Nigerians drag Buhari over new fuel price, electricity tariff

Twitter is currently agog with Nigerians calling out and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari following the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and the hike in electricity tariff to N66 per kwh.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) set a pump price of N162 for petrol in the south-west region.

This followed the increase of the ex-depot price for the product by the Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of NNPC. The price was increased from N138 to N151.

Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) across the country also began on 1 September the implementation of a new electricity tariff regime of N66 per kwh.

However, the moves have led a great number of aggrieved Nigerians to start dragging the President on Twitter, describing those moves as cruel and callous.

Stella Immanuel celebrates clearance by Texas Medical Board

Controversial US-based physician, Dr Stella Immanuel, is rejoicing over the dismissal of the complaints against her following her claim that hydroxychloroquine can cure COVID-19 ‎by the Texas Medical Board.

Dr Immanuel announced that she has been cleared of the allegation in a post on her Facebook page on Wednesday

She also attached the letter of clearance from the Texas Medical Board which she asked her haters to “read and weep.”

She said, ‎”Texas medical board dismisses the complaint against me. The haters have been defeated and God has shown Himself as my protector and defender. God bless TMB, God bless Texas, God bless America. Good will win. American will win. Haters read and weep.”

In the letter, the Board indicated that the investigation was dismissed because there was insufficient evidence to prove that she violated Medical Practices Act.

“As such, this complaint has been dismissed without prejudice. No further action will be taken concerning this complaint,” the Board said in the letter.

Immanuel had early August through a tweet announced that the Texas Medical Board had opened an investigation into her claim that the anti-malaria drug can cure COVID-19.

This followed an early warning by the Board that it will take action against any complaint about false, misleading or deceptive advertising for COVID-19 cure under its standard enforcement process.

In the tweet confirming that the Board has begun investigating her, the Huston based doctor had also solicited for donations to fund her legal efforts.

Immanuel attracted global attention in July 2020 when a video of her touting hydroxychloroquine as a cure for Covid-19 went viral taken in company of other medical doctors went viral.

Man charged to court for entering Obasanjo’s farmland

A 60-year-old man, Ibrahim Ibuoye has been arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ota for allegedly trespassing on the farmland belonging to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Ota.

Ibuoye was charged on four counts bordering on breach of peace, forceful entry, causing damages and conspiracy.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the police prosecutor Rosemary Samson, the defendant and others at large allegedly committed the offences on August 26, 2020, at the Obasanjo Farm Limited, Ota.

Samson said the defendant and his accomplices were armed with weapons and allegedly conspired among themselves and forced their way into the farm, thereby conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

The court also heard that a Honda Accord belonging to a man named Kazeem Ajiboye was allegedly damaged by the defendant.

The alleged offences, according to the prosecution, contravened sections 81, 390(9), 451 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Magistrate B. S. Abdulsalam admitted Mr Ibuoye to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate further directed that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

Also, the sureties must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the court, while the case was adjourned till September 14 for hearing.

24 year-old woman found dead with unborn baby cut out of her at ‘fake baby shower’

A pregnant woman was found dead with her baby cut out of her body after allegedly being lured by an old school friend to a fake baby shower.

The woman has been identified locally as Flavia Godinho Mafra and was believed to be 36 weeks pregnant when she died in Canelinha, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

According to NSC Total, the partner of her school friend admitted using a brick to kill her after luring her to the murder scene on the pretence of a baby shower.

The detective responsible for the case, Paulo Alexandre Freyesleben e Silva, confirmed the cause of death of the 24-year-old victim was a sharp cut to the abdomen and wounds from a brick, G1 newspaper reported.

The body was reportedly found by the victim's husband and mother at around 9 am on August 28.

It had been dumped in an abandoned pottery yard with the baby missing.

Police later learned the baby had been taken to hospital by the suspect and her husband, who were both arrested.

The arrested woman, who was an old school friend of the victim, reportedly told the police officer she had lost a child due to a miscarriage in January and had become obsessed with stealing a child.

The baby girl remains in hospital where she has been given antibiotics and pain medication for the injuries sustained when she was allegedly ripped from her mother's belly.

The autopsy will confirm if the baby was removed while her mother was alive or if she was already dead.

Flavia, who studied pedagogy and worked as a substitute teacher, was buried in the Municipal Cemetery of Canelinha after a brief ceremony.

She claims she made $10,000 (£5,496) in the first three days.

Without a doubt, Tara’s most shocking feature is her lips.

‘I’ve definitely lost count of how much product is in there!

DSS reportedly quizzes Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage over alleged political comments against Buhari

The Department of State Services, DSS, has reportedly quizzed Music producer, Don Jazzy and singer Tiwa Savage over social media comments against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)

Tiwa Savage was reportedly invited by DSS for questioning alongside Don Jazzy at their Lagos office.

There are reports that the invitation may be connected to her campaign, ‘WeAreTired’, on social media over the increase in rape cases in Nigeria and political utterance against Buhari’s government.

Recall that Tiwa and Don Jazzy had called out the Buhari-led administration over the state of the nation.

According to SaharaReporters, the mother of one and Don Jazzy were invited to the Lagos office of the DSS where they were warned to be mindful of the kind of posts they share on social media..

Also, it was reported that singers Yemi Alade and Waje were also invited by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu.

Muazu warned them to stop making political comments that could anger the Buhari government.

COVID-19: Allow me heal them all – T.B Joshua to government

Prophet T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has called on the government to gather COVID-19 patients in their different isolation centres for healing.

Joshua said he wants to reach out to those in isolation centres for interactive prayers, while recounting how he had healed many in different countries.

Another Nollywood actor, Chief Kanran weeps as he begs for funds[Video]

Veteran Nollywood actor, Olusegun Akinremi, popularly known as Chief Kanran is currently soliciting for help to improve his living conditions after he lost his home to a fire incident in 2017.

From the video shared online, the veteran actor was a guest on a programme hosted by popular Yoruba radio talk show host, Kola Olootu.

During the programme, the popular script interpreter narrated how things started working against him when his home got burnt with all studio equipment worth N30million, and wife and children deserted him.

Amidst hot tears rolling down his cheeks, Chief Kanran noted that he was almost begging on the streets for food but for his status as a star.

According to him, he is not begging for the money to feed but for some money to start his work again as an artiste again.

“Seven years ago, things got bad for me. I was not ill and whatever will make me ill and people will start contributing for me, I thank God that it did not happen to me. However, what is currently happening to me is more than being ill. In 2017, my home got burnt from top to down and my wife and children deserted me.”

“My studio, where all my equipment are, also got burnt. Since the incident happened over a year ago, I have been sleeping in my church as I don’t have money to rent an apartment. Feeding has also been difficult for me. All my four cars are no longer with me. I sold one to feed, one got burnt, another one got knocked,” he said.

However, Nigerians were already supporting the veteran actor by sending money to his account number while some also promised to come to his aid.

Nigeria Records 239 New cases of COVID-19, total now 54,247

Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 239 new cases of the novel coronavirus, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.

The health agency revealed this in a late-night tweet.

The country now has a total of 54,247 confirmed cases, with 42,010 persons discharged and 1,023 deaths.

Plateau reported the highest number of cases with 116 while the Federal Capital Territory ranked second with 33 new infections.

Other states with new cases include Lagos-19, Ekiti-12, Kaduna-11, Ogun-11, Ebonyi-8, Benue-7, Abia-5, Delta-5, Ondo-4, Edo-3, Imo-2, Osun-2, and Bauchi-1.

1,696 positive COVID-19 patients yet to turn up for admission in Lagos

 Lagos State Health Commissioner Prof. Akin Abayomi has announced that 1,696 COVID-19 patients are yet to turn up for admission at the COVID-19 care centres.

Abayomi, who stated this on Tuesday on his official Twitter account @ProfAkinAbayomi, said the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infection in Lagos is now 18,131 as of August 29.

“One thousand, six hundred and ninety-six active cases in communities are yet to turn up for admission in #COVID19Lagos care centres.

“H21 new #COVID19 infections were confirmed in Lagos on August 29, out of a total 422 #COVID19 tests conducted, 2,378 of the confirmed cases have however been discharged from #COVID19 Care Centres following full recovery.

“The new cases bring the total number of confirmed #COVID19 infections in Lagos to 18,131.

“The total number of #COVID19 tests conducted so far in Lagos now stands at 85,782,” he stated.

Abayomi also added that 3,803 of the confirmed cases monitored in communities by COVID-19 Lagos Response Team have either fully recovered or positively responding to treatments.

“Fifty of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private care centres.

“In total, Lagos has conducted 85,782 samples for COVID-19, records 204 deaths as the number of confirmed cases stand at 18,131.

The Presidential Taskforce on Monday announced that the decrease in the nationwide COVID-19 cases was due to low testing.

Dad kills wife and two sons‘because he had a headache and was tired of them yelling’

A dad allegedly killed his wife and two teenage sons "because he had a headache and was tired of them yelling."

James Lee Webb, 57, was arrested and charged with capital murder after calling the cops on himself on Monday. 

Webb and his wife, Victoria Ronack Bunton, began arguing at around 10am this morning after he complained of having a headache and that her sons, aged 13 and 16, were being too loud, according to the affidavit.

During the argument Webb allegedly produced a handgun and shot Bunton, before killing both of the teenagers.

Webb waited one hour and then called 911 and confessed, the document states. When cops arrived they took him into custody.

When he was later interviewed, Webb allegedly told a detective that he was tired of his family yelling at him and telling him there was nothing wrong with him.

He is currently being held at Lew Sterrett Jail and his bond will be determined by a Dallas County Magistrate.

Woman dies during river baptism after being grabbed by 'mermaids'

In a tragic turn of events, a 26 year old Seke woman drowned in Manyame River, Zimbabwe  during a cleansing ceremony.

The people who were with her believed that she had been grabbed by a mermaid thus they didn’t try to rescue her.

Rutendo Nhemachena is believed to have been possessed by a mermaid spirit before she turned violent and jumped into the river where the leading prophet, Isaac Manyemba, 50, was cleansing men and women with his aide only identified as Mai Manyika or Madzimai Jennifer.

Manyemba and Manyika were reportedly overpowered by  Nhemachena who plunged to her death. 

Manyemba confirmed the tragic event saying Nhemachena overpowered him and seemed like she was possessed by a mermaid spirit.

    “The two convinced me and I led them to the river where we attended to a number of men and women when Nhemachena suddenly came into the river possessed.

    “She pushed all of us and we failed to handle her before she immersed me and disappeared into the water.

He said they believed she was abducted by a mermaid and they decided to wait for 3pm but she failed to show up

    “We were comforted by one woman who claimed that her child was once taken by a mermaid when he was seven years old and returned from water at the age of 14.

Another person told them that her child had been grabbed by a mermaid as well and came back after one week.

    “Pakataurwa zvakawanda nezve vanhu vainzi vakatorwa nenjuzu vakazodzoka uye iye mufi uyu hanzi akambopinda akazobuda after 3 hours.

Manyemba then informed  the Mayambara village head why advised him to take the issue to Chitungwiza police station. 

Nhemachena family spokesperson Patience Gwebede  denied suggestions that the deceased was abducted by a mermaid.

She said the deceased was going to be buried in Chihota after a post mortem.

Chioma Akpotha joins Funke Akindele’s Omo Ghetto set

Chioma Akpotha has joined the set of Funke Akindele-Bello’s much-anticipated film, ‘Omo Ghetto’ the saga.

Akpotha was spotted filming with Akindele-Bello’s collaborator on the forthcoming episode of the Omo Ghetto series.

The actress joins Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Thomas to play the character of Chummy Choko in the upcoming film. While Akindele-Bello, Badmus, and Thomas retain their title of Lefty, Busty, and Nikky, respectively.

In 2019, Akindele-Bello dropped the hint of returning to film another episode of the title after 10 years of the last release. Though she didn’t give much information, the actress cum producer affirmed the plans to film another episode of the well-received film.

In December 2019, Akindele-Bello returned to the set to film some of the scenes of the film in Dubai alongside her collaborator, Eniola Badmus. She also added a new face, Paschaline Alex to the set.

Also expected to feature in the upcoming film is a popular singer, Naira Marley. According to Funke Akindele, Naira Marley will make a cameo appearance.

The actress confirmed casting Marley in the film earlier in the year.

23 year-old woman ends up with a ‘cone’ bum after botched butt lift surgery in Turkey [photos]

A young woman has been left with a "cone" of fat on her bum after getting a botched Brazilian butt lift abroad.

Shannon Davies, 23, chose to go under the knife at a clinic in Istanbal, Turkey - which can't be named for legal reasons - after seeing online influencers recommend it. 

The salon owner initially forked out £5,000 for a procedure in 2018, plus a breast uplift and augmentation, but has since returned TWICE due to shocking results.

Shannon, from Pontypridd, Wales, pleaded with the surgeon to remove the excess fat from her behind but woke to find she had undergone another butt lift surgery.

She no has to wear size 18 trousers, as her "lumpy" and "uneven" butt doesn’t fit into her old size 12 jeans.

She said: “I’ve always been up and down with my weight and my boobs started to sag.

“I had no bum and I just wanted a nice curvy body to fill out my clothes.

“But now I am left with a lumpy bottom and super wide hips as the fat which was injected for the BBL has leaked into my thighs and hips.

“I regret ever going ahead with the surgery but I just wanted a quick fix.

“It seemed like the easy option but I should have just gone to the gym.”

Shannon recalls feeling like she was in an "oven" when she woke from the first surgery in July 2018.

Her nipple was purple and she felt like her chest was going to burst open.

She adds: “I woke up from surgery and I was screaming in pain - it was unbearable.

"I knew something was wrong and I could tell by the look on the surgeons face when he saw my nipple.

“He removed my nipple and left it hanging on by one thread - I am not too sure how this was supposed to help but I was willing to do anything to avoid losing my nipple.’

Shannon visited her local nurse every two days to have the stitches and dressing changed for four months after the surgery.

She said: “I couldn’t wear a bra as it was so painful and my boobs completely dropped.

She said: “He took my money and all he did was stitch up my boobs again.

“I have been left with horrendous scarring and barely any confidence.

“I wanted surgery so I can feel good in my own skin but now I dread summer as I have to cover up.

“My nipples are too high up and my bottom half is too big.

“I am so embarrassed and wish I had done my research!

“I should have waited until I was older!”

Civil servant smuggles brother’s name on payroll, promotes him to GL14

A senior civil servant, Mohammed Ndanusa has been arrested in Minna, Niger state after he was found to have smuggled his brother’s name in government’s payroll, since 2009.

Ndanusa, who was working for the Ministry of Health collected the brother’s salary for about 11 years, until the bubble burst on Tuesday.

He even arranged to promote the brother several times, from Grade Level 10 to Grade level 14.

Ndanusa’s brother Tanimu, was all along a motorcyclist in Minna and was not qualified to be on the level, his brother crookedly arranged in his name.

Ndanusa’s 11 year-fraud was busted when he asked the “Okada-rider” brother, Tanimu Ndanusa to appear for screening.

The Niger State government is at present embarked on a physical verification of all civil servants.

P.M.NEWS learnt that when Tanimu Ndanusa appeared before the panel, he did not come with any certificate. And he could not even speak, like a senior civil servant on Level 14.

Members of the screening committee were stunned and called the police.

The two brothers, Mohammed Ndanusa and Tanimu Ndanusa have been arrested by the police.

Mohammed Ndanusa has confessed to the crime.

Erica made the remark while discussing with her love interest, Kiddwaya.

The actress, who was excited that she won Kiddwaya during their ‘Ayo game’, was asked if she had played the game with Laycon.

Reacting, Erica said she doesn’t play games with her enemies.
