Evangelist beaten for stealing two Tecno mobile phones in Ibadan (photos)

A self-acclaimed evangelist, Mr Akinjide Durojaiye, was on Thursday beaten to a pulp for allegedly stealing two new Tecno mobile phones from a shop within the Femi Johnson Building in the Dugbe area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The 49-year-old man, who claimed to be an evangelist at the Dominion Assembly, Ilare-Ijesa in Osun State, said he was in the shop, where mobile phones and accessories were being sold, to preach the gospel to all the people he found there.

Durojaiye claimed that he came from Ilare-Ijesa to Ibadan on an evangelisation mission, adding that the ‘spirit’ directed him to the shop to preach to the attendants and others.

He was said to have been apprehended by the attendants and other onlookers while trying to escape with the two phones valued at N70,000.

One of the shop attendants, who gave his name simply as Tunde, said he did not notice when the evangelist pilfered the phones, which were on display, saying he and the others were already carried away by his preaching.

While being chased by the attendants and neighbours, Durojaiye was said to have hidden in a store within the complex, but was located by an attendant in another shop after which he was brought out and beaten, while the phones were recovered from him.

The self-acclaimed evangelist, who clutched a copy of the Holy Bible to his chest, attributed the incident to the work of the devil, adding that his attempt to get money to treat his seven-year-old son, who is on admission in a hospital in Osun State, pushed him into committing the crime.

Durojaiye, a father of four, said the son, whose name he gave as Oluwadurosinmi, jumped down from a two-storey building in Ilare-Ijesa and was hospitalised because of the injuries he sustained.

He also claimed that his wife had divorced him and left him to take care of the children alone.

The man was later released due to the intervention of some persons in the neighbourhood, who had thronged the scene of the incident.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham receives death threats after penalty shootout miss

Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham was racially abused and sent death threats after Wednesday night's penalty shootout miss against Liverpool.

The England striker, 21, was last to take for Frank Lampard’s Blues in the Super Cup final defeat in Istanbul on Wednesday night.

Abraham’s spot-kick was saved by Liverpool No2 Adrian - though replays later revealed the keeper was off his line as the penalty was struck.

But as Chelsea missed out on their first chance at silverware this season, with Lampard losing for the second time on the bounce, Abraham was targeted online.

Kick It Out published a statement on Twitter yesterday confirming the racial abuse sent to the English forward.

They wrote: “Last night we received reports of racist abuse directed at Tammy Abraham on social media after Chelsea's UEFA Super Cup match.

“Such abuse is now increasingly predictable, but no less disgusting.

“We send our support to Tammy and reiterate our call for Twitter and other social companies to clamp down on this level of abuse.

“This is a call to action - we want to know what they are going to do to tackle this insidious problem.”

After the shootout defeat, one Twitter user said:  "@tammyabraham is a f***ing n*****."

Another said: "you f****** black **** you ruined my night."

Shocking! Over 6,000 Nigerians under crime investigation in South Africa

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Kabir Bala, says over 6,000 Nigerians are being investigated for various crimes in the country.

Kabir revealed this on Wednesday while speaking to Channels Television at his office.

The envoy who explained that the crimes range from drug-related offences to murder, fraud and armed robbery noted that the statistics were from the South African Police Service.

“We have to look at it from a proper perspective so that we don’t tilt the balance. And then we overlook the fact that some of our nationals engage in things that are not legal here.

“We have 6, 089 of them having cases that are being concluded or investigated and some of them in prison, we have them,” he said.

The diplomat, however, explained that the accused persons whether Nigerians or other nationals have the right to a fair trial, before being convicted if guilty in line with the laws.

His remark follows a meeting of the heads of Nigeria’s two missions in South Africa in Pretoria today, on the country’s crime statistics as it is related to Nigerian citizens.

Bala who was accompanied by the Consul General Mister Godwin Adama to that meeting said the figures were quite shocking but they got to raise their issues of concern as well.

Photos: 35-year old man dies during marathon s-x with 50-year-old widow in Kenya 😳😳😳

Residents of a village in Uasin Gishu County woke up to a rude shock on Monday after a 35-year-old man died in mysterious circumstances while having s-x with a 50-year-old widow.

Julius Kiptoo is said to have been on a drinking spree until late night at a local bar on Sunday at Sachangwan near Eldoret International Airport before hooking up with the woman whose name could not be immediately established.

On Monday morning, shocked residents were trooping to a maize plantation where the duo was having their romp to view the lifeless body of the young man.

The woman narrated to detectives who arrived at the scene how the young man became obsessed with nonstop s-x after swallowing a s-x booster pill.

“We were headed to the house but he became impatient and demanded that we do it at the maize plantation. However, he started becoming sick in the process before dying instantly,” said the visibly shaken woman who has grown children.

She said that she later called neighbours who confirmed that the young man, who does menial jobs in the village, had died.

Police from the nearby Kiambaa Police station who arrived at the scene moved the body to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Mortuary.

The woman was on the receiving end from irate villagers who blasted her for being a bad example to young women in the village by moving with younger men.

“This is very embarrassing. We look up to such women for guidance but they are the ones spoiling young people,” said Susan Jerotich, a resident.

South Africa announces visa waivers to boost tourism and oh well... Nigeria is not included in the countries

South Africa on Thursday announced visa waivers for four countries in a bid to boost tourism amid an economic crisis and falling visitor numbers and well our precious Nigeria was excluded.

Visitors from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and New Zealand will no longer require a visa to visit for holiday, conferencing and business purposes, Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi said.

The unilateral decision comes as official tourism figures released in May reflected a dip in the overall number of visitors to South Africa from Europe and the Middle East in the first financial quarter of the year, normally one of the most popular times to visit.

Foreign traveller arrivals decreased by more than 10 percent between April and May 2019 alone.

Birds make Russian plane carrying 226 passengers crash-land, 23 injured

A Russian passenger jet flew into a flock of birds then crash-landed in a cornfield just outside a Moscow airport today.

The Ural Airlines Airbus A321 was carrying 226 passengers and a crew of seven from Moscow's Zhukovsky airport to Simferopol -- a city on the Crimean Peninsula -- when it ran into trouble.

Shortly after takeoff, the plane "struck a flock of gulls," according to an official from the Federal Air Transport Agency, TASS reported.

"Some of the birds were sucked into its engines," he added.

The official told TASS that the emergency landing took place in a field less than a kilometer (0.62 miles) away from the airport's runway.

Twenty-three people, including five children, have been hospitalized, TASS reported.

Boxing Legend Mike Tyson admits spending nearly $40k on weed every month

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is revealing how he spends his earnings.

During an episode of his podcast Hotboxin’, Tyson invited rapper Jim Jones on to discuss the musician’s fledging cannabis business, Saucey.

When Jones explained that it made sense for him to invest in the marijuana industry considering how often he buys the product for his own personal use, Tyson then admitted that he spends a whopping $40,000 a month on marijuana, himself.

“What do we smoke a month?” Tyson, 53, asked his co-host, Eben Britton. “Is it $40,000 a month? It’s 40, yeah, $40,000 a month.”

“We smoke 10 tons of weed at the ranch a month,” Britton added. “Ain’t that crazy?”

According to The Blast, Tyson, too, has invested in the cannabis industry, and is planning to open his very own ranch to grow high-quality strains of THC and CBD, while “implementing cutting-edge technology to advance the research on the health benefits of marijuana.”

Tyson first broke ground on the 40-acre facility, located in California City, in December.

According to The Blast, 20 acres of Tyson’s ranch is dedicated to agriculture, while another section of the grounds will be devoted to the Tyson Cultivation School, to help cannabis breeders learn the best techniques for growing their plants.

“I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no brainer,” Tyson told Cannabis Tech Today of his business.

Zimbabwe FA bans its former president for life

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) says it has banned its former president Philip Chiyangwa for life for "bringing Zimbabwean football into disrepute."

In a statement, Zifa accused Chiyangwa of "unilaterally submitting an incomplete bid document" to host this year's Cosafa Cup "without getting a government guarantee."

Zimbabwe reneged on an agreement to stage the event, with South Africa taking over as hosts.

Zifa now faces a ban and a hefty fine from Cosafa for pulling out of hosting the southern African tournament.

Chiyangwa lost his position as Zifa president last year, but is currently the president of Cosafa, the southern African regional body.

His Zifa ban, which comes into immediate effect, means he will no longer be allowed entry into all Zifa sanctioned football matches played in Zimbabwe, football meetings, conferences and any football related activity in the country.

There has been no response so far from Chinyangwa to Zifa's statement.
