

It was also gathered that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frederick Lakanu, who was swiftly dispatched by the Inspector-General of Police to Bayelsa to investigate the ugly incident had set the ball rolling by visiting the troubled area in Brass Island.

While addressing senior officers at the Bayelsa police command, he condemned the act and vowed to identify, arrest and prosecute all those connected with the assault, their proxies and sponsors. He appreciated the conduct displayed by the officers in the face of the obvious provocation and ordered the reinforcement of officers to flashpoints in the state in order to forestall ant break down of law and order in the state.

President Buhari Won’t Support Oshiomhole On My Suspension -Okorocha

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has distanced President Muhammadu Buhari from what he called “lawlessness” allegedly being perpetrated in the All Progressives Congress by the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Okorocha, in a statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, said Buhari “is too decent” to be backing Oshiomhole in his unlawful actions.

The governor said Oshiomhole had done “so many strange things in APC.”

Okorocha described his suspension and that of his Ogun State counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun, from APC as worrisome.

He said Oshiomhole’s idea of party supremacy was lawlessness.

The statement read, “Adams Oshiomhole has done so many strange things with the party and it would be wrong for anybody to think that President Buhari, known for his penchant for decency, honesty and forthrightness would be on the same page with the national chairman.

“The President was voted by Nigerians across the geo-political zones because he has proved to be real and can be trusted. When he said he was fighting corruption, you saw it happening. It cannot be the same thing with someone who saw sold the tickets of the party to the highest bidders.

“We have yet to see any Nigerian living that would have defeated President Buhari in that election. He has earned the confidence and trust of most Nigerians, and in states where he lost, you could see traces of wanton manipulation and mutilation of election figures like in the case of Imo.

“In other words, the President has nothing to do with Oshiomhole’s disdain for the right actions and the chairman’s penchant for lawlessness and total disregard for the party’s constitution.”

Photos: Man Who Drinks His Own Urine Recommends It For Everyone

Issa yummy thing! A man has revealed he feels better than ever after he started drinking more than a pint of his own urine every morning - and claims it tastes like bitter ale.

Fabian Farquharson, 37, from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, first started the bizarre practise three years ago after reading about the purported health benefits online.

The interior designer starts every day with a pint of fresh urine, chased down with 300-400ml of aged pee, and claims the unusual thirst quencher has left him feeling healthier, happier and smarter.

He explained: 'I'd been researching alternative medicines when I read about drinking aged urine. I've always been open-minded about that sort of thing, so I decided to give it a go and drink it fresh.

'It tasted a bit like a bitter ale initially, it was quite strong but not a terrible taste and I had no problem finishing the glass.

'It was about half an hour later that I started to feel amazing, I was absolutely bursting with energy. Now I'd never go a day without it and would recommend it to anyone.'

Fabian first started researching alternative medicines and holistic therapies in 2013, when he kept experiencing pains in his stomach which doctors couldn't get to the bottom of.

He said: 'I was travelling a lot for work and eating junk food - Burger King, McDonald's, anything convenient.

'I was getting a lot of pain in my stomach and scans couldn't find an ulcer or anything that could explain it, so I started looking online more and more.

Britain To Open First Transgender Jail This Week

Britain is set to open its first transgender ‘jail within a jail’ in what is also reported to be a first for Europe.

A unit housing only trans inmates will open this week at Downview prison near Sutton, south London, in a building that had previously been named after Josephine Butler, a Victorian feminist.

Downview is a women’s jail, with one source claiming ‘significant concern’ among its 320 female prisoners at the arrival of male-bodied trans inmates, The Sunday Times reports.

A number of prison doctors and governors claim some s-x criminals transition to get access to women. However, the new trans wing will be located in a separate building within the prison perimeter, with an inner fence dividing it from the rest of the jail.

The first three residents are expected to arrive this week.

President of the Prison Governors Association, Andrea Albutt, said the success of the new unit would depend on how effectively the prison protected its biologically female inmates.

Justice Minister Edward Argar said the new policy would ‘strike the right balance between ensuring that all female prisoners are kept safe and transgender prisoners have their rights respected’.

Saraki's Sister Challenges Him: APC Must Win Kwara

A former federal lawmaker, Gbemisola Saraki, has said she would work hard to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) produces the next governor of her home state, Kwara.

She said she would ensure that the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, emerged the winner of Saturday’s election.

Gbemisola belongs to the APC while her brother, Bukola Saraki is in PDP.

The current governor of the state, Abdulfatah Ahmed, also belongs to the PDP.

Gbemisola made her position known in a statement on Saturday. She said, “We can’t stop until progressives lead all states to the next level of our collective prosperity. So for each and every one of us, we must not relent, we have the elections of next Saturday, March 9 to go.

“In my state, Kwara, we are all out to ensure that AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of our party, the APC, emerges the next governor of Kwara State, Insha Allah.”

On President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election for another four years, the former senator said every nation needed a true leader whose patriotism is unassailable and whose honesty in leadership and integrity of character are transparently beyond reproach.

She said Nigerians found those true leadership qualities in Buhari in 2015. She expressed delight at the fact that the trust was reaffirmed during the last presidential election.

She thanked Nigerians for seeing Buhari, among other presidential candidates, as a true leader and only one worthy to pilot the nation for another four years.

Pretty Lady Killed By Cultist For Refusing To Surrender Phone

Gunmen suspected to be cultists have shot dead a lady, who reportedly refused to hand over her phone to them. It was gathered that the lady, who was identified as Janet Okoro, was shot dead on Saturday on Edede Street, Owerri, the Imo State capital.

She was reportedly going home when some cult boys, who were said to be operating in the area, accosted her and demanded her phone in broad daylight.

The victim, who hailed from Ebonyi State, refused to surrender her phone to her killers.

A source said, “The lady was stopped by some cult boys on Edede Street, who demanded her phone; the victim refused and the boys shot her and made away with the phone.

“She was later rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where she was confirmed dead by medical doctors on duty.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the investigation had commenced into the killing. He stated that the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue, and gave an assurance that the command would nab the killers.

Senate President Position: The Struggle Within APC

The battle for Senate President is in top gear, even though the position will become vacant about three months ahead. What's the rush about? Politicians don't want to be caught napping.

Front runners for the exalted seat, including Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje and Senator Abdullahi Adamu, are said to be on top of their game.

A source said the front runners have started reaching out to PDP senators.

The source told The Nation that with about 66 new senators out of 109 coming to the upper chamber, the battle would be tough.

He said if the APC failed to put its house in order before the inauguration of the 9th Senate in June, “the scenario of June 9th, 2015 when out going Senate President Bukola Saraki emerged Senate President with the active help of PDP senators would repeat itself.”

He also listed Lawan ( Yobe North), Ndume ( Borno South ), Goje (Gombe Central) and Adamu (Nasarawa West) as the leading contenders in the race for the seat of Senate Presidency.

According to the source, “Saraki factor in who takes over from him as Senate President should not be over looked.”

He added that “it is obvious that most of the re-elected senators are loyalists of Saraki. You cannot over look that factor. It may play out in the choice of who emerges as Senate President. Already, high wired politics is going on among the top contenders. People are reaching out and wooing both old and incoming senators.”

The source, who said that PDP senators must not be allowed to exploit any division among APC senators, noted that “the battle is still very much open and up for grab.”

On PDP factor in the Senate, he said with APC 65 senators and PDP 41, the opposition party must not be underrated. He said:“Anybody PDP senators with their expected block vote back for the race will carry the day.”

The APC and the Presidency, he said, should consider all possibilities before endorsing any senator for the top job.

For him, “The APC should conduct proper and indebt profiling of the contenders. Their strength and weaknesses should be considered. Their track records are likely to come to play in the choice of who becomes the Senate President.”

To prevent a dark horse from emerging Senate President, the APC must not allow all comers affair, Chairman Senate Committee on Labour and Productive, Senator Abu Ibrahim, has said.

Senator Ibrahim told reporters in Abuja that APC should immediately meet on the matter.

The Katsina South Senator said APC should set in motion the process of endorsing its candidate for the Senate President to avoid what happened in 2015 when Saraki emerged Senate President against the Party’s position.

Ibrahim is upbeat that the APC will do what is necessary in the interest of the party.

Results of the last National Assembly elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), shows that the APC won 65 of the 109 (about 59%) senatorial seats in the country, leaving the PDP with 41 senatorial seats (37%) and Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) one seat (1%).

The APC secured 61 seats in the Red Chambers in 2015 before the PDP infiltrated its ranks to secure the office of the Deputy President of the Senate for Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

Set up zoning mechanism for NASS leadership to avoid 2015 scenario, Nabena tells APC
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Yekini Nabena, urged the leadership of the party to zone and select preferred principal officers of the incoming 9th National Assembly.

He added: “The Peoples Democratic Party has lost the presidential election and they have now adopted a plan B from their infamous Dubai strategy meeting.

“The plan is to hijack the incoming National Assembly leadership by repeating their heinous coup in the previous Assembly. The APC must prevent a repeat of a situation where despite our overwhelming majority in the outgoing 8th Senate and House of Representatives, its leadership was hijacked by saboteurs and their opposition PDP collaborators.”

Tornado Rips Through Alabama, Kills 23, Many Hospitalized... Properties Destroyed [Photos]

At least 23 people have been confirmed dead after a tornado ripped across south-east Alabama on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the area after a severe storm left a trail of destroyed mobile homes, trees and vehicles in its wake. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said that the ‘sheer volume of the debris’ was some of the most he had ever seen.

He warned that the current death count ‘may rise again’ as rescue teams continue to scan the area.
Drones equipped with heat sensors are now being flown over the debris in an attempt to find survivors, after dangerous conditions halted the search last night.

Mr Jones said the tornado travelled straight down a key artery in Beauregard and that the path of damage and destruction looked to be at least half a mile wide.

Many people had been taken to hospitals, ‘some of them with very serious injuries’ he added.

Rita Smith, spokeswoman for the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, said about 150 first responders had helped efforts to search the debris after the powerful storm hit. Our prayers are with them.

Indian Parents Force Gay Son's Partner To Dress Like A Woman On Their Wedding Day & Made Him Do Chores As A WIFE Immediately After Their Wedding

Go parentssssssssss... lol. Shey you are the wife now, you will do house chores tire! You know what? You don't even want to know how this ended.. Savage parents.. READ!

A gay man says he was made to dress as a woman on his wedding day so as not to embarrass his husband’s family. Roy Singh, 29, claimed his mother and father in-law struggled to accept that their son was gay and would only allow him to marry if Roy wore a wig and heels. Roy, of Manchester, said his husband’s mum even started calling him her ‘daughter-in-law’ and made him continue to pretend to be a woman after they had said I do.

He hadn’t yet come out to his own parents because he was afraid that as a Sikh family they would disown him if they found out. He was so in love with his then boyfriend – who he met when he was just 18 – that he agreed to his in-laws demands and moved down to London to live with them.

Roy said that when, after two years together, his boyfriend asked him to marry him, he thought he was in a ‘fairytale’. But that quickly changed when his future mother-in-law got in touch for the first time and they arranged to meet.

He told the Mirror: ‘She said I was very good-looking and her son had chosen well. ‘But she told me that she comes from a big Indian family and there’s a lot of honour involved.

‘She said if I wanted to marry him I would have to dress as a woman on the wedding day. I would also need to pretend to be a woman for a while to convince the community her son isn’t gay.’

He added: ‘I was gobsmacked. I thought, “How did that even come into her head?” She had even brought a basket of women’s clothes and gold bracelets with her.

‘I knew it was going to be difficult us being together as LGBTQ isn’t talked about in the Asian community.

‘I hadn’t even told my own family. But I just wanted to be with him and I would have done anything.’ Roy said that only nine people at the wedding of 450 guests knew the truth of who he was on their wedding day. But hiding his identity didn’t end after their vows. He claims his new family began calling him ‘Lucky’, forcing him to do chores and continue to dress as a woman.

He spent less and less time with his husband and said they began to argue about his treatment ‘constantly’. Roy’s own parents found out about the wedding when they saw photographs on Facebook. He said they disowned him.

When he finally grew enough courage to leave, he had nowhere to go and said he ended up living at a homeless hostel. After finding out some months later that his ex was due to re-marry a woman, he attempted to take his own life. But he was saved and taken to hospital, where his parents were called.

‘They took me back home,’ Roy said. ‘No matter what, when a parent sees a child in that state it makes them see they have to stand by you.’

Peruzzi Insults Female Artist Who Sketched Him

Nigerian singers are rude, but wait for the ones coming behind them -- they are more UNCULT! So ever since Kevin Hart retweeted the Nigerian artist who did a pencil work of him and even patronized him, more Nigerians have been sketching that of their favs and begging for retweets. One female however did a sketch of DMW’s Peruzzi, and instead of appreciating the artist who says, she listens to his songs everyday of her life, lol… Pez lashed out at her.

YOUR HEAD IS NOT CORRECT! He wrote in replying his beautifully drawn art! Nice at all? Is that nice? Lol.
