Shopper mocks ASOS’ £350 dress that 'looks just like a sack of onions' (photos)

It's no secret that online retailers such as ASOS sometimes sell rather strange items of clothing.

From flame trainers that look like Chandler's ones in Friends to buckle up bikinis, they've got it all.

But shoppers have just stumbled across another interesting item - much to their own amusement.

The garment in question is the Elissa Poppy Lacetex Slip dress, which was originally put online for £350, but is now in the sale for £210.

What's so unusual about this dress you ask?

Well, according to people on Twitter it looks a lot like a sack of onions.

This is because the mesh design is completely see-through, just like the red netting you find around onions.

A baffled Twitter user named Jay Sharif, shared a photo of the dress and a bag of onions on Twitter.
He wrote: "350 for a dress that looks like onion bag sack allow that. #dress #wtf #asos #onalevel #ripped."

Army aircraft crashes into building in Pakistan killing 18 people on the spot (photos)

At least 18 people were killed and several injured when a small military plane crashed into a residential area near the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi.

Five crew members and 13 civilians were among the dead, rescue services said.

The aircraft was on a training flight when it crashed and set off a fire across several homes. One witness said the plane was ablaze before the crash.

The King Air 350 turboprop reportedly took a steep turn near its destination airport before coming down.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan offered his condolences and wished a "quick recovery for the injured", according to a tweet sent by the Pakistani government.

Read the touching story of pastor who was beheaded by Boko Haram founder

Emmanuel Ogebe a lawyer has shared the touching story of how a pastor, George Ojih, was beheaded by Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf in 2009. He also shared the survival story of Ojih’s widow and children. Read...

I had heard of this widow for years. I heard she and her kids had moved to Lagos after the horrific incident. I finally tracked her down.

She told me about her charismatic and studious husband who came back to Maiduguri for the weekend from bible school to visit his family. She remembers wistfully the sermon he preached at his church that weekend encouraging all to be firm till the end. As if he knew.

Later that week, Boko Haram went on rampage. They operated freely in the city of Maiduguri where they had a mosque, a camp ground and facilities. They rampaged through the city killing Christians.

Pastor George and his family were amongst those who fled to a military barracks for safety.

Several days later when the violence subsided a bit, he went in search of an old lady – a widow from his church who wasn’t hiding in the barracks with them.

During that rescue mission, he and a deacon were captured by the terrorists and taken to their grounds.

There Mohammed Yusuf, leader of Boko Haram, addressed a group of captured Christians from his throne, “Covert to Islam or die!” Pastor George refused. Instead he urged the other Christian captives to stay strong.

Incensed, Yusuf ordered for a sword to be brought and as Pastor George continued to encourage the others, pinned him down and slit his throat in their full view. Not done, he fully decapitated him. Then, holding up his severed head, Yusuf declared to the trembling group, “this is what we do to those who refuse to accept Islam!”

A few days later, Nigerian security forces captured Yusuf and he died in custody. His cup was full. He had defied the God of heaven for too long and shed too much innocent blood…

Some of the rescued captives who compromised after his beheading came and told her about her husband’s final, defiant moments…

She is probably one of Nigeria’s longest widow’s from Boko Haram terrorism going back to their July 2009 uprising, 10 years ago this week.

I asked her if she had received compensation from Borno state government as I heard some was being offered. She said, the state government claims they are only paying compensation for people killed during their tenure. Hers was before so they didn’t pay.

I was sickened. How could a nation fail to protect its citizens and then fail to comfort them?

Then she told me about Banjo.

A prominent pastor in Warri and another one in Lagos helped relocate her and her two kids from Borno to the south. She was pregnant then and had her third child there.

A man named Banjo got in touch with her and promised to pay for her kids’ school. This is very costly in one of the world’s most expensive metropolitan megacities.

Every once in a while Banjo would call and ask about the kids’ results. One year, she read the grades to him. Banjo said, “let me call you back.”

Sometime later, he phoned. “I have discussed this with my bible study group. Your son’s grades are not great. We need to move him to a better school. We will pay for the new school.”

It is one thing to be a one-off or cash-and-go philanthropist. It is a whole other thing to be a caring, consistent humanitarian. He paid the fees but he cared about the kid’s performance. In that wise, Banjo was doing what George himself would have done. George must be smiling from heaven…(the body works!)

I marvel at this man whom she tells me she has never met. Yes. He has never shown up to claim credit or glory for his charity. He is leaving it all up to His Rewarder. He is from the southwest, she is from north central and the pastor who relocated her is from the south south. They have no bond, no connection than the love of God. Ironically I found out during our interview that she was from my place…

This is why I believe in Nigeria but I believe in Nigerians more. We have been our own government when there was no governance. We can be our own ministers when there are none. We have proven time and again, that we can survive without them and inspite of them.

El-Zakzaky, wife Zeenat know fate next week

Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat will know on 5 August whether they could go on a medical leave in India.

Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna State High Court said he would give a ruling on El-Zakzaky’s application after lawyers for El-Zakzaky and the state presented their cases.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) leader and his wife applied for medical bail citing poor health in detention.

Counsel to the respondents, who is also the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution, Mr Dari Bayero, briefed newsmen, shortly after the court hearing in Kaduna.

Bayero said the adjournment was sequel to the argument put forth by counsel to both parties on the application.

He said that his team had examined the eight medical reports by both Nigerian and foreign doctors that accompanied the IMN leader’s application.

According to him, they had argued that there are several medical facilities in the country that can handle the medical needs of the IMN leader and his wife.

Justice Khobo had granted the request of the Kaduna state government to review and respond to El-Zakzaky’s application.

Counsel to the applicants, Femi Falana (SAN), told newsmen after Monday’s adjournment that his clients, El-Zakzaky and wife Zeenat, were in dire need of medical attention.

Falana said that his clients had not been given adequate medical care since their detention on Dec. 14, 2015.He expressed concern over the continued deteriorating condition of his client’s health, who he said had already lost an eye and about to lose the second one if nothing is done.

According to him, bullet pellets are still in his clients’ bodies since 2015 and needed to be removed.

Falana explained that the IMN leader was not in court because his health was “very bad”, noting that even during the last appearance, he could not climb the staircase to the courtroom.

“That is why we applied that he be excused from appearance in court and was granted.

“The pellets had resulted to lead poison and needed to be urgently removed by highly professional medical personnel, ” Falana said.

He expressed the hope that the Court would grant El-Zakzaky and his wife permission to travel for urgent medical care.

Bizarre! Palm tree grows inside a high tension electric pole in Delta State (photos)

A social media user who visited home as shared photos of a palm tree growing right inside a high tension electric pole in Delta State. The photos look really bizarre. Below is how the social media user who took the photos explained it…

''Wonder will never end. So I traveled to my country home with my parents in Delta State. The other day, was going to the farm with my grandmother. There I saw it. A disaster waiting to happen. What tickled my fancy was the fact that the electric pole is right in the middle of the town. not some far away forest.

Furthermore, there is usually this annual maintenance programme by whichever agency is in charge. How come they have been missing this?

That an important electricity facility like this one can be ignored speaks volume about our mentality as a people.

Here, calling on bloggers and the various news agencies to publicise this till it gets to the authorities in charge.

Note: this eyesore is located at the end of Ikpamaku Street, Adeje Town in Okpe LGA of Delta State.
Wadoooo...''

First daughter of the Lord’s Chosen General Overseer weds with no earrings, no makeup and a plain white attire (photos)

One could mistake her for an angel on earth on her wedding day.

The first daughter of the General Overseer of the Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, International Conference Center, Ruth Ifunanya Muoka, recently tied the knot with her heartthrob, Lucky Oha and she looked just like an angel on their special day.

No makeup, no earrings, plain white simple dress was what she wore for her special occasion. Cool or too much? Or Pastor Muoka is setting example for other men of God? Recall one gave his daughter out few years ago and her wedding dress made the news – flashy! Some even said, the particular church will not wed their members in such an attire but went ahead with the occasion because it was the G.O’s son who was getting married. How many people remember that story? We reported the drama back and forth, lol.

Imo women stage protest over harassment of Okorocha's daughter, gives Gov hedioha 72 hours to apologize to family

Thousands of Women, under the auspices of PDP Women Liberators (PWL), staged a peaceful protest during the weekend, demanding an apology and stoppage of alleged harassment against ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha’s daughter by the agents of Governor Emeka Ihedioha-led government in Imo State.

Okorocha’s daughter, Uloma, is married to Chief Uche Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff to the Imo State government and the state governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the last 2019 polls.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP Women, Thousands of Women, under the auspices of PDP Women Liberators (PWL), staged a peaceful protest during the weekend, demanding an apology and stoppage of alleged harassment against ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha’s daughter by the agents of Governor Emeka Ihedioha-led government in Imo State.

Okorocha’s daughter, Uloma, is married to Chief Uche Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff to the Imo State government and the state governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the last 2019 polls.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP Women, the leader of the group, Mrs. Adiela Uzoma, expressed disappointment with the action of the governor, regretting that such action has the tendency of portraying the party in bad light before Nigerians.

The Woman leader said, “Nothing has so ridiculed the image of our party than the molestation meted on one of Imo’s brightest female stars, Mrs. Uloma Nwosu, by an aide of our governor, and the leader of our party in this state. We wish to first of all distance ourselves and all PDP women in Imo State from such action.

“We are the nucleus of PDP in this state, as we hold the power button of the party. We wish to clearly state our disappointment with the governor for his silence over this regrettable abuse on women by his agents.

” Even though Uloma Nwosu is not a member of our party, the PDP Women Liberators is built on the vision of promoting the party (PDP) as gender friendly and sensitive. We categorically condemn any action that portrays our Party otherwise.

“We hereby demand that the governor; tenders an unreserved public apology to Mrs. Uloma Nwosu and her family within 72 hours of this publication. And to bring to the book, everyone involved in this abuse of women. We will take step to ensure that such abuse on women is stopped forthwith.

“The governor also should tender an unreserved apology to Mrs. Uloma Nwosu, whom we consider an Amazon of grace and enterprise. He (Ihedioha) should apologize to the family of the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Omorocha and to Chief Uche Nwosu for this unwarranted abuse.”

Winnie Harlow celebrates milestone 25th birthday in dazzling gold bikini aboard a yacht

Winnie Harlow isn't holding anything back when it comes to celebrating a quarter century on Planet Earth.

The Canadian top model rang in her 25th birthday on Saturday with some fun in sun aboard a yacht in Miami with some choice friends that included Pauly D of Jersey Shore fame.

And the excursion came just hours after she rocked out with a few gal pals at the Jennifer Lopez concert, and then met with the Latina superstar at an after-party.

For her bash on the bay, the former America's Next Top Model contestant flaunted her statuesque figure in a barely-there gold bikini.

At times she covered up, ever so slightly, with a sheer creamy-beige blazer of sorts.

A woman has delivered conjoined twins in Genyi Yandev, Gboko Local Government, Benue State. The twins share the same stomach and just two legs.

They have separate heads and hands. She took them to church, where Reverend Teryange Nyaghve prayed for them and asked the congregation to help her in their own little way! Hopefully, the state government will take it up from here.

Frank Peters calls NFF to a fight over ‘illegal clearance’ issued to five players

Business mogul and owner of Real Sapphire Football Club Mr Frank Peters has raised his voice up through the sports director of his club that the frequent intimidation being displayed by some people in NFF will be restricted completely by the club.

Francis Ogete lamented that the negative influence, non challant attitude and self corruption of some personalities of the NFF has only contributed to the fall and death of academies in Nigeria.

How can a registered academy in Nigeria have a problem with the Egyptian FA and the NFF turns her eyes off? We are talking about transfers that involved 5 players. Imagine how much we used to finance these players out of Nigeria only for us to hear that some clubs in Egypt through a scout hijacked them.

How can they play for clubs internationally if they are registered with the NFF under our club, who issued international transfer certificates (ICT) for them.

We are not going to bow to NFF, we will start fishing out the people involved in this dirty deal, we have gone to FIFA already and we are calling on every Nigerian interested in football to call the NFF to order, the sports director said.

We will ensure that this issue gets resolved and we want to clearly send a message to Amaju Pinnick to call his men to order.

Let us inform Nigerians that the academy has invested over N20m on these five players over the years, we will ensure that the investment will count.

Kazeem Balemo, Moses Odo, Ogenetega Laba, Ajibade Abiola and Odo Joshua are the five players.

We presently have confirmed information that two of them are playing in leagues in Egypt while another one is playing in Saudi Arabia.

The big question is who cleared them in the NFF?
