Horrific moment armed robbers shoot a British father, 50, dead and injure his stepson, 28, outside a five-star hotel in Argentina
The tourist, named locally as millionaire property boss Matthew Charles Gibbard, 50, was gunned down by motorbike-riding thugs in an ambush in Buenos Aires on Saturday morning.
His stepson Stefan Joshua Zone, 28, was shot in the leg after the pair refused to hand over their luggage and tried to fight off the robbers outside the Faena Art Hotel.
CCTV footage shows one of the crooks flying off a motorcycle to tackle one of the Britons to the ground, before the other man, believed to be Mr Gibbard, bravely rushes in to kick an assailant.
There is a ferocious struggle for their bags before shots are fired by an attacker with a pistol.
A man, believed to be Mr Zone, is seen writhing in agony clutching his thigh after the first shot is seen.
Mr Gibbard can be seen attempting to grapple with one of the motorbike-riders before he too is shot and then moves off screen.
According to local media a bullet fatally passed through Mr Gibbard's right armpit and possibly penetrated his lung.
Meanwhile, Mr Zone was rushed to hospital and remains in a serious condition after he was shot in the thigh.
Mr Gibbard was head of retirement homes company Tingdene which has an annual turnover of £20million.
He was married to 52-year-old Suzanne and the family home is in Kettering, Northamptonshire.
Becky Miles, who works at local pub Snooty Fox, sobbed as she told The Sun: 'It's absolutely terrible, they are lovely people. They were regulars in the pub.
'Matt was such a beautiful, beautiful human being and a true gentleman. He did so much for the village and even put the firework display on himself
'They are a very successful family and very popular in the village.'
Three ambulances had scrambled to the scene, with one medic explaining: 'We took him to the Hospital Argerich, his condition is serious, he has serious injuries because he has had bloodshed.'

Olanrewaju also confirmed that Dr. Victoria Adebiyi was until her death the Head of department, Dramatic Art.
The sad loss comes barely 48 hours after the death of Prof.Jerome Elusiyan, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, who was shot dead while traveling between Ekpoma and Benin.

Border closure not breaching free trade agreement– FG
Nanono said that the measure was designed to protect Nigeria and its citizens from the nefarious activities of smugglers and other economic saboteurs at the borders.
He said yesterday that “free trade does not mean Nigeria has to be a dumping ground for everything imported by others. These products are not even from all these countries involved. So, why should they be feasting on us?
“Nigeria controls 60 to 70 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the West African sub-region. So, Nigeria’s economy still remains a buffer zone for the sub-region.
“Besides, most of the people that come into this country and melt into the population from the n sub-region come in because this country is accommodating them. This happens to the extent that some of these people when they migrate into this country, you do not even know that they are immigrants.
“For example, people from the Niger Republic when they come into Kano State, what will differentiate them from the people of Kano, or those from the Benin Republic who come into Oyo State or Osun State. They look like us.
“This situation creates a problem, and the border closure is a measure that has gone a long way in solving it,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The minister said that the federal government was holding talks with the affected countries to ensure that they kept to the terms of the free trade agreement.
He said the border closure was not meant to hurt anybody, noting that “it was a decision taken after careful deliberation and series of attempts by the government to get the neighbouring countries to check the illegal activities at the borders.’’
Nanono pointed out that a lot of activities were going on at the borders which were not in the interest of Nigeria and her citizens.

Zimbabwe vice president's wife arrested for suspected fraud, money laundering
Marry Mubaiwa was arrested on Saturday evening and will likely appear in court on Monday, ZACC spokesman John Makamure said. He declined to give further details.
Mubaiwa could not be reached for comment on Sunday.

Legendary Indian actress Siddharth Gita is dead
The actress is best known for her role in MS Sathyu’s 1973 classic ‘Garm Hava’. While Sathyu’s effort won an Indian National Award as Best Feature Film on National Integration, she received a souvenir at the ceremony for her role as Amina in the film.
Kak made her debut in Gulzar’s 1972 film, ‘Parichay’, starring Jeetendra and Jaya Bhaduri. She was a familiar face on the Bollywood screen of the 70s and 80s, featuring in films such as ‘Sholay’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Disco Dancer’, ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ and ‘Nooriea’.
She was married to producer and documentary filmmaker Siddharth Kak, who is known for his popular culture show ‘Surabhi’, which aired on Doordarshan from 1990 to 2001. Gita was an art director on the show.

Man arrested for beating Ikorodu 'Actor' to death
Bala Elkana, Police’s spokesman said on Saturday, at about 2.00pm that Ekuma of No 59 Ajipon Street, Ohio, Ogun State, submitted himself to the Police in Ikorodu that he was in his shop the previous day at about 7.00pm along Sabo road by Kokoro Abu, Ikorodu, when one dry cleaner beside his shop, popularly known as Actor attacked him with iron rod as a result of an argument that ensued between them earlier in the day that was resolved by neighbours.
Ekuma reportedly pushed the said actor, who fell down and was rushed to Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment but died while on admission.
Elkana said the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
“The suspect is placed in custody for discreet investigation by homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba,” he said.

Models recruiting scammers arrested in Lagos (photo)
The suspects, Stanley Odachi, 27 and Chuks Oragwu, 31 were arrested recently while they were luring another victim to an hotel in Igando, Alimosho, Lagos.
As at the time of their arrest on Wednesday, about five girls have registered their complaints with the Decoy Team of the RRS that the suspects absconded with their mobile phones and money under the pretext of registering them for modelling jobs.
About four other young models refused to press charges. Two other victims stated that they were having examination in school and could not make formal complaint.
All the suspects, who are still in and out of school stated that they encountered the suspects on Instagram through the advertisements on their handles requesting young models to enlist with their agency for modelling contract.
The victims added that they were subsequently asked to report at hotels, where they were made to surrender their mobile phones, which the suspects escaped with.
According to one of the victims, who wants to be identified as Betty, she saw an advertisement on benitamodellers, an Instagram handle managed by Chuks Oragwu, requesting for models to register with them for a contract.
“I sent friend request to him. We got chatting. Eventually, my friend and I were asked to show up at a shopping complex opposite International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos – Badagry Expressway. We were four girls in attendance.
“This one, pointing to Oragwu, conned us into surrendering our mobile phones after making us to fill a form and our measurement taken. He took pictures of each of us with our phones. He told us he was taking the photos to his boss upstairs. That was the last we saw of him.”
Another victim, an undergraduate of a prominent private university based in Ibadan, who could not visit Lagos because of her classes stated that, apart from her iPhone, the two suspects, who acted as manager and personal assistant collected N50,000 from her when she visited them at their hotel in Igando, Lagos.
Confirming the allegations levelled against them, Stanley Odachi, the leader of the gang stated that he opened an Instagram account boldandbeautiful sometime in 2018 to attract young models. “I created an advertisement on it setting age limits. With time, I started receiving friendship request from young models seeking contracts.
“I engaged them through the handle. I gave them my phone contact and we would arrange meetings with them. I use big shopping complexes, bars and restaurants and hotels as our meeting venues. Most of our meeting venues are around Ojo, Igando and Ajegunle.
“When the victims are gathered, we made them fill forms. We measure them and persuade them into surrendering their phones for us to take their pictures so that we can show our bosses. At times, we may be unlucky that some of them would decline to release their mobile phones for us.
“Apparently, our targets are their mobile phones. For those that would release, we take it upstairs and from there we flee,” he added.
“When my Instagram handle was blocked, I teamed up with Chuks Oragwu, who acted as my Personal Assistant whenever it was my deal and we interchanged roles whenever it was his job. He has his own Instagram handle, benitamodellers, which has not been blocked.
“We sell our phone to Emeka Mmegwa, who sell them to people at the Alaba International Market. We don’t normally request for money except on few instances,” he stated.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu advised Lagosians to be cautious about the kind of business transactions they engage in on social media, especially with strangers and unconfirmed sources. He added that Lagos would not be a breeding ground for criminals.
The two suspects along with their receiver have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations and prosecution.

Two district heads in Kano dismissed over disloyalty
The council made the resolution during its second meeting presided over by the Emir of Karaye, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar II at his palace in Karaye.
This was contained in a statement by the Information Officer of Karaye Emirate Council, Alhaji Haruna Gunduwawa on Sunday in Kano.
“The council has approved the appointment of Alhaji Auwalu Ahmad as District Head of Rimin Gado, Magajin Rafin Karaye, as District Head of Kiru and Alhaji Garba Alhaji as Dan Madamjn Karaye,” he said.
Gunduwawa said the council has also approved the appointment of Malam Shehu Ahmed as District Head of Karaye among others.

They were three dolls that he had wrapped up in glitter-flecked paper and customised.
Meghan recalled: "When I was about seven, I had been fawning over a boxed set of Barbie dolls.
Having a Caucasian father and an African American mother , she didn't know which box she fitted into so she left it blank in despair.
The incident made Thomas so enraged his 'eyes popped' and his skin turn blotchy and red, he then told Meghan to 'draw her own box.'
So when at Toys R Us faced with the boxes of dolls in front of him, Thomas 'broke the rules' and took them apart to make a custom family for his little girl.
Meghan continued: "On Christmas morning, swathed in glitter-flecked wrapping paper, there I found my Heart Family: a black mom doll, a white dad doll, and a child in each color.
"My dad had taken the sets apart and customized my family.
"I picture him standing there in Toys R Us, moms glaring at him for taking the toys apart, perhaps an employee saying 'excuse me sir, you can’t do that' — as my dad carefully separated the boxed sets to make one that echoed my reality.
"One that showed me that I should (and could) make my own box."
Meanwhile, this Christmas will be Harry and Meghan's first as parents to Archie.
They are spending it in California with the Duchess's mum, Doria Ragland.
