Apple Officially Released iOS 12, WatchOS 5, tvOS 12, Download Here

Apple Inc has just officially rolled out iOS 12, which is available for iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch. The update is now available for all eligible iOS device to download and install.

 The update came with new features and system enhancement, with even new iOS experience, faster and more responsive.

Some of the noticeable features are improved performance, Siri Shortcuts, Memoji, Screen Time, Shared AR Experiences and more. Screen Time to track how long they spend on their phones and which apps they’ve been using, and improved notifications that are now grouped together by the app and far easier to manage or mute.

There are also some fun new features, like Animoji and custom Memoji that you can create to look like you. Apps like iBooks, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Apple News are also getting redesigns. One of the biggest features — group FaceTime chats with up to 32 participants — has been delayed from the initial release until later this fall.

How To Install iOS 12 Update

Simply go to Settings » General » Software Update> Download and install. The update weighs in at about 1.24GB in size.

Apple also released watchOS 5.0 for Apple Watch users. The watchOS 5 comes with an array of features like Walkie Talkie feature that lets you talk directly to family members using an Apple Watch. You can fire off a voice clip directly to another watch user with a tap of the wrist.

Apple’s adding WebKit for watchOS so users can browse some website on the Watch, such as a restaurant menu optimized for the tiniest screen Apple sells. Podcast support will also come to the latest Apple Watch OS, as well as interactive notifications such as Siri Suggestions and Shortcuts.

And lastly, Apple also released tvOS 12 for Apple TV that brings new Aerial Screensavers, Zero Sign-On, Dolby Atmos Support and more.

Whatsapp To Get Night Mode, Swipe to Reply and More Features

No doubt that Whatsapp has received countless of features in the past few months, and here again, another big update is coming to Whatsapp for Android and iOS.

Some of the noticeable features we expect to see on WhatsApp are Swipe to Reply, Dark/Night mode and expandable group participant list.

Whatsapp Swipe To Reply

Whatsapp for Android is set to get swipe-to-reply feature. This feature is already available for iOS users. Although Telegram has gotten this feature for long now.

Just as the name implies, Swipe to Reply will allow users to quickly reply a message using a swipe right gesture. With this, you will no longer need to press and hold the message to get a reply button.

Whatsapp Night Mode

I believe we are not new to night mode feature on apps. There are many apps out there with dark mode feature, the likes of Telegram, Twitter app etc. Whatsapp dark mode will be available for Android and iOS sooner or later.

Expandable Group Participants List

Whatsapp expandable group participants list shows a More button when there are more than 10 participants. Clicking the More button will present the full group participants list.

MTN Launches HD Voice, a new Voice Over LTE Service

has officially launched a new service branded as HD Voice. HD Voice is a new Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service recently launched by MTN in South Africa.

Some people would be asking what is VoLTE, anyway, in a nutshell, VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE and it's more or less exactly what it says. It's voice calls over a 4G LTE network, rather than the 2G or 3G connections which are usually used.

This new service by MTN is not available for all users. It's available for selected smartphones. According to MTN, they said;

The HD Voice service will allow customers to benefit from voice calls in clear, natural-sounding HD Voice on MTN’s LTE network – coupled with a faster call connection time,”

This service is available for only selected smartphones. Customers are required to use latest smartphones with latest software version. If your device meets this requirements, your device will be automatically configured with support for HD Voice.

After being configured, MTN will reward you with free 1GB data which you used for the software update.

In addition, the introduction of VoLTE services will be carried out in two phases.

1. Starting in September 2018, the first phase will support Samsung S8 and S8+, Huawei P20 Lite, Sony Xperia XZ2, and CAT S61 devices.

2. The second phase will be rolled out starting from October and will include support for additional smartphones.

If your Android phone is rooted, then download TetherNet VPN here. After installing the app, grant it root access. 

1. Now, share hotspot from your phone to your PC.

2. Connect your VPN app

3. Open TetherNet app and tap on VPN because we are using a VPN connection

4. Tap on Hotspot because we are sharing the connection via Hotspot

5. Finally, tap on Start Connection

MTN has just launched Direct to Retail (D2R) app today - the 4th of September 2018. This app was launched across 36 states in Nigeria.

Few weeks ago, I talked about Nigerian banks trying to introduce WhatsApp banking service, and now, Access Bank has just officially launched its first WhatsApp digital banking service.

Twitter is currently rolling out an "Audio-only" broadcast feature to its iOS application. I'm quite not happy as they choose to roll out this feature to iOS users first. Hopefully, we expect to see this feature available for Android.

MIUI 10 Stable ROM Update Rolling Out to Selected Xiaomi Devices

Almost a year Xiaomi rolled out MIUI 9 global update, the Chinese smartphone maker has just officially announced MIUI 10 update. The MIUI 10 update would be rolling out to some selected Xiaomi smartphones.

Xiaomi MIUI 10 is a global update as well, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, available for some Xiaomi phones. As usual, the new UI comes with some new features and redesigned interface.
