Australian model is jailed for series of crimes including shoplifting and robbery

An Australian Instagram model with sticky fingers and a penchant for posing as Catwoman has been jailed after being arrested for the second time this year for a series of crimes including masked robberies and shoplifting, according to a report.

Monique Agostino, 25, was warned by Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge last year that her life was “going down the toilet,” leading Agostino to make a veiled threat that if she harmed herself in jail, it would be the jurist’s fault.

She told Milledge that she had “anxiety and depression” behind bars but the judge told her that she could not keep blaming others for her bad decisions.

The former modeling entrepreneur, real estate agent and social media influencer began her life of crime about two years ago when she drove several teenagers to commit burglaries in Sydney.

The busty blonde who has posted on Instagram as Catwoman and the boys wore masks as they used a chisel to break open doors to businesses, including the Pound of Pizza restaurant on Nov. 6, 2018, when they were captured on video.

She also tried breaking into a House of Fruit convenience store and the nearby Le Parisien Café and also reportedly took part in a break-in at the Stanley Street Café, where $300 and a credit card were stolen.

Agostino was reported to have used the card to buy $11.55 worth of food at a McDonald’s.

About two weeks later, she was involved in a raid at the Forestville Bakery, where $1,000 was stolen.

Agostino was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison and also was convicted of carrying a knife at a Target store, possession of crystal meth and stealing a $90 jacket at a shopping center, according to the outlet.

She appealed the sentence’s severity and was released on bail early this year — but before a court hearing in July, Agostino was stopped by police on an outstanding warrant that she had violated her bail conditions.

Agostino’s appeal was later adjourned until Aug. 26, but when she didn’t show up in court, her motion was dismissed and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested again on Sept. 5.

Her lawyer, Pawel Kulisiewicz, who applied to reinstate the appeal, told Judge Dina Yehia that his client’s offenses had been “amateur hour” and that “they were always going to get caught.”

The judge reduced Agostino’s sentence to a maximum 12 months with a six-month non-parole period.

With time served, she will be due for release from the Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre in October.

Ex-Banker sues... claims she was constantly s3xually harassed by her s.e.x-obsessed boss

A junior analyst at an investment bank was regularly harassed by her s3x-obsessed boss and was fired shortly after she caught him masturbating in a conference room, according to an explosive lawsuit.

Logan Williams, who worked as a first-year analyst in the New York office of Marathon Capital, claims that her ex-boss, managing director Chuck Hinckley, regularly screamed at her to “shut up,” shared unwelcome details about his s3x life and got too close to her at the office during the pandemic.

Williams, a Coast Guard veteran and Columbia grad, also names Marathon’s chief executive Ted Brandt in the complaint filed in the US Southern District of New York, claiming he ran a “boy’s club” at Marathon, which had 10 men and no women on its senior leadership team.

While one director called Williams “little missy,” another told her she needed to be “more ladylike,” according to court papers. She was also “inappropriately ogled by a supervisor” at the firm who, according to the suit, “just stared at her breasts during conversations.” Brandt himself asked Williams to “invite her model friends to the firm’s Christmas party,” the suit claims.

Williams claims Hinckley regularly complained that his wife no longer had s3x with him, making him a regular user of so-called “sugar daddy” s3x web sites. Throughout the pandemic, Williams says she went into the office to work with Hinckley. He lived in Connecticut but during the week stayed in a New York hotel, which he allegedly used to “entertain prostitutes,” according to the suit.

On July 13, Williams allegedly texted Brandt and operating chief Philippe Lavertu that she planned to work from home more because Hinckley had forced her to share an office and followed her if she moved around, invading her space.

Ten days later, Williams says she told Hinckley she was coming into Marathon’s Midtown office at 450 Lexington Ave. to pick up some things and show him a presentation. Upon entering a conference room that Hinckley had taken over as his personal office, Williams says that she found her boss masturbating and “observed an extremely surprised look” on his face.

As Hinckley was “desperately trying to push his penis back into his pants with his left hand,” the suit claims he “was simultaneously moving his computer mouse with his right hand, apparently in an effort to close whatever was open (probably pornography) on his screen.”

A short time after, Hinckley “called out to Ms. Williams and – acting like nothing had happened – insisted that she sit down with him to discuss work matters with her for over an hour,” according to the suit.

Williams attached to her complaint text messages she claims show that she immediately reached out to multiple people about the incident. “Pants down and all?” one managing director replied. “Hostile work environment.” “Omg hahaha,” another executive replied.

Williams also contends that she reported the incident to senior management and HR, prompting an investigation.

A month later, Williams texted Brandt and Laverut, writing, “you are bank rolling a hotel for the bankers to bring young prostitutes, and your friends are masturbating in front of me.” She also challenged Brandt’s protection of Hinckley, typing “Ted, he can’t even keep his wiener out of his hand from 9 to 5.”

Two days later, Williams was fired.

“It is unfortunate that our former employee has resorted to making baseless allegations that are nothing more than a desperate attempt to extract an undue payment,” a Marathon spokesperson said in a statement, declining to comment further.

Missouri governor who refused to make masks compulsory tests positive for coronavirus

Missouri Governor Mike Parson, a Republican who has steadfastly refused to require residents to wear masks, tested positive for the coronavirus, his office said Wednesday.

Parson was tested after his wife, Teresa, tested positive earlier in the day. Teresa Parson had experienced mild symptoms, including a cough and nasal congestion, spokeswoman Kelli Jones said. She took a rapid test that came back positive and a nasal swab test later confirmed the finding. The governor's rapid test showed he tested positive and he is still awaiting results from the swab test.

'I want everybody to know that myself and the first lady are both fine,' Parson said in a video posted on his Facebook page.

'Right now I feel fine. No symptoms of any kind,' Parson said in the video. 'But right now we just have to take the quarantine procedures in place.'

Parson is self-isolating in the governor's mansion while his wife is isolating at their home in Bolivar in southwestern Missouri.

Parson has repeatedly urged residents to wear masks and maintain social distancing, but he has been an outspoken opponent of mask mandates, sometimes appearing at functions without one. In July, speaking without a mask at a Missouri Cattlemen´s Association steak fry in Sedalia, he reiterated his stance.

'You don´t need government to tell you to wear a dang mask,' he said. 'If you want to wear a dang mask, wear a mask.'

Factory caught washing, ‘recycling’ and re-selling over 300,000 used condoms

A factory in Vietnam has been busted for washing and "recycling" thousands of used condoms and then selling them onto unsuspecting customers.

Police swooped on an apartment in the south of the country where they found over 300,000 unlabelled and unpackaged condoms.

The owner of the illicit facility, Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, said she had washed and then dried the condoms before remolding them on a wooden dildo.

Detectives say the woman received a weekly consignment of condoms from an unidentified person and were then repacked after being procesed.

An unknown amount of dirty contraceptives were then sold to unsuspecting members of the public, reports Vietnam Insider.

Used condoms are a major risk to the public and can led to infections as well as s.e.xually transmitted diseases.

Earlier this year it was reported that a slump in condom sales meant that Brits were shying away from s.e.x during the lockdown.

Laxman Narasimhan, the chief of Durex's parent company Reckitt Benckiser, has said that condom sales in most markets across the world, including the UK, have slumped since the pandemic began.

The firm has blamed the poor sales performance on the effect 'stay at home' policies are having on potential customers.

"Intimate occasions are going down and that is a manifestation of anxiety," Mr Narasimhan told the BBC.

Man ‘beat stepson, 7, to death with stick as mum did nothing

A man beat his seven-year-old stepson to death with a stick while the child’s mum did nothing to stop him, a court was told.

After Tony Essobti Badre, 25, allegedly carried out the attack on Giuseppe D. in Cardito, Naples, his mum Valentina Casa left him to die before finally calling for help, prosecutors say.

During a four hour indictment hearing, prosecutors in the Court of Naples in the Italian city, sought life sentences for Badre and Casa.

Prosecutors Paola Izzo and Fabio Sozio say Casa was present on the night Giuseppe was killed.

The mother is accused of leaving her dying son unattended for a long period before deciding to call the emergency services.

She also allegedly did nothing to help her two young children when she was present on previous occasions during attacks on the children.

Neighbours said that they were aware of the abuse and that Casa covered for her Italian-Tunisian partner’s alleged violence many times in the past.

Badre is accused of the voluntary murder of Giuseppe, the attempted murder of his younger sister, and the mistreatment of the family aggravated by cruelty.

The trial continues.

Fat thighs and big hips could 'lower chances of early death', says new study

A new study found having broad hips or large hips could help someone to live longer. The researchers looked into data for more than 2.5 million people.

But it found that every extra 4 inches (10cm) of waist size was associated with an 11% higher chance of dying prematurely.

However, many believe waist circumference is an indicator of obesity and risk for illnesses, such as type-2 diabetes and heart disease.

The new ground-breaking study was recently published in the British Medical Journal.

Tauseef Ahmad Khan was the study author from the department of nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Dr Khan said: "People should be more concerned about their waist rather than focusing only on weight or BMI.

"Waist is a better indicator of belly fat and while one cannot target where one loses fat from, losing weight through diet and exercise will also reduce waist and therefore belly fat.

"Belly fat is the fat that is stored around the organs in the abdomen and its excess is linked to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

"Therefore, having more belly fat can increase the risk of dying from these diseases."

The researchers found that most measures of abdominal fat were "significantly and positively associated with a higher all-cause morality risk" even after BMI was taken into account.

They said: "We found that the associations remained significant after body mass index was accounted for, which indicated that abdominal deposition of fat, independent of overall obesity, is associated with a higher risk."

Their findings suggest that thigh and hip circumference were "inversely associated with all-cause morality risk".

Each 10cm increase in hip circumference was associated with a 10% lower risk of death from all causes.

Meanwhile, Dr Khan says hip fat is considered beneficial and thigh size is an indicator of the amount of muscle.

The risks of belly fat were the same when accounting for BMI, suggesting it increases a person's chance of death regardless of their weight.

More than 70 studies, which followed more than 2.5 million people between three and 24 years, were analysed by the researchers.

According to the NHS, regardless of height or BMI, men should try to lose weight if their waist is above 37in (94cm), while for women it's above 31.5in (80cm).

We decide who visits the UK – British govt fires back at FG over visa

The UK Government has said it is surprised by the federal government’s stance, that it would consider disrespectful to Nigeria’s sovereignty, for any outside authority to sit in judgment over the conduct of its citizens and apply punitive measures such as visa restriction, unilaterally.

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, stated this while speaking at an orientation programme for people with disability seeking Chevening scholarship opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Laing made it clear the issue of visa restriction on perpetrators of electoral violence was the UK’s visa policy and they determine who travels to the country.

“It is our visa policy, the UK, and we can determine who comes to the UK. So, that is a non-sovereign right.

“And all we are saying is that in line with Nigerian policy, that those who commit violence or who incite violence, there may be an implication for that person when they apply for a visa in the UK.

“So, I think it is actually completely consistent with the Nigerian policy. This is our visa policy, but obviously, it is for Nigeria to determine how they deal with these perpetrators in Nigeria,” Laing said.

The United Kingdom has threatened to ban politicians who resort to electoral violence, ahead of the Ondo and Edo governorship elections.

UEFA Player of the Year shortlist: Messi, Ronaldo absent for first time in a decade

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are absent from the final shortlist for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for the first time in a decade.

Bayern Munich duo Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer, plus Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, were nominated for the 2020 edition on Wednesday. But in a sign of changing times in the game, Messi and Ronaldo didn’t make the top three after coming up short in the Champions League.

Barcelona star Messi won the UEFA award in 2010-11 and 2014-15 having been nominated six times in the past 10 seasons.

Ronaldo, of Juventus, has collected the accolade three times – in 2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17 – all while playing for Real Madrid.

He has been shortlisted nine times, finishing second in 2017-18 and third on five occasions. His Juventus side were stunned by Lyon in the last-16 of the Champions League as they again bombed out of Europe’s premier competition.

Messi’s Barcelona suffered an even greater humiliation, however, as eventual winners Bayern thrashed them 8-2 in the quarter-finals. Both players managed just three goals in eight Champions League outings last season, trailing 15-goal Lewandowski by a considerable distance.

The Polish striker is favourite to succeed Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as the winner of the award, which will be revealed at the draw ceremony for the Champions League group stage on October 1.

Lewandowski’s Bayern team-mate Neuer is also in the mix after another outstanding season as he helped his team win a Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League Treble.

De Bruyne inspired City’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they too lost to Lyon, but City surrendered their Premier League crown to Liverpool.

Their nominations suggest a changing of the guard as Ronaldo, 35, and Messi, 33, move beyond their prime.

It’s been an unsettled summer for Messi, who tried to engineer a move away from Barcelona to reunite with Pep Guardiola at City, only to reverse his position and stay at the Nou Camp.

Meanwhile, Bayern coach Hansi Flick has been nominated alongside Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann of RB Leipzig for the Men’s Coach of the Year award.

Flick guided Bayern to a historic Treble triumph, while Klopp’s Liverpool smashed all manner of records as they ended a 30-year wait for an English league title. Nagelsmann led his Leipzig side to the Champions League semi-finals.

The nominees for the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year are Lucy Bronze (Lyon, now Manchester City), Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg, now Chelsea) and Wendie Renard (Lyon).

Police arrest 2 suspected fake soldiers in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command is currently investigating two suspected fake soldiers who specialised in terrorising and robbing people.

The suspects, identified as Joseph Uzor and Obadeyi Quadr, were arrested on September 22 in Shagamu area of Ogun State, following a distress call received by the DPO Sakura division that four young men in Nigerian Army camouflage were causing chaos.

It was gathered that the young men suddenly alighted from a sienna bus at Sabo Market, Sagamu, causing pandemonium, beating up an elderly market woman and disrupting commercial activities in the market.

While this was going on, a serving soldier arrived at the scene and demanded the identity of the suspects.

Instead of identifying themselves, they started boarding commercial motorcycles to escape from the scene, hence the distress call to the police.

Sequel to the distress call the DPO Sakura division, CSP Dahunsi Ronald, quickly led his patrol team to the scene where two of the suspects were arrested with the help of members of the public.

It was learned that a mob descended on them, but they were rescued and whisked away from the scene by the police.

Confirming the arrest, spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said: “Two pairs of Army camouflage uniform, two pairs of black boots, one camouflage vest, one camouflage faz cap, a phone and N10,800 were recovered from the suspects.

“They are strongly suspected to be part of the robbery syndicate who used to operate in military outfit along Shagamu-Benin Expressway some of who were recently apprehended.

“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

“He equally directed an investigation into their past activities before arraigning them before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

Bayern Munich beat Sevilla 2-1 to win UEFA Super Cup

Bayern Munich have asserted their dominance in Europe beating Spanish side Sevilla to become UEFA Super Cup champions.

The German giants didn’t have it easy, however, they prevailed over the Europa Cup winners 2-1 in a fierce contest.

Sevilla got the early lead in the match from a Lucas Ocampos penalty in the 13th minute after Ivan Rakitic was fouled by David Alaba.

Bayern leveled things up before the break courtesy of Leon Goretzka’s calm finish. The German club had two goals ruled out in the second half, one for offside and the other for a foul in the build-up.

The match ended 1-1 in full time until Bayern through a sublime header from Javier Martinez got a second goal to retain their dominance as Europe Champions.

With Bayern Munich’s win today, the German side have won their second Uefa Super Cup Trophy after winning their first against Chelsea in 2013.

BBNaija: Ogun youth group drums support for Laycon

Some youths in Ogun State on Thursday walked round the state capital, Abeokuta, to seek support for the Big Brother Naija housemate, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon.

The youths walked for about four hours across major streets and markets in the state capital with the banner hashtag “Ogun Youths Walk For Laycon”, while giving away free recharge cards to passersby for voting.

Speaking to journalists during the walk, the Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC) in Ogun State, Comrade Afolabi Oluwaseyi, said Laycon is intelligent, a team player and full of talents among the other housemates.

According to him, “I am the Nigeria Youth Congress Ogun State Chairman, we are trying to move around Ogun State just to mobilize for him so that people can vote for him, we are giving people recharge cards. When we give them the card, we tell them to load it so that they can use the recharge card to vote for him. we have spent a lot on recharge card here today so that people can vote for him.”

“Laycon is a son of the soil in the BB Naija house. We are mobilizing for him, for people to support and vote for him because this is the last week for the show.

“We are doing it out of willingness because as a Youth in the State and we have someone like Laycon who is also from our dear state. We need to give him total support because his success is our own success and it will be a pride for the Governor of the State”, he concludes

Recall that just recently, the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Youth and Sports, Comrade Olamide Lawal also expressed his desire to see Laycon emergence as the winner of the BB Naija lockdown contest.

In the article posted on his Facebook page titled “Laycon: An Icon that Changes The Face of BB Naija” he indicated that “Who could have thought that just one guy from Bajuwen village in Odeda area of Ogun State, the initially most underrated one for that matter, could change people’s perception about Big Brother Naija in a jiffy?.

“Before the commencement of this year’s BBNaija Show, tagged BBNaija Lockdown, some people, especially the morally conscious people, have unrepentant hatred for the show, due to its exposure to obscene scenes like sex, among others.”

“But Laycon’s participation in the show has been an irresistible drive, that make some people, who were once opponents of the popular BBNaija to watch, not just all the house mates, but Laycon’s excellent performances.”

“Truthfully speaking, Laycon’s win will not just make the icons happy, it will also change people’s perception about BBNaija, and it will be a celebration of real intellectual prowess.”

“Being an Ogun indigene, he has further showcased what our State is made of and it is part of the reasons, we are setting the pace across the globe, Olamide concluded.

We have not been allowed to leave for six months, workers at Indomie cry out for help

Workers at De United Foods Industries Limited, makers of Indomie noodles, have cried out for help over what they described as modern-day slavery and unfair labour practices meted out on them since March.

The workers said cooks, drivers, nannies, stewards and other groups working for the largely Asian staff of the company, had not been allowed to return home to see their families by the management of the company under the guise of preventing the spread of Covid-19.

The workers in a statement on Thursday said, “Ironically these bosses go out everyday including attending social functions while a few of them have even contracted the Covid-19 and infected the helpless domestic workers. The affected domestic workers are largely drawn from those living with their bosses around Ikoyi and Victoria Island parts of Lagos.

“The Federation of Informal Workers Organisations of Nigeria, a network of working people under informal employment in Nigeria, was alerted about this development almost two months ago during which time efforts were made to reach out to the management of DUFIL to review its inhuman policy without any response or acknowledgement of the effort.”

They called on the Nigerian Government, investors and the international community to intervene in ensuring that they were released to leave the confines of their bosses homes where they had been denied access to public holidays, weekends.

Another person mauled to death by family's pet DOG -- this time a BABY [photos]

A family's pet dog mauled a newborn baby to death while his mother was on the toilet and his father was outside with another child, an coroner heard.

Elon Jase Ellis-Joynes was 12 days old when his family's pet dog is believed to have bit him on September 13.

The tot, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was still alive when mum Abigail Ellis frantically called for an ambulance, but died at the hospital.

Doncaster Coroner's Court heard Elon was "bleeding from his leg or his stomach".

It was said police are currently investigating his death and senior coroner Nicola Mundy adjourned the inquest until a later date.

A police spokesperson said the baby had suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a dog.

They said the pet, called Teddy, was removed from the address and will remain in secure kennels until the force's inquiries have been completed.

Ms Mundy said: "I want to release Elon for the purposes of a funeral to proceed.

"I am aware that there is an ongoing investigation and I adjourn this inquest until matters are investigated."

Abigail and Stephen were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence after the incident and both have been bailed pending further inquiries.

NCDC warns of second wave of coronavirus

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned that there is likely to be an even more devastating second wave of coronavirus in Adamawa and other states in the country due to the non-compliance to Covid-19 health guidelines.

A technical adviser in the implementation of NCDC’s action plan in Adamawa State, Fahad Mohammed, who dropped the hint during the sensitisation of officials of the Nigerian police, civil defence, immigration and correctional services, and road safety personnel in Yola, said that the NCDC was driven to ensure more persons are tested so that the spread of this deadly disease can be addressed and tamed.

Mr Mohammed explained that the biggest concern was that people are not taking tests, “because some of them do not believe that the pandemic is real and that is why we have a low number of positive cases.

“Where you observe low numbers, it means tests are not being undertaken and if you are doing a lot of tests and getting negative results, then you ask who are the people being tested? What is the criteria?” he noted.

The NCDC official, who expressed serious concern with the low testing for COVID-19 in the state, revealed that “there are about seven LGs in Adamawa where testing has never taken place. You can’t say there is no such disease in the areas.

“There is serious concern, (though we don’t pray and God forbid) that there is likely to be even more devastating second wave of coronavirus in Adamawa and other states due to the non-compliance to COVID-19 health guidelines and people declining tests,’’ he warns.

Disturbed by this trend, Mr Mohammed stated that NCDC is set to open testing centres in each of the 21 local governments of Adamawa State in its drive to ensure more persons are tested.

“So the new move will allow us to know the true story of infections in the state. In the next one two or three months, we shall finish the target test of one per cent of the population of the state.

“We will open test centres in all the local governments of Adamawa State. These test centres will allow residents to get tested seamlessly and obtain results in two to three days.

“We tell them to enforce compliance with the usage of face masks, observing social distancing at events and preventing large gatherings.

“We have educated them on that so that they can escalate the message to their respective institutions. We want to enhance testing in such a way a person can get himself COVID-19 tested the way he could obtain a malaria test. We want to take it to all the hospitals,” he said.

He noted that the reason behind NCDC’s enhanced testing arises from concerns that the country is approaching the harmattan season, coupled with the fact that some states will in no distant time face flooding, which naturally comes with its own challenges such as cholera, diarrhoea and others.

“We shall continue to sensitise the populace that COVID-19 is real and there is no cure yet.”
